26. Once and For All
Delicately Dangerous
“You don’t know when to quit, do you?” Eunhee said, as the car drove off. She looked as Daeryong and Jia watched the car drive away but she couldn’t say anything to them. The car windows were too dark to see inside, as she could barely see outside.
“You’ve been meddling with this for too long, I need to handle this problem myself.” Soyeon said, as she casually continued to file her nails.
“You should just give up, Soyeon. You can’t force him to like you.” Eunhee replied, crossing her arms over her chest and crossing her legs. “You think you can have whatever you want because you’re rich but you can’t buy someone’s feelings.”
Soyeon glared at her and rolled her eyes, “You think he doesn’t like me? He’s always treated me different from all the other girls. Until you came along.”
The car ce and she noticed that they were in a warehouse. That was a bit cliche, but Eunhee sighed to herself. She would have to play this little game until she had a chance to deal with Soyeon.
They got out and she was tied to a chair in the middle of the room, “Gonna kill me, Soyeon?” Eunhee asked her.
Soyeon smirked, “Not me, too much work. My cousin will though.” She said, gesturing for him to come out of the shadows.
“Meet Kwanghee.” She said as he grinned at Eunhee. “He helped me find you and your powers.”
Eunhee saw the look on his face and frowned. Daeryong had forgotten an important detail that Kwanghee was Soyeon’s cousin. He had purple-tinted eyes as he grinned, “You’ll be interesting.”
He approached her and Eunhee frowned, “You really think I would let you kill me?” She said to him.
She burned through the rope and flipped the chair to hit Kwanghee in the face. He growled, jumping after her. She managed to get to the other side of the warehouse before he caught up, adrenaline pumping through her veins.
She flicked her finger at him, taking a chance to send a fireball his way. He brushed it off his shirt, but not before it burned a hole through it.
Kwanghee snarled, “That was expensive!”
Eunhee frowned, “Why would you wear an expensive shirt to do dirty work?” She asked, flicking more fireballs at him. His skin was red and burnt by the time his shirt disappeared.
Kwanghee rolled his eyes, “You’ll be nice to feed on.” He said, lunging at Eunhee. She jumped up, flying away to the other side. Eunhee mustered up the energy to send a bigger fireball, Kwanghee flailed for her but she hit him first.
She watched as all the souls flew about escaping him as he collapsed onto the ground. She turned to Soyeon who quivered on the ground, with her hands up.
“So much for not doing the dirty work.” Eunhee scoffed, she turned to the door opening and saw Daeryong and Jia coming inside.
“You guys figured out it was fake?” She said, laughing. “We’re such idiots sometimes, just because people at school found out about Elementals.”
Daeryong threw his arms around her and sighed, “We went to school in case you needed help but it was completely deserted.” He said.
“Then you remembered Kwanghee is Soyeon’s cousin?” She asked, glaring at Soyeon who was still on the ground in surrender.
“Yeah.” Jia said, picking Soyeon up, tying a zip tie around her wrists. “At least we got rid of the source of the soul ers.”
“His father is still around.” Soyeon said as they walked her out of the warehouse. “My uncle will get you guys. And my father won’t take this so easily, you’re still supposed to marry me, Daeryong!"
Eunhee rolled her eyes, “I doubt it, your arrangement is done, I can promise that.”
“And your father has been arrested, he has been trading company secrets and he was exposed by his vice president today.” Daeryong told her.
Soyeon screamed at them angrily as they put her in the back of a squad car. “You called the police?” Eunhee asked him.
“My father wanted us to.” Daeryong said, “Which leads me to the other thing, we need you to use your Charisma on the executive board to get me out of the arranged marriage.”
“Of course.” Eunhee said as she got on the back of his bike. “See you later, Jia?”
“Yup, gotta help you plan your wedding.”
~
Eunhee walked down the white aisle, the train of her dress dragging behind her. She smiled as she looked up and saw Daeryong grinning back at her. He was smiling hard enough to make his cheeks hurt.
She made it to the altar and stood in front of him smiling. The priest quieted everyone and started their vows. She had written something for him specifically that she couldn’t share at the public ceremony but she would tell him later.
They already made plans to go to their clearing tonight and head out to another small island. After they kissed, they walked back down the aisle hand in hand and Eunhee saw Jinyoung smiling at the end.
“Hey.” She said to him.
“Hey, yourself.” Jinyoung replied back, “Congratulations.” He handed her a small flower crown.
Eunhee grinned, taking off her veil and putting the flower crown on. It suited her better and she knew what it meant. “Thank you, Jinyoung.”
“Good luck.” He said, waving goodbye. Daeryong squeezed her hand tighter and frowned.
“I’ll explain later.” Eunhee said, “But as you know, I’m a Princess.” She said, gesturing at the crown.
He just nodded and Jia came running up, rounding out their group with Soryong as Daeryong’s best man.
“Let’s get going, we have forever to stand around.” Jia encouraged them, running out into the limo that would take them to the banquet hall.
Daeryong turned to Eunhee and kissed the back of her hand, “You belong with me forever.”
“Forever."
