underground

hoping to find

the sun,

when really we are nearing

closer and closer

the blistering core

of the earth.

If we keep it up,

our endings will see us

crushed by rubble

after the unsupported walls

collapse

or 

we may become engulfed

by the fiery magma

we let ourselves believe was

the light.
