Scene 6: Stay with Me
UnscriptedYixing frequents the old coffee shop that smells like wood varnish where Luhan sits around in, waiting for inspiration. He sits and watches Luhan intently, as if there is so much happiness to be found in observing a frustrated man trying to sketch. Luhan sees him from the corner of his eyes, stealing glances and picturing his mind like a polaroid camera, tucking away images of impressed and chuckling Yixing in his little mind palace.
Luhan: What’re you looking at (tries to cover up his smile)
Yixing: Your drawing. It gets better everytime (sighs)
Luhan: Not me? (Looks offended)
Yixing: Why would I want to look at you? (Scoffs jokingly)
Luhan: (Looks hurt and feigns sadness) My charming good looks are hard to resist… My ego is hurt, Yixing.
Yixing: Your ego is growing bigger than your eyes.
Luhan: You like my eyes.
Yixing: That’s not a question?
Luhan: Because I know you do (smirks)
Yixing: I don’t know you (looks away and hides his smile behind the steaming paper cup)
Luhan: Ah, but we’re together (puts his pencil down and laces his fingers through Yixing’s, grinning)
Yixing: Unfortunately (hangs his head low and sighs)
Luhan leans forward and plants a fleeting kiss that lingers, just between his eyes and cheekbones, and it feels like he got some pixie dust on his lips.
Yixing stands up from his seat, and Luhan’s eyes are trained on him, but they don’t have to travel far because Yixing is now nestled up next to him.
Luhan: It’s squeezy, get off.
Yixing: Lies! You want me (ignores Luhan’s stuttering protests as he siddles up closer and rests his head in the cozy corner on Luhan’s bony shoulder)
Luhan: Get off! (Luhan tries to push Yixing off, half laughing and half grunting)
Yixing: You'll never win! (Yixing latches on to Luhan like a stranded koala bear and Luhan makes a noise, giving up)
Luhan: Stupid... (sighs and wraps his arm around Yixing) Stay with me like this (whispers, soft and fragile like the silence that follows)
