I whisper to the dark

in the hours lost 

to a waking heart?

Within me there are realms 

of dreams and nightmares

calling me to walk their paths.

the seconds slip

and I tumble backwards

and the world is upside down

and suddenly I am alone.

But there is a place that I'd like you to see

where our footsteps cannot travel

but a somewhere someday

both our hearts could unravel.

There are winding roads

and all the twists and turns

but they are conspiring with the dark

to hide a star that burns.

And up there I have set myself on fire,

I remembered how to glow.

I can see the world from there
