mino/seunghoon/irene | rock, paper, scissors
let's soar {airplane au fluff drabble series}
“Okay, let’s just play rock-paper-scissors to get it over with!” Seunghoon exclaims when she and Minho are holding up the rest of the aisle with their ceaseless bickering over the window seat. Minho lets out an overjoyed yelp when he wins the three-way battle and he hurriedly scrambles next to the window, leaving Joohyun to huff and puff her way to the middle seat.
And that’s how Bae Joohyun gets stuck between her two childhood best friends on a plane to Hong Kong for their “summer adventure” (read: Joohyun tagging along to make sure they don’t make utter fools of themselves and put their lives in danger).
“Oh come on, noona,” Seunghoon pats her shoulder. “You have the smallest out of all of us so it’s better you in the middle than me or Minho.”
Joohyun rolls her eyes. Whatever.
Sometimes she wonders how she ever became friends with them and why she puts up with their immaturity. It’s funny because from the distance, she supposes they look quite appealing as people – after all, they don’t receive seemingly endless chocolates every Valentine’s Day for nothing. But the girls crushing on them would sure be in for a surprise if they were to look closer and find that Minho and Seunghoon name their suitcases like they are actual living things and that their suitcases are best friends just like them. It’s kind of cute, but not when they go overboard with their messing around like they usually do.
Joohyun guesses she’ll just nap the whole plane ride through or else she might get a headache (and not from airplane sickness). She’s about to close her eyes when – poke.
She doesn’t flinch.
Poke, poke.
“Yes?” she mumbles, not even turning in Minho’s direction.
“Don’t sleep yet! We still need to record a video of this iconic moment for our travel blog!” Minho says, whipping out his phone. “Seunghoon, Joohyun, you ready? Freestyle rap time!” And he immediately breaks out into beat-boxing.
“Yeah! Hey, ho!” Seunghoon starts, and Joohyun has given up on caring about what the other passengers might think. “We’re on a plane to Hong Kong!”
“Hong Kong!” Minho echoes. “Chilling in my window seat, Hoonie in the aisle seat, Joohyunnie in the middle, woohoo!”
“Like the peanut butter and jelly in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!” Seunghoon adds. And she smiles then because she is quite fond of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
The song ends with an excessively long bout of I say hey, you say ho! Hey! Ho! Hey! Ho! as per usual, and that’s the fourth entry on their summer travel blog – the first being the boys painstakingly packing their suitcases Bumblebee and Trooper, the second being the rambunctious car ride to the airport, and the third being “the airport gate boredom rap” ft. Joohyun’s singing and an impromptu catwalk showcasing their airport fashion. They’re going to have a lot of entries on this blog of theirs at this rate.
After a bit though, things calm down a little with Minho jamming out to hip hop music and Seunghoon undoubtedly mapping out choreography sequences in his head. Joohyun decides that she kind of likes this – being with them – because hey, at least every day is a new adventure, and (as Seunghoon quietly leans her head on his shoulder when she yawns) maybe it’s not so bad after all.
author's note: 3 more drabbles on the way! hope you like what you see so far :)
