"Oh~ Dara-ah! Jongin-ah!" Dara and Kai turned to look at the old lady. She was their good neighbor who would check on them from time to time. Kai's father used to be friends with her before the former passed a couple of months ago.
"Annyeong, halmeoni." The two greeted in unison and bowed at her. She smiled and then turned to Dara.
"Dara-ah, a young man went here earlier."
"Young man?" Kai and Dara chorused again, they exchanged confused glances.
"Yes. He was looking for you but then you weren't home. I said that you were still in school. I asked for his name but he didn't give it to me. Instead, he gave me this to give it to you." She carefully placed the box on Dara's hand.
"Thank you, halmeoni. But do you happen to remember what he looks like?" The old lady nodded and smiled. Kai focused on the box and observed it carefully.
"Yes. He's tall, pale skin, and really handsome. He was wearing a suit. I am guessing that he's really rich. Is he someone special? He really looks sharp, Dara-ah." The old lady teased but failed to notice the surprised look on Dara's face. Her grip on the box had tightened and Kai had seen it. Then he also saw how Dara's reaction change. He rubbed her back to comfort her.
'Who could that young man be?' He asked to himself.
"No, halmeoni. He's no one." She lowered her head a bit then looked back at her. "Thank you, halmeoni."
The old lady smiled and nodded. "Ah, no problem Dara-ah. I should go now. You, kids, should call me if you need anything. Arasso?" Dara and Kai smiled.
"Thank you, halmeoni." They answered as the old lady started walking back to her house. Dara turned to Kai, fear flashed on her face.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asked as he held her shoulders.
"I don't know any guys who look like that but..."
"Do you have anyone in mind?" She nodded carefully.
"The one who has been chasing me all these years... The one I saw last time in school at the school grounds... The one who showed up in my dreams again." She whispered. Kai widened his eyes in surprise. He still doesn't understand it.
'What is he really?'
"Is he a-"
"Real person? No, he's not." Her eyes welling up with tears. Kai wrapped her with his arms.
"Let's go inside. I'll make dinner." Dara nodded.
-
He was preparing their dinner when he heard Dara let out a sudden scream. Kai quickly ran to her room and saw the box on the floor as she was standing at the end of her bed, leaning by the nearest cabinet for support. He hastily approached her and placed his hands on each of her cheeks.
"What happened?"
"The thing inside the box." Kai furrowed his eyebrows and let go of her as he reached for the box. He saw a silver bracelet inside and raised it to show to her.
