Scene 8: Selfish
UnscriptedIt had given him more pain than what Yixing may have experienced. Luhan eventually coaxed Yixing into talking back to him. Luhan had always been the more emotional one, and usually Yixing would do the comforting. This time, Luhan had to dress in his battle gear and find his way back home in Yixing’s warmth, through the barricade of guilt and anger.
When Yixing broke, Luhan had a feeling that the only reason he forgave him was because Yixing only wanted Luhan to stop crying. Luhan knew he was being selfish for not caring, but he is and he will always be.
They spend the next couple of days sliding back into routine, avoiding awkward mentions of Yifan as much as possible but Yixing had demanded a basic history recount. Luhan only told him what he thinks Yixing needed to hear. And still it felt like the weight was too much for poor Yixing.
Yixing: Are you guys okay now?
Luhan: I guess so…
Yixing: Oh good. Good. Very good.
Luhan: You mean it?
Yixing: Of course!
He pulls Luhan to a hug, which makes everything okay in an instant. Yixing hides his discomfort away, and if Luhan knew, he would have pretended to not see it anyway. He didn’t know what else to do; how else to make it okay?
Yixing: Are you going to be working tomorrow?
Luhan: Yes (looking away)
He feels Yixing studying him, but he doesn’t tell Yixing he has other plans. Whoever said friends can’t meet to catch up?
