"this smells like it's two days old. still good." — for someone who doesn't have much and is actually too lazy to choose among clothes, dareum is the kind of guy who goes with the seasons. on most days, he often goes with the usual jeans, plain shirt and an old ratty pair of runners. he'd also be seen wearing black caps (just to cover his wayward shock of hair becuse he can't bother to comb it). if all else fails, dareum's good ol' hoodie from when he was 12 does the trick.

"for the last time, don't call me pretty!" — dareum has an elaborate tattoo on his left forearm, two nautical stars on his left and right shoulders, and one which looks like a superman — all of which he got when he turned 21. he thought he would look manly and less pretty if he got one.

ELABORATION :   dareum has had many struggles growing up and most of them were due to financial troubles. learning it the hard way, his perseverance and hardwork have been tested by time as he pushed himself to work hard and earn hard. always having to do things on his own, it also helped that he was skillful and very much resourceful — no matter what consequences presented, dareum always made sure that he found a way out. that was how he has survived despite frequent turmoils.

however, constant tests of time and devoutness have turned dareum into someone who's very different from the bright child that he once was. he has become dark, jaundiced, hostile with no positivity to look forward to except for a tomorrow, a tomorrow in which he will get to see his brother again. after all, all of his efforts were for dahyuk.

most of the time, dareum chooses to ignore people and work quietly by himself. on the event that human interaction is mandatory, he'd spit out a few one-word responses. he'd rather not waste his time and get straight to the point instead.

more often than not, his responses come off as sarcastic and rude but it's not like he means it to be mean. and while people do take it personally and call him out for it, he'd say a curt "sorry," and would move on.

HISTORY :  dareum has had to work hard at an early age to support his little brother, dahyuk. with only being 16 when their parents died in a fire, dareum had no one else to go to besides his aunt in busan who was a little less than willing to help out. at that time, aunt sora had a full house. with already six children and no job, dareum and dahyuk would have been two extra mouths to feed.

with hardwork and perseverance and the thought of feeding his brother in mind, dareum juggled among three jobs and barely managed to graduate high school. afterwhich, he continued working and with more time in his hands, juggled with two more (jobs).

amongst all this, he has turned to music as his sole comforter. dareum has developed a great love for it and soon, he's writing lyrics and these lyrics turned into verses and verses into songs. at 17, despite being underage, dareum had been performing in underground scenes. his talent despite his evident youth drew much attention to the young dareum. what's more is that his lyrics possessed so much passion and so much emotion in them that it was quite impossible for him not to be recognized.

LIFESTYLE :
"oh, . i'm late for work!" — with being an underground rapper his full-time job now, dareum only has to live with one other job — that is being a helper in a quaint library downtown. not that he enjoyed reading, hells no (although he does like some poetry once in a while). there was something about the small library that hit home. dahyuk always loved it when his big brother brought him books and hence, the library. and no, he isn't the librarian nor the storekeeper. he's just the guy who drops off the deliveries of new books and the one who cleans the shelves free of dust, arranges the books in alphabetical order and in dewey decimal classification system. once the clock hits 9pm, he heads to the usual scene and performs.

"i've got a few bonuses for you, lil buddy." — he still hasn't earned enough to buy a bigger place for him and his brother. dahyuk still stays with their aunt and dareum still sends him the money. however tempting, aunt sora knows better than to keep the money to herself and dutifully gives dahyuk the money dareum sends bimonthly.

"well, you know what they say. home is where the trash is." — dareum lives alone in a cramped up apartment in some rooftop in seoul. well he's technically alone. most mornings would find dareum waking up next to some girl he goofed off with the last night; probably a who thought that the young rapper is pretty cute so might as well give him the time of night. (he'd send the girl home dazed with his pretty, apologetic smile saying that it had all been a mistake but it was nice meeting her.) the rooftop apartment is the same one he's been living in for the past five years.  

TRIVIA :
♡  "crap, i gotta pay my rent."   - although rapping earns him enough to live by, it still isn't enough for him and his brother to live together. dahyuk still has to go to high school and preferrably finish university as well. dareum still has to work.
♡  "you're all precious to me."   - hostile? yes. but to his family? no. dareum would most likely tell everybody else to go themselves but he would never be hostile to his family. when he's with them, there'd be another version of dareum that's totally different from what the public sees.
♡  "i never learned any of that in school."   - dareum still dreams of finishing a degree in university. but dahyuk is his priority.
♡  "you think you're real cool, huh?"   - there was one night in the club before his performance when a young man in nice looking clothes talked down on him only because he was wearing "a trashy shirt and a trashy looking snapback, too." the young man went home with a black eye and dareum went home with no gigs.
♡  "a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do."   - he lied. the reason for the elaborate tattoos is not to make him look manly (although there's that, too). the primary reason for it is to cover up the goddamned tattoo on his wrist that he absolutely hates. why? more on that later.
♡  "omg, is that python?"   - dareum has gained himself quite a stable fanbase. most of them are girls.
♡  "oh no, not him again."   - there's this one annoying guy who frequents the library and although he does no actual harm, there's something about him that ticks dareum off with his perky attitude, huge- glasses and pesky smile that seems to be perpetually plastered onto his face.
