The sky wore a veil of gold and grey

"Are you sure Mommy won't get mad?" Jimin asked uncertainly as Taehyung pushed him toward the door.

"Probably, but even if he does it'll be worth it," his twin grinned.

"But Mommy's scary when he's mad," Jimin protested.

"He won't get mad if Daddy doesn't care," Taehyung said, nodding with all the wisdom that his six years had given him.

Jimin nodded. "True." He grinned, taking Taehyung's hand. "Let's go."

--

The rain was falling around them as they dashed into the yard, shrieking as the cold droplets spattered against their skin. The sky was still bright, despite the light grey rain clouds and the grass was already soaking wet against the twins' bare feet as they chased each other. Mud splattered up onto their legs and shorts, making them giggle even more.

"Jiminie, watch me, watch me!"

Jimin, who had been spinning in a circle, stopped and watched Taehyung attempt to cartwheel. He laughed as Taehyung lost his balance and landed on his back in a pile of mud. Taehyung grabbed a handful and tossed it at Jimin, giggling as it splattered onto his twin’s cheeks and neck.

"This means war!" Jimin announced, dramatically throwing himself down and tackling Taehyung into the mud.

They rolled around, trying to smash each other's faces into the mud before Jimin managed to squirm away from Taehyung's grip and stumble to his feet.

"You can run but you can't hide," Taehyung shouted, setting off after Jimin as he raced across the yard.

Long legs proved to be a blessing as Taehyung caught up with Jimin, snagging him around the waist and lifting him up to spin them both around. Jimin’s shriek of laughter mixed with Taehyung's wild giggles as Jimin's feet flew out from under him, the only thing keeping him flying away was Taehyung's tight grip around his waist.

"Taehyung! Jimin!"

The shout startled Taehyung. His feet slipped out from under him, sending him and Jimin tumbling to the ground in a tangle of limbs.

They looked up guiltily at the figure standing in the doorway with his hands on his hips.

"Yes, Mommy?" Taehyung asked innocently.

"Inside. Now," Seokjin said sternly, watching as the mud-covered boys picked themselves up and trudged inside, hand in hand.

They stopped just inside the door, dripping mud and water on to the tiles as Seokjin crossed his arms over his chest and glared down at them.

"I assume this was your idea again, Taehyung?" he asked.

"No, Mommy, he didn't do anything!" Jimin said before Taehyung could answer. "Don't be mad at Taetae, it was my fault!"

"No, it wasn’t!" Taehyung said, trying to push Jimin back. "Don't listen to him, Mommy, it was my fault."

Jimin turned and glared at his twin. "Was not!"

"Was too!" Taehyung shot back.

"Was not!"

"Was too!"

"Was not!"

"Was too!"

"Go get in the bathtub!" Seokjin's shout cut through the twin's argument, snapping their attention back to him.

"Are you mad?" Taehyung asked timidly.

"No Tae, I'm not mad," Seokjin smiled.

"Oh, well in that case it was Taehyung's idea," Jimin chirped, Taehyung nodding in agreement beside him.

"Yes, I guessed as much," Seokjin said dryly. "Now go get in the tub before that mud dries on you."

He watched as the twins ran giggling toward the bathroom, still holding hands. He turned toward the kitchen as he heard the bathroom door close.

"It's safe to come out," he said.

Namjoon stumbled out from behind the door, shaking with silent laughter. "That was fantastic," he gasped. "They looked like little mud monsters."

Seokjin began to laugh too, covering his mouth to keep the sound down. "They are mud monsters," he laughed. "Next time you get to hold back your laughter and pretend to be the bad guy to get them to come inside."

Namjoon chuckled, pulling Seokjin against his chest. "But you're so much scarier than me."

"I am not," he huffed.

"Are so," Namjoon grinned.

"Am not."

"Are so."

"Am- oh never mind," Seokjin groaned. "You're all out to get me."

"Damn right, I am," Namjoon chuckled as he bent to press a soft kiss against Seokjin's lips.

"Gross!"

"Ew!"

The exclamations of disgust were enough to break Namjoon and Seokjin apart as they looked over to see the twins leaning around the bathroom door, completely , and still covered in mud.

"It seems that our mud monsters are escaping," Namjoon said.

"It's your turn," Seokjin said, giving him a gentle shove toward the twins, grinning as Namjoon let out a fake evil laugh.

"Ahhhh, little mud monsters!" Namjoon said, doing his best impression of a mad scientist. "I shall now give you the treatment!"

Taehyung and Jimin disappeared into the bathroom with delighted shrieks at the start of one of their favorite games as Namjoon followed them, laughing evilly.

Seokjin smiled after them, listening to the muffled shrieks and giggles of his ridiculous and prefect little family.
