˗ˏˋ 윤단비 IS DEDICATED TO 이태용 ˊˎ-

art major yoon danbi is a self-proclaimed pop stan and makes lots of fan art while also maintaining a page full of 'regular' art as well. she mostly stans boy groups, but at some points will listen to girl groups because men are trash!! she is also a self-proclaimed man hater as well, but it does not stop her as she admires her favorite boys on various sites. she's a little more edgy and slightly emo in comparison to others, so beware. there are lots of odd facets to her?

 given name  yoon danbi
 nicknames
danyi friends and family it's mostly used as an endearing way of referring to her. it's just the first syllable of her first name, with an 이 at the end of it.
— art major friends her friends use this nickname to tease danbi most of the time. it's because danbi definitely exudes art major energy, so whenever they greet her, they'll go, "hi art major!" and danbi will always respond back.

 languages
— korean native since danbi was born and raised in korea, she is quite adept at korean. it is her mother tongue, after all.
— english conversational danbi is a linguistics minor, so she has been casually learning english to try and communicate with more people, especially since she wants to broaden her art dreams. while she is much better at reading and listening to others speak english, she can speak it decently herself, but definitely does have a thick accent with it.

 occupation  student + art instagrammer

 faceclaim  eunchae dia
 backup faceclaim  yuju cherry bullet

appearance  while previously a denim and hoodies type of girl, danbi has now embraced the 'art major' look, and has a sort of airy feel to her now. adorned with turtlenecks, plaid, and insanely long coats that don't fit her short body, danbi definitely has that look to her as she walks around campus with her canvasses packed up in a bag. it's hard to miss the long cascade of black hair that seems to shine especially so under beaming rays, and while she does have a slightly plain look to her, she has the power of makeup on her side as well. most days, she likes to have on a light coverage with just concealer, mascara, her brows, and lip tint. danbi likes to stay on the safe side, so she has pretty much looked the same since high school, though her fashion choices is the one changing more often than not. in this moment in time, however, she's just going for that art major aesthetic.

 personality
reliable
"oh don't worry," danbi said reassuringly to her friend. "i'll definitely help you out. i know that it's hard doing english homework anyway, just ask whatever okay?" she watched over her friend carefully as they did the worksheet. "oh, don't forget that you have to conjugate this phrase!" they sat there for another hour, before her friend had finished. "if you ever need any help, call me again!"
friendly
"hey," danbi greeted the person sitting next to her in their art history class. "it's nice to meet you, i'm yoon danbi!" it seemed as if she didn't have a sense of fear at meeting a new person. "do you mind if i get your contact info? we'd be able to talk about assignments!"
passionate
"yes!" danbi sighed, wiping the sweat off of her brow. she had just finished painting with her newest set of acrylics, and had dirtied her hands and apron with it. however, the end product on her canvas was a great result. "i'm gonna freaking show everyone this!" she certainly didn't mention the fact that she had spent the entire day working on the painting, though.
self-critical
danbi looked defeated. "this looks so stupid, the nose and eyes are so off and the color scheme is so gray. i'm dumb and this is awful. i cannot paint for . i should've been more studious with color theory..." she couldn't help but sigh loudly. "i could do better than this...i'm not a terrible artist, i just was too cocky. i need to do better next time."
sensitive
danbi's eyes couldn't help but water slightly as she read a ton of hate comments on her latest piece. it wasn't really related to kpop, but she wanted to showcase it anyway. despite that, it left a bitter taste in as she read things like 'the art style ''what is this?? it looks so ugly... i hope you didn't make this', 'bruh lmfao no one's wanting to see this, just delete.' even though there were a bunch of nice comments on the post, danbi could only focus on the mean ones.
petty
this is so stupid, danbi thought to herself, annoyed at the fact that her ex had the audacity to call her.
"danbi, can i get my freaking cardigan back?" it was so stupid of him to ask if he could get his cardigan back when he still had her clothes in his possession!
"how 'bout you give me my  back?" she fumed.
"you know i already donated it!" he argued, making her a notch more annoyed.
"huh, i'll do the same then," she spat, before hanging up and continuing to block his number.
resentful
"i hate this," danbi muttered to herself in tears. she had a carton of ice cream sitting in her lap as she had watched a variety show talking about named couples. it was on the sappier side and danbi didn't know why she was watching it because it was a sensitive subject for her already. with a sigh, she turned the tv off and leaned against her chair. "i wish i was named."

