full name : son sorim
nicknames :
- sori ; sorim gets this nickname because of her habit of saying "sorry" a lot, and it fits because it's also a part of her name. her friends pretty frequently, saying that she was practically born to say sorry.

ethnicity : korean
birthplace & hometown : seoul, south korea

appearance : son sorim, though not always as pretty as she is now, has grown up like a flower during a storm. as a child, she wasn't particularly that pretty, due to her ugly haircuts and unkempt appearance, but after growing up and taking an interest in actually looking clean and pretty, sorim has definitely become more attractive to stare at. in the span of many, many years, she has finally found the best hairstyle for her facial features; a long, dark brown mane that tumbles past her s, and bangs to match. she is very petite with her height of 154 cm, which others tend to about, and her equally as small weight of 45 kg. sorim boasts ivory white skin that is marked with some pimples here and there, yet they never stay for too long. she wears makeup whenever she goes out, but it's more on the simpler side. sorim only uses a tiny dab of foundation, lip stick, mascara, and an eyebrow pencil for whenever they're starting to look unkempt or whenever she plucked too much eyebrow hair off of her face.

style : sorim has a pretty casual and comfy style, and is rarely seen in dresses or skirts, due to the fact that she is way too lazy to shave her legs regularly enough for it. a major staple for her closet are jeans or shorts for hotter weathers, casual (yet stylish) shirts, and a large array of windbreakers and jackets. sorim is drawn towards white shoes, and you can always see her sporting it, but it can never end well, especially when there are so many things that could ruin them - which probably explains why her shoes are always a little dirty after a few days. because sorim is a pretty simple dresser, she's not too obsessed with having accessories and she can rarely be seen with jewelry on, or the sort. she also doesn't like wearing hats because it messes up the hair that she took so long to style in the morning, and honestly, anything else is just a huge burden for her to carry. because of that, the only accessory that sorim carries around is a simple bag, and that's that.

I KNOW YOU INSIDE OUT

personality :
when the sun rises hardworking, genuine, loyal
sensitive, submissive, obnoxious and when it sets
"my child... hmm... how do i say this... she's the freaking best and whoever disagrees with me is dumb as rocks. sorim is the hardest worker, and i feel a little bad for her some of the time. she spends so many hours on hours doing the things that she's supposed to do, and it's great, but i just want to comfort her, gosh i freakin' love sorim. she's so real, like you just know that she's not playin' around with you. she's incredibly loyal too and there have been so many occasions where i'm just touched. but, sorim is a little... too much sometimes. she cries all the goddamn time and it's a bit annoying because i'm only trying to convey my point to her, but i would never want to hurt her feelings... she'd just cry more, relentlessly say sorry to me, and i'd feel bad. she also does not have a backbone and i just want to die, because she cannot say no to save her life. it's obnoxious, which is like her when she doesn't listen to me ... but she's my lovely child and i love her. i'm mean, and she tells me that all the time, so trust me, i know it, but i love her with all my heart. it just hurts me to see her getting hurt sometimes." ruri sighs.

"sorim is truly a sweetheart. she somehow brings out the gentlest part of ruri, even though she tends to become an actual devil at times, but it's interesting to see them and how they act. ruri is her usual self, but sorim accepts all of her flaws, both her's and ruri's, and tries to be good to her guardian. it's really endearing. i really like sorim, but i am not really sure about what haecheol has to say about her. that's a whole different topic by itself, but as for me, i think she's an incredibly genuine girl. she just needs a bit of attention on her flaws - but she's still a very kind girl, in spite of that." miko smiles.

"son sorim...? what about her? she's just average... but i can see that she's really nice and is a good person, but that's just what i see. the thing is, though, is that she says sorry a lot, and i don't know what's wrong with her, but no one should have to apologize that many times in a single sitting. she's a really hardworking girl though. i can really see the amount of time she puts into her work, based on how they look whenever she presents them. she cries a lot though. we watched a movie in class about birds, concerning evolution, and she sobbed when hearing that the weak ones die, and then actually seeing a dead bird on the screen, but i don't blame her. but she's somewhat obnoxious and kinda annoying so... that's just what i think about her." haecheol furrows his brows.

