Chapter 1

I'd tutored him when he was struggling with school work. I'd make sure he gets his daily intake of necessary nutrients. I was the one who would always make him smile that goofy but dazzling smile when he was having a gloomy day. I cared for him, I smothered him with my love. It was as if I was his own mother.

Now, I feel so helpless. When he screams in pain, there's nothing I can do about it. I can't even comfort him and tell him he'll be okay, because I'd probably be lying. The only thing I can really do is sit here by his side, whispering "I love you"'s and other sweet nothings to him; and just hope for the doctors to come in with a miracle.

But then he had another attack; his heart monitor completely stopped beeping.

And I couldn't stop the tears from quietly streaming down my face. And I swore that I'd never believe in the bull so-called hope again.

It aches; no, not because I'll never be able to see my precious Taemin's smiling face again, but because I had to watch him go, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it.
