Introduction.

Hush

The halls were noisy as usual with the chatter of over five hundred students echoing against the wooden floor and glass walls. There was a new student; something they hadn’t gotten in quite some time, and everyone was interested in seeing who it was.

The bell rang, its same monotonous droning that everyone remembered from the last time they heard it before summer started, and everyone hurried to class, not wanting to miss homeroom, in hopes that they would have the new student in their class. And in those crowded halls, they didn’t know, but she was already among them. She slid into her homeroom class and immediately saw him, sitting in the third to back row. His hair was swept to the side, a light brown, almost blonde, that reflected the light streaming in from the window, his gaze lazily drifting around the room until they landed on hers, to which she immediately looked away from. A blush rose to her cheeks as she found that the only available seat was right beside him, her steps slow and careful as she approached the now smiling boy.

“Who are you?” he questioned, leaning over in his chair and extending his hand towards her. Her blush deepened, as she wasn’t really sure how to respond to his bluntness.

“My name is Suhyun. P-Park Suhyun.” she stutters, trying to push the air out of her lungs hard enough that the sound reached his ears. His smile widened, repeating her name silently, his mouth curving around every syllable and she couldn’t help but stare.

“You can call me V.” he tells her, winking. Suhyun gulps, lowering her eyes so that they wouldn’t meet his and tries her best to form a smile before retrieving her hand and placing both of them on her lap, unable to stop fidgeting with her fingers until the teacher walks into the room, announcing her arrival and writing her name on the board. When she was called to the front, there was a boy with spiked black hair standing, waiting for her, his dimples apparent beside he ends of his smile.

“This is Namjoon, he is our class president. He’ll be showing you around the school.” the teacher states, nodding at the boy as he waves confidently at her. Suhyun smiles back, nervous from all the eyes on her as she preferred to just stay unnoticed, before scurrying back to her seat and hiding behind her textbooks.

Taehyung notices her timidness and chuckles, loud enough for everyone to notice and turn to look at her. The teacher taps on the chalkboard, gaining everyones attention before asking just what exactly he was laughing at. He looked up, cocking his head to the side as if the answer was the most obvious thing in the world,

“Because she’s cute.” he replies lamely. Suhyun’s blush further deepens, her insides feeling like they were on fire. He was surely playing with her, right?

“So Suhyun, why did you come to this side of Seoul?” Namjoon asks, looking back to make sure he hadn’t lost her in the crowd of students while they made their way to the cafeteria.

“My dad got a new job.. and the commute was just too far for him, so we just decided to move here from Busan,” she explains, her voice drowned out in the sea of voices surrounding them. Once they reached the room lined with grey tables, Namjoon led them to a farther off table with 5 other guys sitting down. He introduced them one by one; Seokjin, student council president; Hoseok, student council vice president; Yoongi, captain of the basketball team; Jimin, vice captain of the wrestling team, and finally Jungkook, the sophomore that insisted he would be better off learning everything from Namjoon, since, it was only natural to admire him according to Jungkook. She smiles shyly, hiding behind her notebook as she expresses her pleasure in meeting them.

“Let’s become good friends, okay?” Jimin said, his eyes smiling, reaching out to shake her hand. She took it gingerly, surprised by how firm his grip was and sat on the farther end of the bench, listening to their banter as they continued on as if she wasn’t even there. She smiled, listening to them argue about who was the most attractive, an argument in which Seokjin had won, and she laughed along with them when Jungkook pointed out how much shorter Jimin was in comparison to him, despite being two years younger. It wasn’t hard fitting into their little group, and in some ways it felt like she wasn’t new at all.

When they return to class, she noticed that her classmate, ‘V’ as he liked to call himself, was missing. She didn’t think too much of it, as she thought skipping was a common thing now a days, but she couldn’t help but think about him throughout the lectures that seemed to drone on for the rest of the day.

He was beautiful, she knew that for sure; she had never seen someone so vibrant, someone who just exuded this feeling of happiness and being carefree. She blushed when she began to think about his features; his plump lips, messy but still styled hair, his brown eyes that were so dark she could almost see herself in them… She wanted to get to know him, but at the same time she wasn’t really sure how.

The bell rang, pulling her out of her thoughts as Namjoon walked up to her, asking if she needed help finding anything else before he headed out. Suhyun shakes her head, telling him that she thinks she can handle herself from here before getting up and walking with him to the school entrance.

“Thank you.” she squeaks, her voice coming out a little more confident than before as she slides on her shoes, waving a quick goodbye to him before beginning her walk home. On the way, she noticed a black cat strolling nearby, carrying a dead rat inside its mouth as it spotted her before quickly dashing into the nearby bushes.

What a strange sight, to see something that seemed so docile carrying something it just killed like it was second nature. Well, it pretty much was considering it was a cat. Suhyun hummed to herself, reviewing the days events and smiled softly, biting the corner of her lip, being quite proud of herself for managing to make friends this quickly into her stay. She often had a little bit of trouble making friends, seeing as she was soft spoken and people often mistook her for being too arrogant to talk to anyone. It was interesting to be in such a new environment, and she felt refreshed seeing as this was the first place in which no one really knew who she was.  Not that that was anyone special, that is. It’s just nice to have a fresh start.

That night was quiet, something she wasn’t quite used to seeing as she used to live by the beach, the waves lulling her to sleep every night. The silence was somewhat eery, her parents already asleep in the room next door, and she found herself sitting up and looking outside, the same cat she saw earlier today sitting near the front gate of her house. It’s eyes seemed to glow in the dark, and Suhyun motioned for it to come closer, but it simply sat there, still; motionless. It started looking more like a statue the more she looked at it, seeing as it didn’t move unless you counted blinking as moving. She saw a figure somewhere nearby, it’s shadow cast by the dim street lights as she watched him pet the cat before sweeping it into his arms and running off. He was probably the owner bringing him in for the night to make sure he didn’t get into an accident.

Suhyung sighed, laying back down and staring at her ceiling, ‘V’s image coming into her mind, making her smile. She didn’t really understand what it was about him that drew her to him, but she didn’t really mind. She was glad she had someone to occupy her mind with, and found herself drifting off to sleep with the mysterious boy ghosting underneath her eyelids.

This was a good start to her new life, and she was confident it would be a great year for her to graduate.

Ahh, a new fic in the making... Hello everyone. Just some side notes; in this highschool AU, everyone is the same age (a senior) except for Jungkook, whom is still 2 years younger than Taehyung and Jimin.

I hope you all enjoy it, I've planned out the first 14 chapters, I just need to write them ;;
