REGRETS LEAD TO HEARTACHES

I shouldn't have lied to my heart
And ran away from what I feel
I could have made us start
But this cowardice didn't make us real

I should have touched you
And then I would have felt your warmth
Before your body turned blue
I should have taken you in my arms.

I should have told you that I love you
If I did, would you rather not go?
Will you smile at me like you used to?
Will I still see your glow?

And tonight I was hunted
By all the ifs and doubts that should have been ahead
If only I didn't turn back and leave,
this regret wouldn't have turned into a heartache.
