Kyungsoo sighs blissfully as he grabs his phone on the nightstand and slides it open. He takes a look at the time before leaning his back against the headboard.

7:30 am. It is still early he might say if it is just any other days, however, today is different! It is a day after he was confessed, and to top it all, by the very person he thought he could only dreamed of before.

Jongin. His Jongin.

He couldn’t even get to keep his eyes shut for a sleep last night due to that. He was scared. What if all of this were merely a dream? What if he wakes up to a reality that he was never being with Jongin nor Jongin’s? Oh… please no! 7 years of waiting are enough.

Kyungsoo traces his fingers on his forehead dreamily. There… his first ever kiss from the older to him. Although he is pretty sure that his lips expected more to come after that, he prefers the kiss to be that way. After all, isn’t a kiss on the forehead much sweeter than a thousand kisses on the lips? It means as a form of respect, adoration, protectiveness, love and a promise to always be there forever.

Forever.

He smiles to just think of that. Imagine he and Jongin live in a small and cosy house, with a big lawn for Monggu, Jjanggu and Jjangah to run and play around as they like. And maybe after a few years, their own kid, one that resembles him and Jongin, would join the poodles as well. Aww. He certainly won’t change that kind of life with anything in the world.

He pushes the gallery button in his phone, goes to the picture section and is greeted by a selca of him and Jongin at once. He couldn’t help but giggles at the zero space between them in the photo. God knows how serious he was shaking at that time. No fear, but feelssss that he thought he could finally understand what is it to be a fangirl for an idol group.

And to think that they were like a stranger before, both of them even stayed at the park afterwards, snuggled into each other’s warmth while catching up with their respective life in those 7 years. He talked about his mom and London mostly whereas the older told him on his work and his family a little.

Kyungsoo startles with the sudden knocks coming from outside his room. He frowns as he glances at his phone. It is just 8:00 am. ‘Who would wake up and be at his door this early?’ He pondered before getting up out of the bed.

Room service? Nah, he didn’t ask for one.

Jongin?

At the thought of the male, Kyungsoo quickens his walk to the door. Who knows if it is really Jongin and some foods that he might has prepared earlier so that they could have a breakfast together?

Kyungsoo always wanted to do that with his boyfriend though…

Kyungsoo pauses in front of the door to straighten his pajama and fixes his messy hair. He takes in a deep breath, lets it out in one go and grabs the door knob.

“Jongin!”, he exclaims as he swings the door open

…only to see someone else there.

“Wow I am surprised that you would know it was me”

Taken back by the unexpected turn out, Kyungsoo just stand still, even when the person before him waves at him, as well as asking him whether he is okay or not.

Of course, he is not. Kyungsoo curses himself inwardly that he forgot his fiancé is coming today. But now that the latter is here, he has no idea on what to do.

“I-I am fine. I am just… urm I thought you said you will arrive at noon”, Kyungsoo smiles faintly as he gestures Jongin to come in. He couldn’t help but to flinch at how he is no different than a cheating partner at the moment.

“I lied. I took the earliest flight this morning”, Jongin replies as he hands out a towel to Kyungsoo, earning a confuse look on the younger’s face. “Take a shower. I have a surprise for you downstairs”

“What is it?”, Kyungsoo questions as his little frame is pushed rather gently by the older to the bathroom.

Jongin smiles, somewhat reminding him of the other Jongin, his Jongin, which makes him stuns for a while at the resemblance.

“Later, hurm?”

“Mom? Baekhyun hyung?”, Kyungsoo gasps to see his mother and his brother at one of a table in the hotel’s café as soon as he and Jongin enter the place. He turns to the older for an explanation, but the latter shrugs smugly and walks to his family.

‘So this is his surprise’, Kyungsoo thinks as he follows the older, all smiles.

As they approach the table, it is just then Kyungsoo realizes that there is another woman, who seems to be in his mother’s age, sits at the same table. He hastily grabs Jongin’s sleeve when the said woman meets eyes with his. Oh no don’t tell him that she is—

“Morning, mama”

Kyungsoo is left speechless once again as he sees Jongin kisses the woman’s cheek, and then bows politely towards his mother before doing a high five with Baekhyun. Since when did all of this start? He feels so out of the place suddenly...

“Soo honey, what are you doing? Greet your in-law here”

Kyungsoo turns to his mom to see her nodding to the woman’s direction, notes that his brother is enjoying his uneasiness… that nerves, and awkwardly bows to the supposed in-law of his afterward. “N-nice to me you, eomeonim. I-I am Do Kyungsoo”

“Omo Hyojin-ah. Your son hasn’t changed at all!”, the woman steps up to him and warmly takes his hands into hers. “He is still as cute as the last time I saw him… urm when was it? Ah yeah… when you brought him to our reunion. He was 3 at that time, right?”

“Yes! yes! And Jongin was 10”, his mom answers heartily, making Kyungsoo to shift his attention to the older next to him. So they met before?

Jongin seems to realize this and smiles to the younger as they stare at each other, not before he pulls the chair for him like the gentleman he is.

“Ah… I can’t believe that our kids are going to get married soon. Who would even think that we will become in-law back then?”

“I know right? My baby Soo really disliked the idea before and now look! He and your son themselves wanted to hold their engagement during your company’s annual dinner tonight… wow you two sure aren’t that patient, huh?”

Kyungsoo gapes at his mom as the words just now ring in his head, bugging him to no end. Engagement? Tonight?

“Mom… w-what are you talking?”, he asks, still in bewilderment.

“Yah, why do you look so shock, Kyung? You were the one who asked Jongin to fasten you guys’ engagement date and you even wanted it to happen before you fly back to London”, Baekhyun replies and Kyungsoo pays no mind to everything the older says after that—something about he would miss his lunch date with Chanyeol and Jongdae couldn’t get tag along because he has important test today—as he snaps his head to Jongin, who is surprisingly calm in the midst of this, and glares him hard.

“I have never—“

“Mrs. Gong, can I borrow Kyungsoo for a while?”, Jongin cuts him off and Kyungsoo has an urge to scream at his mom for allowing the older then.

Kyungsoo refuses to get up from his seat, not when Jongin tightens his grip on his wrist later on.

“Get. Up”, the older mutters in a slow but firm voice that Kyungsoo glances at everyone there in case they heard him. Apparently not, since they are all busy to chat with each other at this very moment.

Kyungsoo yanks his hand from Jongin’s and stomps out of the café sourly. If only he turns around, he could see his mother, Baekhyun and his in-law give a thumb up to Jongin, as the four of them laugh at his small rebel just now.

“Aigoo why is Kyungsoo so cute?”

“He is my son, Yiseul. That is why”, Hyojin says, earning a playful scoff from her long-time friend, before the latter turns to her nephew in front of him. “It is the last part, right, Taemin-ah?”
