friendly approachable and friendly, this is perhaps the main reason why donggu is popular around campus aside from his charming good looks. the life of the party, donggu enjoys being in social event and does not shy away from talking to people he doesn't know. he pretty much gets along with everyone and has a big circle of friends.

on the 13th of june 1998, oh jungeun gives birth to her precious son oh donggu. she was a single mom, trying to make it in the city of seoul. it was hard and she thought she could still keep it together until she couldn't. she was left with no choice but to go back to her hometown to live with her mother.

their story.
sydney and donggu are from opposite sides of the world, came from two completely family, have different interests, but one thing brought them together and it was their curiosity to know more about their parents.
when researching things about south korea and its culture, sydney somewhat stumble into p.s. intrigued, she decided to give it a shot due to two things: first, she liked the idea of having a penpal. it was nice little hobby that she thinks should come back. second, this was a great way to improve her korean, especially when it comes to writing hangul. it was like killing two birds with one stone.
then there's donggu who has more or else the same reason. he had secretly been looking for ways to search for his father but he knew he couldn't do that if he's not confident with his english skills. he thought p.s would be a great opportunity to improve that and they're nice enough to pair him with someone who lives abroad when he asked them to.
despite the letters taking so long to arrive in their hands, the two hit it off instantly. at first they spoke in both korean and english, but some reason they ended up speaking in korean only. due to their simillar age range, they had more or less the same interests and bonded over memes and jokes, though sometimes they wouldn't get it due to different cultures. they used to write about problems and what not, but due to the fact that their letters come by the time the problems has finished, they just gradually did not speak of it.

with his bed hair and oversized hoodie, donggu did not noticed that he was running into someone until he felt like he was falling. however just before his body hits the ground he was thankfully pulled in by the person he just bumped into.

stunned after seeing the unknown woman, donggu was unable to speak for a second. though he does manages to utter some words. "i-i'm late."

his mind knew that he should be going, but for some reason he was frozen, eyes following her until her figure finally disappeared. all throughout the way to his class, he was wondering who she was to the point of daydreaming once he has sat down to a desk. he unexpectedly receives an answer after realizing a name was etched in his wrist with her name on it.

he gets distracted by something for a second, and when he turned back to her she noticed that he was looking at him. being the friendly person that she is, sydney waves at him after recognizing him. thankfully for donggu, she didn't notice the blush on his face.
donggu freaks out a bit, thinking that she might think he's a creep for staring at her. in the end he decided to talk to her. she has seen him anyways, might as well talk to her even though he's scared af. donggu was already by her table when she looked at him again, with a shy smile and his backpack hanging on his back.
"hey there. what's up?"
"are you sydney? sydney brooks?" he asks with much hope. he really wishes it was her. he's even sure the name wasn't on his wrist the night before nor in the morning he met her.
at first, the confusion on her face was evident but then it hit her. "oh my god, you're oh donggu." she shows him her wrist and he does the same thing. surprised but elated, they both let out an excited, loud gasp which got them kicked out from the library. this didn't stop their excitement though as they hang out at a coffee shop until their next classes started.
it was never sydney's intention to meet her soulmate in a foreign country, but now that she has, why not just go with it? plus it was donggu. as soon as they collided that one morning, she had already found him adorable even in that short encounter. after finding out that they were soulmates, they've exchanged numbers and have been hanging out ever since.

he gets distracted by something for a second, and when he turned back to her she noticed that he was looking at him. being the friendly person that she is, sydney waves at him after recognizing him. thankfully for donggu, she didn't notice the blush on his face.
donggu freaks out a bit, thinking that she might think he's a creep for staring at her. in the end he decided to talk to her. she has seen him anyways, might as well talk to her even though he's scared af. donggu was already by her table when she looked at him again, with a shy smile and his backpack hanging on his back.
"hey there. what's up?"
"are you sydney? sydney brooks?" he asks with much hope. he really wishes it was her. he's even sure the name wasn't on his wrist the night before nor in the morning he met her.
at first, the confusion on her face was evident but then it hit her. "oh my god, you're oh donggu." she shows him her wrist and he does the same thing. surprised but elated, they both let out an excited, loud gasp which got them kicked out from the library. this didn't stop their excitement though as they hang out at a coffee shop until their next classes started.
it was never sydney's intention to meet her soulmate in a foreign country, but now that she has, why not just go with it? plus it was donggu. as soon as they collided that one morning, she had already found him adorable even in that short encounter. after finding out that they were soulmates, they've exchanged numbers and have been hanging out ever since.
donggu adores being around sydney and vice versa. whether it's her teaching her english, or them watching a film together, they end up enjoying it. perhaps it was because of the fact that they were soulmates, but it didn't take long for them to fall for each other.
currently, donggu and sydney know they have feelings for each other, but neither has really confessed. perhaps it's because they don't want to rush things esp since sydney has just transferred. they do flirt with each other even with their friends around. they also still send letters to each other as penpals, but they don't know that they're writing to each other.
ending. i think they'd be dating in the end (but if you have another idea such as angst or what not, i don't mind! hehe)

how did you come across p.s.? "i came across p.s. through the internet. luckily i stumbled upon the agency while researching some things about south korea."
what are your thoughts on soulmates? lost soulmates? "if i'm being honest, i don't give much importance to soulmates. it wasn't the most important thing to me, you know? but i do find it quite depressing when people don't meet their soulmates. it's nice to have someone to have your back and understand you no matter what, and i think that is what a soulmate is."
do you think everyone has a soulmate? why? she pauses, thinking deeply about the question. she does wonder about it sometimes and questions herself, like if her biological parents were soulmates why did they leave her in an adoption house? "i think everybody does have one. but not everybody is lucky enough to find their own."
how do you feel about having a pen pal? "oh, i love it. i think it's quite exciting to write to someone since it's rare for people to do that these days." sydney lets out a gleeful giggle. "and for it to be someone from another continent! it's so cool for me."
when you have a pen pal of your own, would you ever consider meeting them in person? here. "definitely! that would be nice!" it was just a simple question, but sydney was already getting excited.
