RECAP: Key smiled and ate his cereal enthusiastically, feeling very happy that the members didn’t forget his birthday.

After ten more minutes have passed, Jonghyun finally awoke, looked around, and then yawned and stretched his arms. Onew and Minho followed, stretching as well. Key grinned as Taemin excused himself and said that he was going back to sleep.

Jonghyun looked at Key then whispered something to Onew, who was nodding and smiled. Minho raised one eyebrow at Onew, who nodded. Minho smiled as he cleared his throat. Key pretended to look confused, but inwards he was smiling and grinning.

“So, Key hyung, there’s something we need to tell you. We were supposed to tell you last night all about it, but then we decided that you would probably go berserk and tell the whole world. So we talked about it and thought that we should just tell you tomorrow, which we thought was even more perfect.”

Key nodded, all the while maintaining an innocent and confused expression.

“Okay, do you know Siwon hyung’s drama, ‘Oh! My Lady’? I heard that it won several awards abroad last night, so we all decided to surprise and congratulate him. We already contacted the SNSD members, as well as the other Super Junior members. They’ll be here later this afternoon to help with the decorations and other stuff...”

Key’s brain shut off at the mention of ‘Siwon hyung,’ ‘suprise,’ etc. All he could do was stare at the wall, speechless.

Key was snapped out of his thoughts by Jonghyun who was snapping his fingers in front of his face.

“Yah, Kibum, are you still with us? Did you even hear what Minho said?”

Key forced a smile.

“Y-Yeah. Sorry. Where were you, Minho?”

Minho sighed and smiled.

“As I was saying, since we all know that Siwon hyung is your most favorite member among Super Junior, we thought that if we told you all this last night, then you’d probably tell him right away. Right, hyung?”

Key forced a small laugh and stood up, his knees wobbling.

“Yeah, you’re right. I would have told him right away. Will you excuse me, I need to... lie down for a while. I feel dizzy. I think it was because of the cereal...”

Minho stood up as well, grabbing Key’s arm, steadying him. Jonghyun and Onew looked at Key with concerned expressions.

“Are you okay, Kibum?” Onew asked, worry evident in his voice.

Key chuckled half-heartedly.

“I’m okay, hyung. I-I just need to rest for a while.”

With that, Key left the kitchen and wobbled up the stairs, all the while trying not to cry. Once he went inside the spare room, which was rarely used, he crawled into the bed and stared at the ceiling.

They... They forgot about my birthday. I can’t believe I even expected anything. I can’t really blame them for trying to plan a surprise party for Siwon hyung, but... Not one of them even remembered...

Key closed his eyes. But he wasn’t able to prevent it... A teardrop slid down his cheek. After a short while, he finally fell asleep, with tears still in his eyes.
