Out Loud.SHIN-HYE PRACTICALLY DRAGGED MIN HO TO THE DRESSING ROOMS. And he expected nothing less, so he let himself be dragged past the staff and her manager, and her coordi. No one said a thing, and not one of them looked surprised at all. They merely went about their business and got out of their way.
She pulled him into her dressing room and slammed the door behind her. After locking it she pointed at him.
“YOU. EXPLAIN. NOW.”
Min Ho raised his arms in mock surrender. “Okay, okay,” he said.
And he did. He explained how he came to the idea while he was still in the military. He needed something to keep him sane during the last stretch of service and someone suggested that he learn something.
“Wait, stop.” Shin Hye interjected, holding up a hand and Min Ho paused. “You took dance lessons... in the military?”
“Ah, not exactly. It started out as just goofing off during downtime really. Then it became more serious as it went on. I was lucky because some guys in my regiment were dancers and choreographers. When we weren’t training, we were dancing. Small breaks were spent on learning steps. Didn’t you ever wonder how I quit smoking?”
“You quit? But what about all those times you had to leave the room when we were together?” Then it dawned on her. “Oh so you were taking phone calls or texting instead?”
“Yes but it--” he didn’t get to finish as her question rang out.
“Who is she?”
Min Ho was dumbstruck. So she found out. “Wait, Shin Hye it’s not what you think...”
“That’s what they all say!” she said as angry tears filled up her eyes. She tried to find something to do so he wouldn’t see her cry so she started to gather her things.
He rushed to her, trying to still her hands with his own. She shook off his hands, muttering “Don’t touch me!”
“Shin-Hye...” he said again, this time grabbing her upper arms until she stopped struggling. She still couldn’t look at him.
Min Ho gently cupped her chin to lift her face. His heart hurt to see her defiant expression and the tears that streaked down her face.
“She’s a choreographer,” he whispered.
Her eyes widened and she pushed him away with all her might. He stumbled back as she yelled.
“YOU’RE HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH A CHOREOGRAPHER?!”
“Stop freaking out for one moment and think, Shin Hye! How do you figure I was able to dance with you tonight?
Her mind was racing. He had a point. He knew the steps--every lift, every turn, every dip.
“She was my dance partner since I came back. You told me about this routine around Christmas, remember?” When she didn’t reply he continued. “I gave Manager Jun and Jae-Hee Hyung a headache trying to find the right choreographer for this. It was my buddy in the military who suggested her. She was the one I was texting and calling because we always had to change schedules.”
The fatigue was finally sinking in and Shin Hye sank into the nearby couch. She still had a million questions.
“How’d you get your hands on our routine?”
“She’s your choreographer’s protege. He’s been feeding her the information all this time.”
Shin Hye snapped back to attention at hi
