Junhong loved the arcade, and for obvious reasons. He usually went at night when his busy schedules were over to let his stress drown in the blaring music and sound effects pouring in from all directions.

It was there that he met Moon Jongup, the quiet stranger with dark brown hair, narrow eyes that form crescents on a face with a sharp jawline and a shy crooked smile.

Junhong didn’t believe in love at first sight. But something stirred in his stomach and his heart mimicked his skateboard tricks. He’d never found someone this attractive—even though he was surrounded by attractive people left and right—and it was terrifying.

That was why he never managed to approach this quiet stranger despite his tendency to easily get on along with other frequent visitors. It was only two weeks into stolen gazes and curious stares at this stranger that Junhong got noticed.

And not in a pretty way. He’d been watching the guy play a combat game while pretending to smash a board with a plastic hammer nearby. When an overdramatic declaration of Jongup’s victory boomed through the machine’s sound box, Junhong found himself screeching YES a little too loud.

Loud enough for Jongup to notice him anyway. He turned to Junhong, who stood there flustered and was desperately trying to hide his embarrassment, with a puzzled look. Their eyes met. Junhong had been praying for this moment for two weeks now but dammit not this way.

But then Jongup laughed. It was the first time Jongup heard his voice. His laugh was somewhere between a chuckle and a giggle with shy undertones and it danced its way past the tension that was between them just a moment ago. Junhong subconsciously joined in the laughter and that was how it started; the beginning of whatever they could be.

When they stop laughing a smile still hung onto Jongup’s lips and Junhong almost missed the timid ‘Hi.’

“Hey,” Junhong replied, almost breathless.

It turned out that Jongup had seen Junhong before, in the pubs and cafés where Junhong often performed street jazz for some pocket money. Thanks to the dancing machine at the arcade Junhong learned that Jongup was a dancer too—though he would have guessed from the latter’s muscular body and fluid movements.

They considerably got closer in the following weeks; both of them usually went to the arcade alone and having someone to talk to (other than rowdy teens who were always there) was quite a pleasant change, especially since both their lives revolved around music and dance. Conversation flowed easily and they even exchanged numbers.

Their growing intimacy did not prevent Junhong from blushing like a teenage girl when Jongup actually showed up at one of Junhong’s performances at a cozy café on a Thursday evening (which he had very casually brought up). Their eyes met during the bridge of the song. Needless to say, Junhong awkwardly waddled towards Jongup as soon as the song was over, not even waiting for the audience to stop applauding like he usually did with a proud grin.