background : sorim is a loved child in her family; she's a baby compared to her older siblings, who are already off with their families in various places of seoul, and so she's grown up to be slightly spoiled because she's the last girl and child that her parents would ever have. as a kid, she was surrounded by adults, but they treated her like a kid for the longest time; since she was the youngest, it was a habit for everyone to spoil her and treat her a little more nicely than everyone else, since they thought of her as a baby still. her brother and sister were, respectively, ten and thirteen years older than her, so they were older than her by a lot and also much more busy. they often had school to worry about, and not to mention their various extracurriculars as well. sorim's parents were always at work, and she saw them later in the day, most of the time, so sorim was a lonely child. she was loved, but at the expense of her happiness. sorim was mostly around her grandmother, who took care of her, and taught her how to draw, since she was an art teacher herself. sorim found an interest in that, and she loved how her pencil meshed with her paper so flawlessly, and how her art ended up becoming a strange mess that she was always proud of.

although she was still loved greatly as she grew up, she wasn't the baby in the eyes of her relatives anymore. sorim was getting a little older now, and she was seen as a regular kid. due to the fact that she didn't interact with many kids during her youth, when she got to school, she was pretty obnoxious, and still is to this day, admittedly. it was rough for her, mostly because she was still getting used to her new environment. sorim wanted a friend so badly, and became quite submissive to their demands. if they wanted to play princess, sorim played princess; if it was declared that someone wanted to nap, sorim would nap. she was a very obedient girl, but there were times where she'd want to break down crying. because she was treated so nicely, and was a little bit spoiled as a kid, sorim was incredibly sensitive. she wasn't exposed to the world like the other kids were, and cried easily.

as she grew up, sorim became more stable with herself, but remained pretty obnoxious at times, and she still had a habit of crying whenever she felt like she was attacked. she, however, found her place in life eventually, and felt that she had finally figured out where she belonged. she went to xavier university, and while studying in an empty room one day, she took a break, and noticed that there was a deck of cards lying on the table next to her. she was puzzled; she hadn't noticed them when she walked in, but she was also sure that there wasn't anybody in the room with her while she was in there. she inspected the cards curiously, and was pretty intrigued by them. they were a shimmery sapphire color, and she saw that on a card, there was the line "we loved with a love that was more than love", and she vaguely remembered that it was a line from a poem that edgar allen poe had written. since she couldn't find the owner, sorim decided to just play with them for a little bit, but it was pretty shocking to her, when a girl came out of the cards and brashly said that they were her guardian.

lifestyle : sorim is an architecture major at her school, and to be quite honest, she feels like dying everyday. it's tiring, and frustrating for her to create different types of buildings, only for her designs to get rejected, and sorim is pretty annoyed by it. architecture is a big headache for her, but no one could miss the biggest grin that spreads on her face whenever she gets her designs accepted or gets a good grade on her buildings. even after the stress and frustration, sorim still loves architecture with all of her heart. after school, though, sorim goes home to see all of her roommates, and she enjoys the night with them, and they all take turns cooking (or at least the ones that can cook do), and spends the rest of the night relaxing with a nice cup of tea, or she's slaving away on her homework. there is no between, but sorim doesn't mind anyways.

relationships :
best friend im jaebum - the pair met in their first years of college, and in the span of a year, they have grown pretty close to each other. they tell each other almost anything and tend to go to each other for advice. their friendship is mostly full of embarrassing puns, homework help, and in some cases, sorim crying because she had just met "the cutest dog ever!", or so she would say. they've had their fair share of fights, and they're mostly over stupid things too, but it's alright because in the end, they always make up with each other. jaebum loves sorim like a sister and it is the same with sorim; she finds him as caring and also as annoying as a real brother, and it's something that is incredibly interesting to sorim, the idea of being able to have a relationship like that with someone.
friend & roommate cheon songyi - with songyi, sorim is always wondering why they haven't met earlier. sorim first met songyi in her general ed classes, which all undergrad students are forced to take, and unluckily for sorim, she got lost, and ended up coming to class late, and the only seat available was the one next to songyi, which turned out to be a pretty fortunate occurence. she loves witty puns and jokes, and songyi is always witty with her puns, so it's weirdly perfect for sorim. it's actually killer because songyi is such a friendly person and sorim is never awkward with her or anything, and they always talk to each other (which is guaranteed because songyi can talk for days). sorim moved in with songyi and a few other friends, but like other roommates, sorim and the other girls have their differences and conflicts too, but it always ends with them reconciling, luckily.
She's my guardian

