“Excuse me?” Jie asked at the hotel receptionist.

“Yes…?” the lady looked at Jie, looking a bit confused.

“I would like to get a room for one,” said Jie to the receptionist.

“I’m sorry, but we don’t give rooms to someone less than 18 years old, young boy,” she smiled.

Jie chuckled, shaking her head, and showed the lady her ID.

“Oh?” she exclaimed, then looking at Jie and smiled in a way that Jie know too well. “I’m sorry, young man,” she purred.

‘Oh, dear god’ she thought, and passed a chuckle. This made the lady look offended.

“I’m sorry, ma’am,” she said to the lady, covering her fist over her lips, trying to hold in a giggle. “Can you give me a room now?”

“Oh, sure, sure,” she grinned and turned to her computer, hitting up some keys. Then she turned to Jie and gave her a room cardkey and her ID. “Here you go, young man,” she smiled in an attempt-alluring way.

Jie took her cardkey and ID from the lady and smiled, “Thank you.” She took her ID and showed it to the lady again, “By the way, I’m sorry, but, I’m female.” She then smiled, put in her cardkey and ID in her front pockets and turned to go to her room, leaving the shocked embarrassed receptionist behind as her friend laughed at her. ‘How can she miss that even after looking at my ID?’

In her room, she plopped down on her bed and sighed, staring at the ceiling. She then took out her phone from her pocket and text Nyan.

‘Arrived safely in Taipei. Currently in room, hungry. :( ’

Jie stretched on her bed, thinking if she should go out or order room service. Moments later, her phone beeped.

‘Thank goodness! Go order room service, Ka. Don’t go out. It’s already night. Someone might kidnap you, no matter how boyish you look. >:( ’

Jie laughed at Nyan’s reply, both about answering her mental question and her kidnap and boyish statement. She quickly replied back.

‘Haha. I get it, Nyan. Oh, speaking of my boyish looks, the reception lady of the hotel I’m in tried hitting on me today…’

‘No way! HAHA. But that’s not something new. :P ’

‘Shut it, you annoying brat. Oh and, HOW DARE YOU TELL DAE ABOUT MY (previous) WALLPAPER! >:( ’

‘Ouch, my phone’s eardrums? HAHA. :P What? He seemed rather happy to me when I told him…with that blushing awkwardness too. Hehe. Speaking of which, did you hear from them yet?’

‘Aish, you’re really a brat. -__-“ And no, I haven’t. I have a feeling they’re expecting me to text them first…’

‘Then? GO TEXT THEM!’

‘Eh? Nah, maybe later. Pretty sure they’re busy. Okay, I’m starving and tired. I’ll text you again soon. XO’

‘You better. Take care, Ka. XO’

After reading Jie text, Jie called for room service. She watched Taiwanese dramas as she ate, through out the night until she completely learned the language..again.

Jie woke up at noon the next day after watching all those Taiwanese Dramas until the late hours. After she showered and got dressed, she went out to get something to eat. Jie chuckled to herself when she saw the embarrassed receptionist from the day before trying to avoid Jie’s vision.

Jie found a restaurant close by the restaurant and went in. She ordered and checked her phone to search for places to go.

“Eh? Jie? Is that you?” someone asked in mandarin.

Jie looked up from her phone and was happy to see who it was.

“Aunty Yenny?!” she squealed getting up and hugged each other.

“Wow, it’s been a while!” the lady beamed. “Mind if I sit?”

“It really is,” Jie giggled, “please.”

“What are you doing in Taiwan, Jie? How’ve you been? I’d like to say you’ve changed, but I can’t see much,” Aunty Yen laugh