background  born under the twinkling lights of seoul in the midst of an especially pretty autumn, yoon danbi has always been an artistic girl. ever since she could hold a pencil, she'd scribble all over her parents' work documents, napkins, and more, and would always be the one gladly taking her messily scribbled drawings and plant them square in the middle on the fridge. everyday, she'd be cooped up in her room, trying to draw something new, although they just looked like curls and lines of nothing. her parents praised her every time, and danbi had been pleased. she loved drawing, and it seemed as if she wouldn't ever stop.
when she was around ten years old, she was perusing the library, trying to find something else to read, when she had found herself in the comic books section. because she was mostly exposed to reading normal fiction books without any pictures in them, danbi didn't think too much about finding any comic books for a long time, but in that small space, she uncovered the treasure that is art and manhwa. she became obsessed with that style of art and would imitate it, and had become addicted to those types of stories. she loved flipping every page and seeing what else would be presented to her. after years of drawing and finding her creative style, danbi had decided to open a fan account for her favorite kpop band, which she was acquaintanced to when she was about thirteen years old. they had debuted a few months prior, but danbi found them randomly on youtube and stanned  them for years. it wasn't until she was sixteen, however, when she decided to start an art account dedicated to her boys. the art she showed wasn't as good as it would be, but she showed a ton of dedication, and over the years, amassed a large bit of followers. at eighteen, she decided to start selling fanart and merchandise, and at that point, it was clear. she wanted to be an art major.

 relationships
— yoon minhyun father
danbi and her father aren't the closest bunch, but they do talk and have random discussions. her father is a bit more on the serious side, however, and they don't particularly share a lot of jokes. despite that, minhyuk is supportive with danbi's art career (mostly because she showed him that she is making money from it and not starving) and is a core part of her foundation.
— yoon haemi mother
danbi and her mother are definitely closer than danbi and her father, but danbi isn't too particularly open with her about deeper topics. they do talk a lot more, and haemi is always encouraging danbi to do art, and even was the one who mentioned that danbi should definitely study art one day, when she was a kid. they tend to text each other few short comments here and there, but overall, they do have a strong bond.

— peachieyoons art account this is her art instagram that is mostly used to post her art progress. it involves a multitude of mediums, mostly watercolor; oil paintings; and digital art, but danbi also sells various merchandise as well, like pins; prints; keychains; stickers; and more. she also has a twitter of the same name, but the content is pretty much the same, mixed in with a few random tweets here and there.

