Poor Little Fool
FloodedLuhan had spent the duration of the flight pulling his hair out, almost literally. He’d run his fingers into it then slowly tug on the strands, not even noticing how wild he’d made it. 6 hours was a long time to contemplate the biggest decision in his life so far. One he hadn’t even had any say in.
He breathed a deep sigh past his slightly parted lips. One hand still balled in his hair he peeked up at the people milling around him. Not seeing any one there to retrieve him, he pulled his hand out of the rats nest his hair had become and thumped his head against the wall.
He hadn't slept. Closing his eyes he could hear all the happy families on their snowbird vacations scuttling about the airport. A small frown pulled at the corners of his lips as he remembered why he was there and why he most definitely wasn’t enjoying himself like the rest of the population seemed to be.
Only yesterday he had spent Christmas with his family, without a care in the world. He’d graduated with his degree in Korean Language earlier that year and had spent some time back home, not really trying overly hard at finding a job, just enjoying himself after spending so much time away.
His parents weren’t the type of people to complain about their grown son living at home and not doing anything with his life. They were the type of parents to get him a one way ticket to Singapore for his Christmas present, for the very next day.
He’d been so foolishly excited about the ticket. Taking a moment and reading just two words had brought his world crashing down around him.
So here he was, shipped off to a place he had never been, to live and work with relatives he’d only met once or twice or not at all.
There was a shout off to the side, slanting his eyes open and lolled his head over he caught sight of a sign with his name printed across it. A sigh escaped his lips as he bent himself down to gather his bags and the layers he’d shed while waiting. It was hot, even inside the air-conditioned building. The winter coat he’d needed to get to the airport in Beijing was completely useless here, his hoodie had been stuffed in his bag soon after. As he followed to driver, who professionally ignored the state of Luhans hair, out the doors he eyed his black tank top as a wall of heat hit him in the face, maybe black wasn’t the best choice, maybe clothes at all….
He squinted his eyes against the suns glare to take a look at his new home.