name : ruri
fc : solbin, laboum
card deck : sapphire
counterpart : kim haecheol
partner : miko
interactions : ruri is quite blunt and stubborn, and is a handful for sorim a lot of the times. the guardian is rough, both with her words and with her actions, but ruri does care a whole lot for sorim. her guardian child means the world to her, and ruri would do anything to protect her. honestly, if you thought about it, ruri was like a tiger; very fierce, yet motherly at the same time. despite that, there tend to be times where the pair fight and do not get along at all, but they always make up in the end, often sharing a sweet moment with one another. their relationship can be tumulous at some points, but both care a lot for each other, even though it may not be visible all the time.

with her partner, miko, she is pretty much the same. she is relatively sharp-tongued towards him, but he's more on the gentle side, and knows that ruri doesn't really mean it. she does have her sweeter moments with him as well, and when it comes to their children, the pair only want what is best for them.

haecheol the bae(cheol) honest, caring, protective
stubborn, aloof, tactless haecheol the nay(cheol)
"oh, haecheol. he's always being misunderstood by other people, and i can't blame them. he's a lot to handle, since he doesn't express himself very well. well, he's a honest kid and you gotta give that to him, but... too honest. like it feels like a knife is frickn' cutting you in the heart when he talks sometimes and it kinda hurts a lot of people, so he's not very popular with others. he's a good person, though. it just tends to be hard to break his shell at first, but trust me, he's a good kid. it's really cute, he tries to protect me and is kinda like a mom sometimes, even though he's my child. but he's not very good at using his words. some of the things he says can be very... interesting. he is a little bit cold and a little hard to approach because he looks a bit scary, but think it's very rewarding once you befriend him. he's a lonely kid, actually. i feel kinda bad for him... but it's a little hard to help him. he always insists that he doesn't need any help, but i'm his guardian. i know him best, and i know he needs someone. he deserves a good person to keep him company. it's also pretty neat. he's a lot like ruri... except that ruri is louder and haecheol is on the quieter side of the spectrum." miko grinned.

"haecheol? ugh, don't get me started. miko says i act like him, and yeah i mean i guess, since we have that string linking us together, but seriously? i do not act like him. in fact, he's the one that acts like me, but worse! don't twist my words, i love the boy, but he has done my baby wrong a few times and i'm waiting for him to repent for sins, and apologize, hmph. miko says it's just a part of his attitude to be a little cold and harsh, and then laughs because he thinks that it's funny how we act alike?! um, first of all, he is lying. haecheol is pretty... hm... terrible with words? the kind of person you wanna punch sometimes because the wrong things just come out of their pretty little mouth. my first priority is my child, and if he's treating my child bad, then he has me to talk to, but if you push aside his flaws, i guess you can say he's a pretty good person. he has a few good qualities, and doesn't treat sorim badly all the time, so i guess i can put his weaknesses away. i wonder what the future holds for the pair." ruri answers.

"kim haecheol is really mean to me actually... but he's a kind person to me too. it's really hard to explain. when he saw that he had the same deck as me, he was scoffing at me and everything, but after being with him more, i'm starting to realize that he's not that bad. he's just a little quiet and unfriendly, so when you first talk to him, it's kind of abrasive and rough, but after time, you can really see the greater qualities. he's really shy hahah. it's interesting because he's too honest for his own good. it goes around and becomes his greatest enemy sometimes, but i like it a lot. i appreciate honesty. it's amazing too, since he's... how do i say it... he's rather caring, but in a quiet way? if you get that, haha. it's hard to explain, but for example, i don't think he knows that i know, but i can truly see that he's protective over people, both through words and his actions. like one time, he scolded me and told me that i shouldn't go out too late, and if i needed to, i should just call him. it was heartwarming, even if he makes me cry at times. i'm lucky." sorim chuckles, hoping that the blush on her face wasn't showing.

background : haecheol had always been someone who was extremely quiet, even as a child. he wasn't shy in the slightest, but he wasn't the most outgoing either; he was an introverted kid, and his childhood wasn't as interesting as he'd like it to be. despite that, he had always found his solace in reading, and you could always find his younger self buried in a book, no matter the time. he would travel through different dimensions with the mesmerizing power of words, and haecheol grew up to be very well-versed and intellectual. he focused moreso on nonfiction books, since the world and its mechanics interested him greatly, and he couldn't help but be amazed by its complexity. he also found himself immersed in the world of poetry; it just spoke to him, and he liked the way the words rolled off of his tongue every time he read it aloud.