yoon danbi's private files!
the story  yoon danbi and lee taeyong were never supposed to be acquainted in a normal world, but this world definitely isn't normal. despite that, you could say that they're either side of the same coin, with danbi afraid of getting into relationships, due to the fear of not finding the right one, and with taeyong afraid of becoming a bit too committed to the wrong person.
when they first become formally acquainted with each other, they don't necessarily see each other as soulmate potential at all. after all, they're forced to partner up in a project that is somewhat touchy to the both of them, and neither of them had a positive opinion about the other right from the bat. taeyong looked like a slacker in all ways and danbi looked airheaded as hell (as well as plain). despite that, the two didn't want to flunk an introductory class like that, so they decided to work on it in their free time. they would meet up at cafes, the school library, their art room, and more, but most times, they'd be talking about the project. it was about the idea of being named vs unnamed, but of course, since it was an art class, it wasn't as easy as just writing an essay about it and leaving it at that. they actually had to show a bit of creativity, and since the two had different art styles, they couldn't seem to agree on anything. taeyong wanted to be deeper about it, but danbi didn't want to think about the source of her pain too much and insisted it be more surface level. it slightly irritated taeyong because he had a certain vision he upheld to and work he was hearing from danbi definitely didn't seem the best. it was enough to get an a for the assignment, but not enough to really be something they could be proud of. of course, taeyong didn't particularly care about being named or unnamed, so he asked danbi what she was.
it was a shock, but from then on, the two became closer in a way. danbi confessed her being unnamed, since he was being awfully persistent about it, and taeyong's idea was to interview people who were named or unnamed and to incorporate it into a painting that he and danbi would simultaneously work on whenever they had free time. thus, he started with them first, confessing that he was also an unnamed like her, but that he didn't care as well. at that point, they shared a conversation about them being unnamed and while it was natural to unload all of her burdens at him, danbi was ashamed that he unraveled her so easily. despite that, she began to see him in a different light. at first, she found him to be a lazy fboi that looked like he didn't care about his work, but she began to see him as someone dedicated to art and had deep, brooding thoughts. granted, he still had the semblance of an fboi, but he seemed to have more depth to him too.
from then on, their relationship seemed to change, little by little as they worked as a team. they would conduct interviews together, work on their ideas together, and shop for art supplies together. it made danbi feel like he was someone she could rely on, but the thought scared her further. she thought she finally found someone who understood her thoughts, and taeyong was always so sweet to listen to her in moments where she doubted herself, and he even encouraged her. he found out about her little art account and praised her, he admired her deep-hitting works that she kept privately to herself, and much more. for taeyong, he saw danbi in a very similar light. she was someone that brought comfort to him, as she never doubted his words or even questioned his thinking. she understood his deepest thoughts, even the ones he was too afraid to share with his friends, but he also wondered to himself why he had such an affinity to this girl. why was he sharing his innermost secrets with her, why did he look forward to working on the project with her, just plain why
with time, the two hoped and wondered if the other person was truly their one and only soulmate. they wondered if they could finally rest and be comfortable with one person for the rest of their life. they also feel their insecurities, however, and often wonder when they'll get over their fear of choosing the wrong person or their fear of wasting their time. there's a certain fear that lingers, even with the desire of romance brushing past them. despite that, they still feel some sort of affinity even at the sight of one another, and there's just a certain bond that they can't explain. it just exists.

the day that started it  there's a certain romanticization with being named that danbi was always affixed with. after all, it seemed so ideal to have your soulmate's name already given to you, and danbi dreamed about her fateful encounter with her soulmate, the sparks, the chemistry, all of it. she wanted to know what it'd be like and on the eve of her seventeenth birthday, she prayed hard for to wake up in the morning and to have a name on her body. despite that, days passed after her birthday and she checked everywhere, but there was no sign of a tattoo. her skin was untouched. despite the chances becoming slimmer and slimmer, danbi waited and checked the mail everyday for about a month, before giving up. no matter how many times she's checked the mail or twirled around at the mirror, it was hopeless. she was unnamed.
with danbi's certain romanticization of being named, there was also danbi's certain fear about being unnamed. she feared wasting her time and never finding her one true soulmate. of course, the named and unnamed both have soulmates, but danbi was scared. what if she committed all that time into one person, but they weren't who she wanted to be? they weren't the explosions in her chest, the brightest one in the room, they weren't anything to her but unknown. truthfully, she was a bit afraid of making the wrong choice. she just wanted her love life to be laid out in front of her.

the ending  even though danbi fears dating because of the whole soulmate and unnamed situation and taeyong is afraid of being too committed to someone, they do feel an affinity with each other, so they at least decide to try things out, but it ends up better than expected, so they start dating.

appearance  tall and handsome are always the words that are uttered whenever someone is describing lee taeyong. he stands at 174 cm and is blessed with the brightest features a person could ever ask for. with a head full of dyed blond hair that is styled impossibly perfectly everyday, many notice his large brown orbs that seem to stare affectionately at others, along with his full set of lips that speak so sweetly as well. it isn't a shocker that he's popular for his looks, but taeyong is aware of it, and uses it to his benefit. after all, who would be mean to this dashing young man with the cute button nose and the dangly earring ever present on his lobes?

