Leaving & Moving

Dealing with Seven

A gentle turn on the knob, Minhee entered the new home she will be living in for God knows how long. Upon entering, the girl wandered around the house and wondered if anyone was home as the place was silent-- Are they sleeping? she thought.

“Hello? Anyone home?” she called out. No answer. Minhee shrugged as she continued to wander off the house.

At the living room the girl spotted a few picture frames displayed, she noticed her father in a few of them. As if it has a mind of its own, her hand reached out to get a look at one of photos-- it was a group picture of the seven boys and her father. A smile crept up her face upon seeing her father smiling happily as his body was covered in sand while the boys were around him smiling for the camera.

Minhee’s smile faltered as envy took over her entirety-- she never got to spend time with her father like that. She envied the boys for being able to do so. The girl shook her head at the dark thoughts that started to crept up her mind, she wanted to smash the frame. Her hands were shaking at the thought. Stop Minhee. She carefully lowered her hands to place the frame back, she thought it was probably precious to the boys as it was displayed in the family room. They must’ve think of my father as family huh?

The girl started walking again, familiarizing herself to the house. As she began to walk through the hallway she spotted a particular room-- it was extremely untidy. She examined the room further as she made a face, ‘Is this even a room? It seems more like a jungle’ she grumbled to herself. It was no surprise for boys to be disorganize but she did not expect it to be this disorganized; the clothes were scattered on the floor, the beds were unmade and the whole room stank, making her nose scrunched. Having enough of the unkempt room Minhee hurried off to look for her father’s room.

It didn’t take her long to find it. It was no rocket science to figure out which one her father used to stay in. Of course it was the neat and clean one, the total opposite of the boys’ room.

She scanned the room and couldn’t help but to feel familiar at the vibe of the room-- it reminded her so much of her bedroom back home; small and simple, just like how she likes it. Minhee smiled to herself before she started to unpack her stuff, she reached out to her luggage obtaining a few polaroid photos she took with her best friend right before she left.

Upon looking at it, she reminisced the moment once again in her head;

“Wah!!! You’re leaving already?!” Minhee’s bestfriend, Sora whined as she pouted at Minhee.

“Ah ne, Dad said the boys are doing a comeback soon so I'll have to begin working.”

“This ! We didn’t get to do anything before you leave! Now you’re gonna forget about me”

“Yah! Park Sora! How would I forget about you?! You're like a sister to me~”

Minhee scolded, reassuring her ever so dramatic friend.

“You’ll never know! You’re going to be busy with those boys soon and before you know it you’ve forgotten me” Sora frowned, not wanting to see her friend depart so soon. How would school be like now that her only friend will be gone? A little flash interrupted her thoughts, she looked over to Min hee. That little! she was taking selcas with her polaroid camera!

“Yah! You’re taking selcas without telling me! Aish Jung Minhee!!”

“What? I just want to take a few photos with my best friend is that too much to ask for?”

Sora shook her head before laughing at her silly bestfriend, she began to pose as Minhee held the camera backwards to capture themselves with the lens. Though after a few flashes, slashed on Sora’s face, she couldn’t bare another blinding light so she pulled away giggling.

Minhee joined her best friend in her fits as she went through the photos, Sora had pulled some ‘amusing’ faces.

Looking back at the photos now, Minhee couldn’t help but smile. The photos showed her inseparable friendship she have with her best friend.

“See, now I have something to remember you with” Minhee said as she held the printed photos for Sora to see. Sora smiled as she swept through the photo, each one was different but each have the both of them in. The girl felt slightly delighted, now that Minhee has something to remember her to. As both girls were happily looking through the photos a taxi appeared and pulled over…

That was the cue for Minhee to depart. Sora quickly wrapped her arms around her bestfriend bidding goodbye to her. The taxi driver opened the door for Minhee as she entered the car putting her luggage beside her. Sora began to wave at her as the taxi drove to its destination.

Minhee’s recollection was disturbed when she heard the front door closed, she looked up and heard boys groaning out of exhaustion and some clutter being made in the kitchen. The girl swiftly stood up as she exhaled a huff of air. This was it! Time to introduce herself to the boys who she will soon be living with.