because of his love for books, he never really interacted with girls (or people) that much, and now he's suffering for it because he is such a loner. he's often under lots of scrutiny, since he tends to be misunderstood sometimes, but he can't help himself. throughout his entire childhood, he has only been obsessed with books, and never found out how to charismatically go on with his life. he snatched himself a job at the university library, due to the fact that the lady there was very kind to him, and was intrigued by his vast knowledge of literature, so she hired him to help her, and haecheol sometimes finds himself immersed in a book, even though he's supposed to be filing them, but she always lets it slide. one day, he found a set of cards, while he was filing books, and it was strange because no one was in the library anymore; he was pretty sure it was not the lady's cards either, since she didn't seem like the type to own any, so he left it in the lost and found area for a while, until two weeks later, when he noticed them still sitting there. he curiously peered at them because of its beautiful sapphire shade, and opened up the box, which shocked him. the first thing he had seen was the line "we loved with a love that was more than love", and instantly knew that it was poe. haecheol shrugged, thinking that it wasn't going to be claimed anyways, so he just grabbed them, and took it home with him. he did not expect to see someone come out of it, and greet him by saying that he was haecheol's guardian, though.

lifestyle : as an econ major, haecheol's head explodes every single day. he sometimes gets the material and the rest of the time is just him staring at graphs and thinking to himself why he ever took the class. after drawing a lot of supply and demand curves and determining the shift that will occur with every event, haecheol is left with an aching soul and a head that's about to explode, and he still doesn't know why he tortures himself, but he can still figure it out. he loves the way the graphs move, and he loves trying to figure out what happens after an event, for example, like fiscal policy. that just excites him, and he's such a nerd, but economics interest him greatly. when he isn't studying his econ book like it's a cryptic note, he is pretty much sleeping, and that's all there is to it. he tends to cook occasionally, but eating out is his staple habit.
HIM, ME, AND OUR RED DECK OF CARDS

meeting : sorim and haecheol first met on campus. they had a very similar schedule, and she had encountered him in a few of her gen ed classes, but never actually bothered to talk to him because of his cold and aloof appearance. while she was walking to her architecture class, however, it just so happened that she was busily eyeing at her phone, cramming for a test that she was about to take, not noticing that he was right in front of her. she didn't even realize it until she walked right into him, and the pair ended up as a sprawled mess on the gravel floor. sorim was profusely apologizing, explaining that she was trying to use the very last minutes she could to study for her architecture vocabulary test (which was a super long test with 50 questions, so you already know it was a must for her to cram everything in). haecheol was initially very annoyed, and her explanation just made him snort in irritation. "don't do that again," he said moodily, and she nodded, saying that she would be more careful. the time for her to get to her class was approaching, and unluckily, their things were jumbled up on the ground. while rushing to pick up everything that was hers so that she wouldn't be late, sorim happened to glance quickly at a card deck, and picked it up, assuming that it belonged to her - but when she checked to see if she had all of her belongings later, she suddenly noticed that it wasn't a little symbol of a graph that was on her card, and instead, was a picture of an arch. in that second, that's when she realized, the boy she ran into was her soulmate - and he had her cards.

she met up with him after her last class, which she just happened to share with him (thank goodness) and asked for her cards back. haecheol sized her up, and snorted once more. he belittled her, saying that she was unfit to own the cards, and that it was even a wonder they were soulmates. he couldn't stand the thought of having to be tied to a girl that was as idiotic as her. sorim, being the lil' baby she is, started to tear up and profusely apologize, which stunned haecheol. not only was she an idiot, she was also the biggest crybaby he had ever met in his life, something he also didn't appreciate. haecheol was not pleased. he couldn't stand for this, and if anything, was unwilling to accept the fact that she, a girl that cried over nothing, was his soulmate. she was someone that was the opposite of him, and haecheol isn't looking for a girl that's just like him, but he's also not looking for a girl that was just like her. he would've preferred someone actually decent to be around, but people aren't always lucky in life and haecheol is an example of someone that isn't. he just gave her back her cards and snatched his back to avoid all the fuss she was making, causing sorim to apologize even more about taking his cards and bumping into him earlier, but all haecheol could think about was how it was definitely impossible for him to fall in love with her.