occupation  student + part-time waiter at a restaurant

 personality traits
debonair, carefree, leaderly

 personality
debonair
"ah, there he goes..." a random student commented to no one in particular, as he saw lee taeyong walk by him. "it's lee taeyong..."
as if the other man had heard his peer talking about him, taeyong's eyes flew to meet the student's and he smiled dashingly at him, stopping his tracks. "good morning," he had greeted to the shocked student. "see you later."
he walked off, confidence oozing in his every step.
carefree
"you know, you should be a lot more upset," a female had insisted to taeyong, after the two had been reprimanded for being late. "you helped me out earlier anyway... thank you for catching my dog..."
taeyong sent her a bright smile, as the two stood outside the classroom, awaiting their teacher to come out again. "it isn't a problem, and don't worry about this. it's not like i really care too much anyway. i'm chilling."
leaderly
"alright everyone," taeyong said to the basketball team. "i think we should focus on drills today, we've been kind of slacking on them, don't you guys think?" even though he wasn't one of the core members of the team, taeyong had a certain dedication to the team and didn't want them to falter. he had lots of other things to do, so he didn't want basketball to demand much of his attention, but the boys were open and respected everyone's opinion whenever it came to the sport. "let's split into teams and work hard!" it was easier too, knowing that lee taeyong could always control a group.
stubborn
"i think this would be a better direction to take my art in, though," taeyong insisted to his art professor. they had a conversation after class regarding taeyong's art collection project for the semester, and he had come to defend his stance because his professor marked him with a less than satisfactory grade.
"taeyong, i really feel like you could do better though..." it was no surprise, he'd anticipated that comeback.
"i know, but i am passionate about this, and this is pretty important to me. i'm doing it otherwise, i'm just letting you know that i think your standards aren't fitting."
taeyong excused himself and stalked off, keeping his own resolve firm.
conceited
"you know, it's not a secret that i'm pretty attractive and i am pretty talented too," taeyong stated, clearly making it known that he was not joking about that.
"you're so annoying," danbi replied, barely looking up to meet his gaze. "you're not that handsome nor talented."
taeyong scoffed softly at her. "yeah, tell that to everyone else, you know i'm handsome and can do anything."
danbi didn't reply.
impulsive
"what are you doing?" taeyong's friend asked, noticing his pal's silence. taeyong seemed busy on his phone, typing something in aggressively, and his friend was curious as to what he was doing.
"i'm looking up this clothing brand and i'm trying to see if they have other designs," he replied. "should i get it?"
his friend had opened his mouth to speak, before taeyong shook his head and mumbled, "nah, f it, i'm going to buy it."
his bank sent an alert regarding his online purchase three minutes later.
narrow-minded
taeyong narrowed his eyes at his friend's bold statement. "look, i know you are totally on the other side in regards to politics from me," his friend stated, "but what's the big deal of having billionaires not pay huge taxes? they earn their money."
"i have to get to work anyway, but i'm not listening to you about this. i'd just get mad," taeyong muttered, slinging his bag over his shoulder and standing up to leave.
"taeyong, ugh, you never want to listen to other people's opinions. you literally don't listen to anyone's view when it conflicts with yours."
"meh," taeyong brushed it off. "don't particularly care."

 status  acquaintances

first meeting  taeyong and danbi have always been aware of each other's presence, since they're the same year and in the same school of study. even though he's a graphic design major and danbi is more of just a general art major, the two do share a lot of fundamental art classes, and everyone all knows that there are very limited classes when it comes to art, so a lot of people are naturally acquainted with everyone else already.
however, the two officially met this semester in their shared design fundamentals class. it was already a class notorious for its unconventional or controversial semester-long project that changes with every term. the professor had randomly assigned students together, and announced that the topic in this semester would be the idea of being named vs unnamed and danbi already hated it. she was already self-conscious enough about being unnamed, but she was paired up with a random guy who didn't even look smart, so she thought it'd be a miserable time for her for sure. cue, having to do the entire semester's project by herself once more.

