Heaving a deep sigh for the fifth time today doojoon rolled his head to the side as he silently observed the scene outside the window; strangers weaving through each other hurriedly as the orchestra of bustling feet and car engines roam up into the air. His Long fingers were curled around his mug while the aroma of caffeine lingered up into his nose.

Doojoon noticed that spring was finally starting to settle down as the days gradually grew warmer whilst the sun stayed up longer till the late evenings; he needed to remind himself to replace his old rusty fan. “Hyung! Are you even listening to me?”

Doojoon groaned directing his eyes towards his companion sitting across him, he leaned back into his seat whilst the others eyebrows wrinkled in distress.

“Yes I am listening kikwang.”

“So you’ll accept my favour right?” He hoped as he effortlessly showed off the oh-so-famous eye smile.

“Can’t you get someone else to do it, like I don’t know dongwoon?”

“Hyung you know that he’s been busy lately with the hospital and all plus as much as I want to do it I can’t since my apartment is too cramped.”

His shoulders slumped as he knew the only way he would get out of the situation was to simply give in, it’s not like doojoon was against animals. Hell, he loves them.

Well specifically dogs that is but cats, that’s a whole another story.

“You said you owe me one.” Kikwang muttered under his breath as he brought his drink up to his lips.

“Really? And exactly when did I say ‘I owe you one’?”

“Who saved you from going on another blind date set up by your mum again?”

Doojoon rolled his eyes; he knew that the younger would bring that up and use it to his advantage at some point. Briefly checking his watch it was only ten minutes past two and his drama that he was watching recently wasn’t gonna air until around four and yes yoon doojoon is secretly a er for cliché dramas.

Doojoon laughed at the response soon the both of them continued talking for a while discussing among other things that have been happening lately. After ten minutes they decided to leave the café before it became over flooded with more people. Walking down the street the duo headed towards doojoon’s car that was parked a bit further down.

Kikwang was informing the elder of the basics and important stuff he needed to know all the while doojoon was refraining himself from rolling his eyes for the god knows how many times today and adding witty remarks in between, kikwang was still blabbering on even while doojoon was driving them towards the pets adoption centre where the ‘adorable felines’ were waiting for him.

The journey didn’t take them that long as they had finally reached their destination, the moment they walked into the building they were instantly welcomed by the warm atmosphere, beige coloured walls decorated with posters notifying a variety of general information, there wasn’t many people inside as he thought it would be, as doojoon thought it must’ve been a slow day.

Different mixtures of voices filled the air from down the long corridor. Doojoon couldn’t help but be amazed yet upset on how all these pets were up for adoption he sincerely hoped that they would all find deserving homes as soon as possible.

“Ah, wait here for a bit hyung.”

Kikwang scurried off to the counter seeing that he was speaking with one of the workers. Doojoon took his time and surveyed his surroundings while waiting for kikwang. Laughter was heard coming his way, looking over his shoulder he found the laughter was coming from a young child no older than ten.

The kid was practically beaming in happiness while he was hand was clutched with his pet, the both of them were cheerfully chatting about all the stuff that they were gonna do together. The kids’ parents were also hand in hand watching the two little ones with bright smiles in front of them as they exited the building.

A smile grew on his face at the scene; he continued watching them until they were no longer seen anymore.

However doojoon couldn’t help but think; will he ever be that happy with someone one day?

Before he could drown himself in his thoughts kikwang was back with the worker he was talking to before, he couldn’t deny that he was handsome. His red wine hair was one of the features that stood out the most along with the feline like eyes, he wore a teal apron that stopped a few inches above his knee and had a small name tag seen perched on the left side of his chest.

“Hyung, this is yukwon he’s my neighbour and he also works here.”

Doojoon bowed his head greeting yukwon,”It’s nice to meet you yukwon-ah.”

Yukwon mirrored doojoon, “same to you doojoon hyung, kikwang hyung told me that you wanted to adopt the pair of cats that he put up”.

“Ye-yeah.” He admitted rubbing the back of his neck

“Please follow me and I’ll show you them.”

Yukwon lead the both of them down the long corridor. Each room had large two way mirrors that showed the pets inside, majority of them were mainly in groups of two or four along with a plate beneath the mirror that had information about the pets inside.

After passing about six rooms they came to a stop.

“there they are!” kikwang stated happily his face close to the mirror, aside from kikwang blocking part of his view he could see that the room was fairly large. A large bunk bed could be seen peaking from the right side of the room however doojoon couldn’t help but notice the top bunk was almost filled with Pikachu plushies in comparison to the bottom bunk that had a variety of stuffed toys, the walls were spilled with colourful and drawings and a mixture of paintings that brightened up the room inside.

In the centre of the room was a low round table filled with books, crayons, and more scribbled drawings that were threatening to tip off the edge.
What really caught doojoon’s attention were the two small cat boys that had their backs away from his view. One of them was hunched over fully concentrating on what seems to be a drawing of his while the one next to him was leaning against his shoulder seemingly to be focused on what the other was doing.

“Would you like to meet them?”

“Of course!” kikwang happily exclaimed. Without a moment to spare yukwon unlocked the door stepping into the room first, “you guys have special visitors today.”

The two boys exchanged confused looks not expecting anyone to visit them, yukwon stepped aside letting kikwang in as he greeted them with a grin and open arms. “Surprise!”

“Kiki hyung you’re here!”

In a dash kikwang was enveloped in a hug by the two boys, the three of them were all bundled up together leaving doojoon awkwardly standing behind not knowing what do. After their little reunion kikwang was pulled along by the two little ones towards the round table, behind doojoon a co-worker called out for Yukwon’s assistance to which he excused himself notifying that he’ll be back soon.

“Kiki hyung why haven’t you visited us lately?”

“Did you bring us anything?”

Kikwang grinned before ruffling both of their heads, “yes I brought a close friend of mine with me today.” He got up to where doojoon was still standing and dragged him down to sit next to him in front of the two curious eyes.

“Doojoon hyung here is going to adopt you two!”

The room fell silent as the tension in the air grew thick with kikwang being completely oblivious to the atmosphere doojoon could feels his palms become sweaty the longer the two boys stared at him until the boy with a pair of bright eyes spoke up.

“Your eyebrows are really nice.”

“um thanks.” Doojoon awkwardly smiled at the boy for the random compliment who returned the smile back looking next to other he was startled to find slanted eyes glaring right at him. Kikwang clapped his hands exclaiming that the three of them would get along fine before he urged the three of them to gather together so he could take a picture of the new `happy family’.

After kikwang had taken the photo on his phone doojoon was pestered with multiple questions coming from hyunseung which he learned in a short span of five minutes that the boy was very curious and chipper whilst the boy next to hyunseung was junhyung. Junhyung’s stare was constantly piercing into his soul, if he didn’t know better doojoon was sure that if he made a wrong move the boy would probably murder him in his sleep. Despite the intimidating stare junhyung was quiet and kept to himself unlike hyunseung he only asked general questions like his age, job, and what not.

Doojoon had a feeling that his next three weeks were going to change, completely.
