choi woojin

vxronica — nica — 7/10

basic profile.

name — Choi Woojin.

nickname(s) — Jin / a lazy alias; used by most of his peers.

birthday & age — September 22, 1994, 21 years old.

birthplace & hometown — Jinhae-gu, South Korea.

ethnicity — Korean.

language(s) — Fluent in the Korean language. Has ample knowledge on the English language.

face claim & backup — Park Jinyoun(g). Kim Hanbi(n).

me, me, and me.

style — Being a web dev student with a hectic schedule and ty, demanding professors doesn't really give Woojin much time to contemplate on what to wear. With him attending university during the day (plus serving as part-time barista after classes) and writing codes during the night, paying attention to his outfits isn't a priority. Woojin usually pulls on a pair of tattered, faded jeans that looks too worn out for its own good and a sweater that smells like it hasn't met the washing machine for a long time now. Because he couldn't bother with taming down his hair, Woojin would usually cover his wayward hair with a backwards cap. And to complete his usual get-up, Jin sports a heavy pair of eyebags.

personality — Despite his poor sense of fashion and pitiful appearance, Woojin usually gives off a positive vibe with his warm, friendly smile and kind eyes that seem to light up as he speaks. He is a ray of sunshine in the drastic storm that is university. A next-door neighbor who's always ready to lend a helping hand, he loves getting out of his way to be of service to those who need his assistance. Be it in making a project or just a bubbly friend to lighten up a mood, Woojin is always there.

Maybe it's because of the nice guy vibe that he gives off that he's slightly abused by his peers. He's always so nice and so helpful that he fails to see that he needs to take care of himself as well. Even when he's tired of working, he's just one call away from helping out. To Woojin, there is no such thing as tired when someone is in need of help. Maybe because he has grown up in an environment where he has to follow orders and stay nice to survive. Maybe because to Woojin, being nice is the only way to survive.

Someone can only be nice for so long. Woojin's goodness hasn't always brought him good things. His nice demeanor has lost him opportunities at being a capital s Something. Not to mention, being capital s Someone's. Jin is such a nice person and would give up just about anything, even the love of his life. And he did just that.

But someone can only be nice for so long.

And Woojin is tired of being the nice guy.

funfacts

  • Choi Woojin is an orphan.
  • At least he likes to think of it that way.

home is where the heart is.

background — Choi Woojin is not actually an orphan. Although he grew up in an orphanage, his mother and father are very well alive and breathing. However, he's had no memories of the winter night that he was left in Jinhae-gu Center for Orphans, probably becuase he was a little over a year old when his mother realized that she's too young to be a mother. He grew up in the good care of the women volunteers of the orphanage and around his numerous brothers and sisters.

In the orphanage, a lot of the children have succeeded in the long run. However, quite a number have also gone astray and were sent to juvenile detentions. Woojin saw the effect of such behaviors and he didn't want that for himself. His niceness is attributed to this and although it's not bad, it wasn't particularly good for him to be excessively nice either.

Although he was left behind in an orphanage for most of his life, the only reason why he can attend university and pay for his tuition is the financial support he gets from his father who has continued to support him growing up — financially. Woojin however knew better than to seek his parents and ask for questions that would probably lead to more. Besides, he probably didn't want to hear the answers either. Instead, he studied well because by doing so, he would be able to support himself and not rely on his parents anymore and repeat their mistakes.

present —  After graduating from high school, Jin has moved out from the orphanage and started living in the campus dormitory. However, he still finds time to visit the place where he grew up in and play with the children or help out with managing them. He's actually very good at taming them down.

family

  • Gong Sooah (58) | Guardian | She is the owner of the orphanage where Jin grew up. Making up for the mother figure that Woojin clearly lacks, she has grown fond of the boy and loved him dearly.
  • Gong Junho (59) | Guardian | Like his wife, Gong Junho looks very dearly upon Woojin. Jin is the son that they never had, being unable to bear children of their own, which is also the reason why they built the orphanage in the first place. Woojin looks up to him like a father and is glad that he does.

friends

  • Im Jaebum (21) | Best friend | Although Woojin is an all-around friendly person, Jaebum became his first and closest friend. They did just about anything together and while Woojin is nice and all goody-two-shoes, Jaebum is his polar opposite — always causing michief around the orphanage. But even so, they remain close. Woojin would give up just about anything for his best friend.
  • Baek Sumin (19) | Friend | Sumin grew up with Woojin in the orphanage. She came into the orphanage when he was seven and she was five. Being the new kid who had no one else, Jin became the one person she first trusted, even before the actual social workers of the orphanage. She became friends with Jaebum as well and the three have been inseparable ever since. When they grew older, it became pretty obvious that Sumin had an eye on Jaebum and the feelings were reciprocated. Too bad, nobody noticed Woojin's heart was for Sumin, too.

the one and only.

love interest — Coming soon. Or maybe not.

personality — Woojin has no idea who she is, moreso, how she acts. All he knows is that no matter what, he is going to love the woman in his heart. Kind of stupid and sappy, yeah, but Jin wouldn't want to hurt her in any way. Although it wouldn't hurt if she's really nice, too.

relationship  — For most of his life, Jin believed that Sumin is the only one he loved. However, it was unclear to him that his best friend liked her, too. To make matters worse, their feelings were mutual. Being the nice friend that he is, Jin gave her up to his best friend because he loved them both so much and he valued their friendship more. But he's tired of being nice, tired of being deprived of what he knows is his. So, to find himself and his one true love, he has decided to go on the roadtrip to his future.

comments/suggestions — hello! i absolutely love the idea of the roadtrip : ) just in case it was unclear, (because i didn't know where else to explain the reason why he was joining the trip — i used the free plotline heh) woojin's reason for joining the trip is because he wants to go and find someone to love because Sumin can't be his. however, he doesn't find someone to love. instead, he finds himself in the trip, who he really is. he learns to love himself and that it's okay to be bad sometimes, to be selfish and to indulge.

scene request — nothing in particular hihi BUUUUUT if you do want him to have a love interest, it would be interesting if the she's someone from the roadtrip ; )