relationship : in the beginning, the relationship between sorim and haecheol was definitely not the best. he hated how much she cried, and she didn't know what to do as a soulmate - should she talk to him more? should she be a more active person in his life in general? questions went in and out of her head for days on end, and ruri was no help at all - she just told sorim to 'snatch dat boy', but it was harder than ruri made it seem. every time sorim tried to talk to him, he would always answer in one-worded sentences, and whenever she made an attempt to try to get closer to him, he would pull back just as equally. she was fighting a difficult battle, and wasn't sure what to do because the girl was as experienced in love as boys are in learning the mechanics of a female brain. sorim was lost, but she kept trying because she believed in ruri and the cards; she believed that haecheol would bend, and it would be alright between the two, so she kept trying. she kept talking to him and haecheol became increasingly annoyed. why did she keep talking to him? he didn't care a bit about her, so why did she care about him? he didn't believe in the 'soulmates' thing, and dismissed it to be a joke of some sort. it didn't explain the quote on his cards and the pull he feels when he's around sorim, but he just ignored that, and ignored her. to everyone that sees the duo, they just look like a cat and mouse pair, but sorim still tries to talk to him anyways.

interactions : sorim doesn't know exactly why she's so focused on chasing him around, but she knows it's what she has to do. she's not sure if she actually likes him that much, but she has to find out if they're actually soulmates or if this whole thing was a fluke. the pair aren't especially close with each other, but sorim makes it a point to ask him about his day, or tell her interesting facts about his life, and haecheol reluctantly answers, but he likes it a little bit. because of his introverted personality, he's never really had deep conversations with friends and nobody has ever shown much of an interest in him, except for her - which was strange. he wasn't expecting her to be that stubborn with him, and he had endured multiple days of her tears and profuse apologies. however, he had also endured multiple days of her smiles and her eyes turning into cresents because of something amazing she had seen. he liked the way she asked him about his life; it wasn't too prying, and she didn't expect too much out of his answers. she didn't care if he was rather curt with her. she accepted him for who he was, no matter how aloof and brooding he was at times, and haecheol had noticed how innocent her heart was. he wasn't particularly in love with her yet, but his opinion of her was slowly changing. soon enough, the two had tiny conversations that turned longer every time they talked to each other, and they were full of her showing haecheol the smile that he loved the most, and him sharing quotes from books he liked, which sorim paid her utmost attention to, something that haecheol, again, had never encountered. it wasn't a full-blown love, but he was starting to feel a great deal of affection for sorim.

ending : haecheol wasn't very good with confessing his love, but he certainly was good at loving sorim with all of his heart. she was sincere and he could see that. she was caring and he could understand that. she was loving and he could feel that. son sorim was so incredibly kind to him, despite how rude he was to her, and haecheol was astounded by the depth of her love. "she loved with a love that was greater than love", and haecheol could understand that completely; their love was different than most. it wasn't a fiery passion, full of adventures and new things to do everyday, but rather, it was a simple and relaxing time for them. they found solace in each other, and go on with doing what they want at a slow pace. he relied on her much more than he ever did in his life. she talked to him even more than they could both imagine. he loved being near her, soaking in her presence. she liked knowing that he would always be by her side, no matter what. they contained the hottest love on the planet, burning with the brightest flame, and with every touch - they felt it too.

sorim is an innocent and precocious girl that happens to talk in her sleep a lot of the time. she does not particularly like english all too much and hates going to class and reading a miserable bunch of paragraphs. she is not too fond of math either. honestly, the only thing sorim is good at is science, but even then, she doesn't really even like the subject too much. however, she loves fruits with all of her heart, and if there was a garden of ripe fruits, sorim might cry. although it seems a little odd, sorim also loves to make weird combos with her food, and it kinda grosses ruri out, but makes her child laugh, so it's alright. sorim knows how to play piano, and whenever she has free time, she will whip out a book and learn anything that interests her. it is also important to note that she really likes animals and cries whenever she sees videos of dogs doing nothing, just because she thinks that they're so cute and precious. if she could, she would adopt a billion dogs and treat them all to dog treats and love everyday. sorim is a sweet girl, and it's no surprise that she also equally likes sweets as well.