interactions  at first, danbi and taeyong will be polite with each other, since the both of them were just newly paired up with each other and knew basically nothing about the other. to danbi, taeyong was just a fboi that liked messing around and didn't seem too serious about anything, and to taeyong, danbi just looked plain. they don't really see eye to eye at the beginning in regards to what they want to do for their project and danbi refuses to do anything super deep because she doesn't want to traumatize herself the entire semester, but taeyong insists that they have to in order to create art that they'd be proud of. danbi truthfully thought he existed without any thought, but throughout the duration of their partnership, taeyong showed a lot of profound and heartfelt reflections, and danbi began to change her mind about him. perhaps, he wasn't the vapid fboi she thought he was?
the two begin to become a lot closer, as they confide in each other about their status as an unnamed, danbi clearly more upset about it than taeyong. however, he understands the struggle of being unnamed, so he is often there to provide a shoulder or to give his own words of comfort to her, and the same with danbi. whenever taeyong finds himself in a sticky situation or dabbles in something not ideal, he finds himself running to her, probably because he finds a shared common interest between them, and so, they begin to form a sort of friendship, if that's what you could call it. they definitely do trust each other with their deepest feelings though.

 relationships
— lee byungwoo father
taeyong and his father aren't the closest, as his father is a constant workaholic and isn't present at home very much. he also wasn't too supportive with taeyong's art career, though is putting up with it because he's his son. the two don't particularly talk a lot, but they try.
— lee miyoung mother
taeyong definitely is much closer to his mother, although it's mostly because his mother is a housewife, so she has more time to spend with taeyong. she tends to spoil him because he's her only child, but isn't afraid to be strict as well, though it's rare. she does support taeyong's career in art more than his father, but still has her doubts about it.
— jung yoonoh close friend
jung yoonoh, or jaehyun as he also likes to be called, has been taeyong's friend for a while. the two met back when they were in high school together, and naturally became friends because of their popularity. despite that, taeyong had no complaints about it because jaehyun has proved to be one of his greatest friends and he will confide in him about everything. they're both on the basketball team and live relatively close to each other, so there's no excuse for them to not be friends. luckily though, they're both some big fbois for sure

 social media
— leetaeyongs personal this is his handle for everything and he uses it for instagram, twitter, and more. taeyong is more careful about what he posts, and likes to create an aesthetic effect with his posts, so he tends to edit a lot of his pictures and portray himself in an artistic way. he's not one to use a ton of emojis to caption pictures, nor is he one to use a long caption either. his instagram is definitely more formal than his twitter, however. he'll tweet some random stuff because no one actually cares about twitter. his snapchats, however, are a mix of the two.

lee taeyong's private files!
the day that started it their pov  when lee taeyong turned seventeen, he didn't want to make it a big deal, but he wondered what his name would look like and its position on his body. if it were visible, perhaps he would have an easier time trying to find her, but even if it wasn't he'd find her eventually. he knew he would. there was such a magical interest everyone had in being named and taeyong wondered if he would be lucky enough to experence it. cue to the week after his birthday where he found out that he was unnamed. it was definitely disappointing for sure, since taeyong spent all that time wonderinf whether or not he would be named, but of course this was a possibility and he just didn't think about it as hard. there wasn't anything wrong with being unnamed, taeyong would try to convince himself. after all, he had much more options when it came to dating and he would be able to do whatever he wanted. relationships would be more carefree to him, since they were most likely not going to be his soulmate right? he could date anyone freely, instead of being tied down to someone. taeyong thought that he could remain entering these useless relationships as a quick way of getting attention and that he didn't care about finding his soulmate that much, but taeyong was also in denial as well.

lee taeyong's q&a!
so, who knows? who knows that you're unnamed?  taeyong stopped to think about the list of people he's confessed to, though he didn't have to think for long. it wasn't a very long list. "oh, just the closest people to me," he murmured, "there's my parents, my best friend, and maybe a few others? though if people ask about it and are curious, i don't really keep it a secret. what's there to hide?" he let out the brightest grin.

