Serving the Waitress

Bubble Tea with a Side of Kim Mingyu

"That'll be coming right up, sir." You flashed a smile to the old man who had just ordered coffee and some cakes as you scribbled the information down in your notepad. As you walked back to the counter to put down the note, you remembered to check the time.

Shoot, it was almost 2 o'clock.

You quickly fixed your hair up and smoothed out your apron, practicing a million different smiles to show off to him, as customers gave you weird looks and thought you were talking to yourself.

"Order up~!" You're coworker sang as she rang the bell on the counter and slid the coffee and cakes towards your way. You smiled eagerly as you organized the cakes and coffee on the silver tray and made your way back to the old man.

"Enjoy your stay, sir." You smiled big at him, but secretly grinned to yourself when you heard the front door swing open just as you set the man's coffee in front of him, and you didn't even have to look up to see who it was.

It was 2 o'clock, you knew already.

Holding the tray under your arm, you looked up to see the other waitresses fight their way in whispers and argued who was going to serve him this time.

"No fair, Mihee! You did it yesterday!"

"And I'd be damned if I didn't do it today as well!"

You giggled and shook your head, finding this the perfect opportunity to steal their thunder. You fixed your posture, clutched your notepad tightly, and as you strolled over to his usual seat by the window, you couldn't help but overhear the other waitresses bickering to each other about you for just casually taking their spot.

You couldn't help but smirk to yourself in confidence. You didn't know what it was, but today you had a good feeling about this.

As you approached him, his eyes lightened up and he shot you the brightest smile you'd seen all morning.

God, he looked so handsome, especially in his school uniform. You knew this was around the time school would end for high schoolers, and you couldn't have been more thankful for that.

"Good afternoon, Noona," he bowed his head slightly and brought his eyes back up to your gaze. "Did you do something with your hair? It looks nice." He winked knowing this would make your cheeks flush, and oh how right he was.

You giggled softly and nodded, bringing your hand up to your lips, covering your mouth in embarrassment and shyness. "I might've changed a few things. Will it be the usual today?" You got your pen ready to immediately scribble the words 'bubble tea', however, he stopped you before you could have the chance.

"Ah, that's okay Noona. I actually came for something else." He smiled and you scrunched your eyebrows together in curiosity.

This was different, you thought.

Before you could ask, he reached out and grabbed your wrist, gently pulling you down to sit across from him in the booth. Your eyes widened in shock and you actually almost dropped your tray, but you caught it with your other hand before it could create a ruckus.

"Yah! Kim Mingyu! What is this?" You were about to get up to hold your position before your boss could walk out and see you completely flirting with a customer and potentially even get fired.

Your heart fluttered when you heard him casually chuckle softly in response and then bite his lip.

"Listen, I've been wanting to ask you if you'd like to go on a date with me some time?"

Oh, no. Is he serious? Butterflies completely invaded your stomach and you felt like jumping out your seat and screaming like the little lovestruck girl you were. Kim Mingyu, wants to go on a date, with me? It almost seemed too good to be true.

You were already thinking about the shoes you would wear, what outfit you'd pick out, the makeup, you were busy planning all of this to the point where you almost forgot to answer.

"A-Ah...Of cour-"

Just then, the doors of the kitchen swung open and you heard the voice that would snap you back to reality."Yah, ____! What are you doing?" Your boss scolded you, crossing her arms. "Up! Why are you sitting? Do you want to lose your job?"

Your eyes widened and you quickly stood up, bowing a couple times while apologizing each time. "It won't happen again." Your eyes were glued to the floor as she side eyed you.

"Come with me."

Oh god. I'm really going to get fired for this. You panicked as you knew your parents would kill you for losing your job over some boy.

You nodded, not daring to look back at Mingyu as you shamefully followed her to the kitchen.

He felt guilty as he watched the doors close behind you and leaned back, sighing. 'This is my fault.'

Expecting to get scolded, you prepared yourself by wincing as your boss turned around to face you.

However, a scolding was the last thing she was going to give you.

"Oh my! Are you two dating? When did this happen?"

Your eyes widened as you looked back up. "H-Huh?" Were you hearing her right? Dating?! Wasn't she just yelling at you for sitting down with him?

"N-No Ma'am, we aren't...a-am I going to get fired for this?" She laughed whole heartedly at your response and shook her head. You could only gaze at her in bewilderment. This woman was crazy.

"Fire you? Because of you, he's been coming here every day. He's been bringing me MONEY! If I fire you, he won't even bother to show up now would he? Now, go back out there. Talk to him! The whole staff has been rooting for you two," She smiled warmly and urged you to get back out there, but your mind was too busy trying to process what the hell had just happened.

You couldn't even find the words to say to him as she pushed you through the doors. Your eyes scanned the area to look back at his seat, but he had already left. You sighed sadly as you made your way to the table, and tilted your head in confusion as you saw some tips and a piece of paper underneath the money.

You couldn't help but smile uncontrollably. 'Huh? He tipped me and he didn't even order?' You took the tip and stuffed it in your back pocket before unfolding the piece of paper a various amount of times before reading its context.

Yong Su San Restaurant
6 o' clock, Friday

Wear something nice, it's your turn to be served.

Your heart fluttered as you found yourself reading it over and over again, giggling at nothing other than the fact that you had at date on Friday night, with the Kim Mingyu.
