“Okay, class. Let’s begin!” The teacher announced as she clapped her hands after the sheets were passed on.

Everyone looked at the sheet of paper and groaned except for one person. Jieun smiled at the questions given on the sheet of paper and could immediately answer them in her head. Bomi bit her lower lip and fiddled with her fingers. If only she didn’t gawk over L.Joe when it was English class then she could understand the questions.

“Yah,” Bomi called out for Jieun and cleared before continuing, “w-what does it mean?” She frowned and Jieun gave her an awkward smile.

Jieun was finally about to say something to Bomi when someone snatched the paper away. Jieun looked up at that person with her jaws dropped.

“Hey! I was reading that.” She shouted but that person just rolled his eyes at her.

“L.Joe, give it back.” Bomi ordered sternly.

L.Joe smirked looking at the papers. He looked at Jieun who was frowning then he moved to the next table.

“We don’t need these things; we’re just here to learn about music.” He said as he took the other’s paper too. Once he was done snatching everyone’s paper, he opened the window and threw everything out.

Jieun gasped and gave him a look. “You’re so rude.” She said out loud.

L.Joe stopped what he was doing and turned to look at her. He raised an eyebrow and let out a small laugh as if he was mocking her. He slowly made his way towards her and stopped when he was just a few inches away. Although he acted like a bad boy, he couldn’t help but feel nervous when he was in front of Jieun. Her scent was lingering everywhere and it made it harder for him to breathe.

“Like I said,” he paused and took a deep breath, her scent entering his nose, and tried to keep cool, “we don’t need those things.”

“That’s what you think -” she stopped and hesitated for a while, “- L.Joe. But we still need to learn English in our lives.”

L.Joe’s heart skipped a beat when she said his name. It was the first time she said his name and kind of liked it. At least she knew his name, right? He tried not to show his happiness and refrained from smiling like an idiot in front of Jieun. But he did give her a bad boy smile and his lips.

“Why? So you could brag about your skills in English?” L.Joe shot back.

“I thought you knew English too, L.Joe?” Bomi asked.

For a second there, he panicked. He forgot that Bomi knows about him going to California for three years. Before anything else could go wrong, the bell rang.

“Oh, great! You’ve wasted another class of mine, L.Joe. Congrats to you.” The teacher said sarcastically before she left the class.

Jieun was still a few inches away from L.Joe and all eyes were on them. The other students which were passing by looked at them in curiosity. They were all wondering what she did and what he’ll do to her. It was now recess but nobody seems to be heading towards the cafeteria for lunch.

Bomi didn’t like seeing them so closely so she tried to get L.Joe’s attention by pulling his arm. Taemin came in the classroom with a smile on his face as he called out Jieun’s name. He wanted to invite her to eat with him as usual.

But his smile faded when he saw her standing in front of L.Joe, so closely. He slightly pouted and glared at L.Joe even though his back was facing him. Taemin then walked up to them and looked at L.Joe from head to toe.

“What did you do to her?” Taemin asked him but L.Joe just raised an eyebrow.

“What makes you think I did something?” L.Joe asked back through gritted teeth.

“Because you always cause trouble wherever you go.”

“Mwoh?” L.Joe let out a mocking laugh.

Minsoo and Chanhee, who were watching the scene too, decided to step in to break up the intense atmosphere. Minsoo stepped in between L.Joe and Taemin, slightly pushing them back.

“Enough,” Minsoo said firmly, “It’s recess time and I’m starving. You won’t like it when I’m starving and angry at the same time.”

L.Joe rolled his eyes at him but remained silent. Taemin’s gaze never left L.Joe as he took Jieun’s hand and headed for the cafeteria. L.Joe looked at the both of them with a frown and noticed that they were holding hands.

“Okay guys, there’s nothing to see here. Let’s go to eat~” Chanhee said cheerfully, showing his pearly whites, causing girls to swoon over him.

Everyone started to make their way to the cafeteria and get their food. L.Joe and his friends sat at their usual place with Bomi and her cliques. Jieun was with Taemin, sitting at their usual place – in front of L.Joe’s table – and happily eating their lunch.

School has ended but Jieun was still at school. She was in the vocal room like she was any other night. She was sitting in front of the piano and she slowly played it, singing to whatever was on her mind. She was so absorbed in her singing that she didn’t realize someone was observing her.

It was Taemin again but this time he knows who it is. Jieun forgot to lock the door so he had the chance to see her sing. He remained quiet at his spot, afraid it might blow his cover. He couldn’t help but smile when he heard her sing. It was like she’s meant to sing.

He did wonder why she didn’t want to sing that day and he could already imagine the expression on everyone’s face once they hear her sing. He thought of a way to make her sing but he’s afraid she might think of him as the others.

The next day, L.Joe woke up extremely early which was unlikely of him. His other friends still hasn’t woken up yet so he decided to make breakfast for everyone. He has been cooking for himself ever since he went to California because he lived alone with his sister.