is there a reason why you told them?  taeyong leaned back in his chair, deeply in thought once more. even though the boy looked like he didn't have thoughts, he was more reflective than anyone else had thought. "not really, to be honest. i don't necessarily think it's a sin to be unnamed, and i have more freedom to be with the people i like? if that makes sense to you. i think i've had a lot of different moments that i am glad to have experienced and a lot of memories i cherish, which involve a multitude of people so... i don't think there's a reason why i told people that i'm an unnamed, but i also don't think there's anything wrong with it."

what are your feelings towards the opposite party?  "whoa that's interesting to ask," taeyong said in surprise. "i never really thought about the opposite party like that. i mean, i do think it's... bittersweet i guess? it's cool that they know who they're supposed to end up with and sort of who they 'belong' to in a sense, but it also is sad to me because they won't get to experience all the different things there are to loving others. i don't feel any resentment or anything towards people who're named, but that's not my style."

popularity  taeyong is definitely a 9/10 on the popularity scale and everyone knows his name and who he is. girls fawn over him because of his good looks, guys fawn over him because he's very popular with girls, and he's relatable so everyone loves that. of course, who wouldn't like a guy like him? even people who insist that they don't like him feel a smidge bit of jealousy for him.
yoon danbi's q&a
please introduce yourself!  "hi!" danbi greeted cheerfully, "i'm yoon danbi, and i am a second year in college!"

have you told anyone about your current status unnamed? if so, what were their reaction?  danbi scratched the back of her head shyly. "well, i've only told a few people... it was mainly just my few close friends. it was kind of awkward, i'm the only unnamed one out of them, and they kinda pitied me at the time, but i think they don't mind it much now? though i mean they also don't bring it up either..."

because you are an unnamed, what are your current feelings towards the other party?  "i'm super jealous," danbi stated honestly. "i wish i knew who my soulmate was, and i wish i understood what it was like to understand. some people say it's beautiful because of the sparks, others say it's incredible because of the emotions you feel, but... i wonder if it's the same for those who are unnamed? probably not." there was a bitterness left on her lips.

how do you feel about the stigma that is with being an unnamed? do you think it's a blessing or a curse?  danbi, in surprise, had shifted uncomfortably in her chair. "i think it's kind of a curse, is it not? we're already unlucky as is without having a clue as to who our soulmate is, and do soulmates even exist now that i know that there are people who may never meet them? it brings a lot of deep thoughts within me. i think it's a curse."

why?  "doesn't it feel unfair to you?" danbi asked rhetorically, her eyes b with a sort of fury and sadness. "i sometimes think about how lucky my friends must be to be able to be a part of the named people you know? i don't know, there's just a lot of things i wish i could've had that i don't currently, but maybe that is just me being slightly bitter."

after being confirmed that you're unnamed, have you've ever been in a romantic relationship with the opposite party?  danbi paused to look down, with her finger against her chin, as she recounted her past relationships. "i mean, i definitely have had relationships after being confirmed that i was unnamed but they weren't real relationships - they were mostly just flings. it was also with other unnamed people, so i guess we were most definitely just trying to find company.

how did it feel? how long were you guys together? please state how you guys broke up.  danbi faltered for a moment, "i mean, of course it felt good to be wanted by someone, but still, i also think it was a bit lonely. it somehow feels bittersweet, kinda in a way? just knowing that you're with someone because it's an easy thing to do, rather than to actually... be in love with them? but i also do think that it's just a part of how we unnamed people are. anyway, those flings were temporary and lasted a couple of months, three at most. it usually ends with someone, mostly me, saying that it's been too long and we should find other people. it doesn't help that the other person always agrees."

do you believe the term "soulmate," and do you believe that everyone has one?  "hard to say," danbi sighed. "i mean it definitely would be cool to think everyone had a soulmate, but it wouldn't make sense how some would be lucky enough to know the name of their soulmate versus those who don't know a thing about their supposed soulmate. i think the answer to that is way beyond me. though i do hope i have one."

do you ever wish you were the other party?  danbi gave a thin smile. "isn't it everyone's wish to be named?"
the end.