He took out everything that he needed and started to cook. The sweet smell of omelet and pancakes flew around the house, causing everyone to wake up. Minsoo woke up first and wondered who it was that was cooking.

He got up from his bed and quietly went downstairs. He had a small heart attack when he saw L.Joe in the kitchen, cooking, wearing a cute apron with a smile on his face.

“Dude, you alright?” He asked as he smirked.

L.Joe slightly jumped as he wasn’t aware of Minsoo’s existence. “Yeah, why do you ask?”

“No reason, just that you’re not yourself lately. You’re cooking. That’s a first.”

“Oh shut up hyung and go wash up. I’m almost done.” L.Joe smirked as he shooed the older boy.

“Neh, eomma.” Minsoo emphasized on the ‘eomma’.

After Minsoo was done washing up, he woke up the others. He got ready and headed downstairs where a table of yummy breakfast awaits him. He rubbed his hands together and sat down. He started to dig in but L.Joe stopped him by slapping his hand with the spatula.

“Wait for the others.” L.Joe said.

“But I’m hungry.” Minsoo pouted.

“Ew, hyung. Stop that, aegyo doesn’t suit you.”

Before he could say anything else, everyone came down. When they did, they eyed the food and L.Joe weirdly. Ricky and Changjo, the youngest ones among the rest, started to giggle at what L.Joe was wearing.

“Hyung, you look very manly.” Ricky retorted, still giggling. L.Joe gave him a death glare which stopped him.

“You didn’t put anything poisonous, did you?” Chanhee asked, eyeing the food carefully.

“Fine, don’t eat! Just throw all these in the dustbin.” L.Joe snapped and everyone laughed at him.

“Okay, enough. Let’s eat~” Minsoo said and ate like there was no tomorrow. The others joined him and so did L.Joe. It was quiet cheerful at the table unlike the usual morning where they would just sleepily go out from the house.

L.Joe and his friends were walking towards their own classes and it was Vocal class for L.Joe and Chanhee. As soon as they stepping in the classroom, every girl looked at them and squealed.

“Oh my god, L.Joe oppa looks sooo hot in that jacket!” One said.

“I know but Chanhee looks better!” Another said.

And the squeals go on and on.

L.Joe rolled his eyes at each of them and sighed when he sat down. Chanhee, who was giving all the girls a killer smile, was enjoying the moment. Then everything was silent when Jieun walked in with Taemin.

L.Joe, unknowingly, gave her a mocking smile when she looked at him. Jieun quickly sat next to Taemin and avoided his eyes. But she could still feel him staring at her and it was worse because they were sitting in front of him.

“You’re going to sing today, right?” he asked as he leaned closer.

“That’s right! Jieun’s singing today.” Bomi, who heard L.Joe clapped her hands and nodded.

But Jieun didn’t say anything and just looked at her book. Taemin noticed her nervousness and squeezed her hand lightly. L.Joe watched them and scoffed. He decided to ignore the two lovebirds and listen to his music.

“Okay, today we shall practice our vocals.” The teacher announced.

“But we should let Jieun go first.” Naeun exclaimed with a smirk while looking at her friends.

Jieun quickly raised her head to the teacher with her eyes opened wide. She could feel her heartbeat beating fast at the skin of her chest.   

 “Very well then. Jieun, if you may?” The teacher gestured her to go to the front of the class.

Jieun gulped and felt queasy. She wanted to say ‘no’ but nothing was coming out from . She turned to look at Taemin and he gave her a reassuring smile. He pumped his fists up in the air and cheered her on.

She slowly got up from her seat and walked to the front of the class. L.Joe, who was still listening to his music, turned his attention on Jieun. He took off his earplugs and sat up properly, with his elbow on the table and hands on his chin. Jieun was standing in front of everyone with her head hung low.

“How are you going to sing like that?” The teacher asked, her arms crossed across her chest.

“Yah, hurry up! You’re wasting time again, like you did last time!” a student in the class criticized her.

Jieun looked up and took a deep breathe. She knew that she’ll be a coward to give up. And so, she then cleared and started singing. No one said anything and all was quiet. The songs of birds chirping made her song sweeter. The student, who criticized her a few minutes ago, had opened as soon as Jieun started to sing.

L.Joe’s heart softened as he listened to her voice carefully. He could feel himself smiling. He was falling in love with her, he knew it.

Taemin was watching her with a smile and he was falling even more for her. Bomi’s face was red as she was wearing red blushers and bit her lower lip in anger. She had a feeling that everyone is going to love her now, especially when she saw L.Joe smiling.

Everyone seems to be surprised and mesmerized by Jieun’s voice. Some of the students passing by stopped to listen to her voice and in the crowd where some of the SNSD sunbaes. They gasped when they heard Jieun’s soothing voice.
