Unexpected Visitor

Ever since she was little Chaerin loved to make up stories about people she saw on the street. It’s always fun to come up with ridiculous stories about somebody hiding a dead body in their closet or being an undercover cop but the longer she played that game she realized that in the end she would find out more about herself than the person whose life she tried to discover.

So she doesn’t know what she just find out about herself when Bom’s mystery man who she imagined as some sort of a gangster smiles at her from behind the counter and asks her what book she wants to buy. She tells him the name of the book Bom sent her to buy and he goes to the back room to find it.

The ringing of her phone wakes up Chaerin from her thoughts. She picks it up only to be greeted by Bom’s panicking voice ˝Chaerin I need your help.˝

˝Calm down,˝ Chaerin says trying to remember what could of happened to upset Bom this much ˝What happened?˝

˝My mom,˝ Bom says and sighs ˝She came earlier than expected and I’m seriously going to kill myself if I have to spend a minute longer listening why I need a new wardrobe.˝

˝Just breathe in and out,˝ Chaeri mentally curses knowing that everything she planed to do today is ruined because she will have to keep her eye on Bom and her mother ˝I’ll be there in a minute.˝

˝You better.˝ is Bom’s only reply before she hangs up.

Chaerin pays for the book and leaves the bookshop as fast as she can. If there is one thing she learned about Bom and her mom it’s that despite how much they love each other they still drive each other crazy.

She arrives to Bom’s apartment in five minutes. To her surprise there aren’t any shards of broken plates or glasses on the floor. But she gets her answer when she sees Mrs. Park sitting alone in the kitchen.

˝Hello,˝ Chaerin says formally ˝Where is Bom?˝

˝She went out to buy some sugar.˝ Mrs. Park smiles. She always liked Chaerin but than again who wouldn’t like somebody who brings their company a lot of money.

The next ten minutes are filled with talking about Chaerin’s future projects and Mrs. Park asks a couple questions about Bom. Chaerin answers all Bom related questions exactly like Bom told her to short and simple without much details. Just as Mrs. Park is talking about her latest trip Bo enters the kitchen.

˝Ah, you made it,˝ Bom flashes a grateful smile at Chaerin that Mrs. Park doesn’t notice ˝Do you want to drink something?˝

˝No, I’m fine.˝ Chaerin shakes her head ˝Your mother was just telling me how she had a good time in New York.˝

˝Ah, it must have been nice.˝ Bom turns around to place the sugar she bought on its place and she uses this opportunity to roll her eyes.

˝It was,˝ Mrs. Park continues talking her trip not noticing Bom’s sarcasm.

The next couple of hours are spent talking about Mrs. Park’s trip, Chaerin’s book and of course something Mrs. Park has to mention is the fact that Bom is still single. Chaerin is prepared for Bom to roll her eyes at her mother’s words and to start a fight because of it. But it surprises Chaerin when Bom smiles and says ˝Who knows what will happen? I might meet my prince charming tomorrow.˝

That is enough to send Mrs. Park into a round of questioning in order to find out if Bom already is dating and hiding it from her. After another half of hour convincing that Bom is single and an offer to go drinking witch both Bom and Chaerin declined Mrs. Park finally goes home.

˝It’s kind of late,˝ Bom says looking at the clock ˝Do you want to sleep here tonight?˝

˝All right,˝ Chaerin nods.

Chaerin doesn’t mss the way Bom happily hums as she goes into her room to find an extra blanket when usually after meeting her mother she looks like she got run over by a train. There isn’t much Chaerin can find out right now but she promises to herself that tomorrow she will find out more about Bom’s mystery man.

Seungri sighs and slams his head down on the counter in front of him. Bom texted him two days ago that Chaerin will come to the book store but there still isn’t any sign of her. And the fact that Seunghyun is practically glowing after his meeting with Bom isn’t helping Seungri at all.

˝What are you sulking about now?˝ Seunghyun asks as he passes by Seungri.

˝Nothing,˝ the younger stands up strait once again ˝I’m just thinking about some stuff.˝

˝What stuff?˝

˝Nothing you need to worry about.˝

˝You sound like you are planning a murder or a robbery.˝ Seunghyun laughs at his own joke.

I’m planning your murder because you can’t tell when somebody likes you. Instead of voicing out his thoughts Seungri laughs along with Seunghyun. ˝You never know.˝ he says trying to sound as serious as possible.

˝Get back to work,˝ Seunghyun smacks the back of his head ˝Feeling sorry for yourself won’t solve whatever problem you are having right now.˝

With that Seunghyun leaves Seungri alone. Even if Seungri hates to admit it the older is right. There is no use in standing around doing nothing but it’s easier said than done. He looks around the store trying to find something interesting when somebody catches his attention. A woman with a hat that’s covering her face is standing behind a shelf and looking at Seunghyun as he arranges some books at the children’s department.

Seungri decides to talk to the woman because there is nothing better to do. ˝Excuse me,˝ he clears his throat before speaking so she doesn’t get scared ˝Can I help you with something?˝

˝No, I’m just looking around,˝ the woman pulls her hat down as she nervously speaks ˝I’m fine.˝

Seungri looks at her than at Seunghyun who is still too busy (and oblivious) to notice that somebody is watching him. ˝Why are you spying on my friend?˝ Seungri asks not bothering to beat around the bush.

The woman turns around and Seungri doesn’t know if he should be sad or happy when he sees that it’s Chaerin. ˝He is your friend?˝ Chaerin looks like a kid on Christmas morning when Seungri nods ˝I need your help.˝

˝Why?˝ Seungri doesn’t know how to react other that to stare at Chaerin because this wasn’t a part of his plan.

˝Well…your friend meet up with my friend but she doesn’t want to talk about it so I wanted to just…˝ Chaerin doesn’t finish but Seungri knows what she means.

˝You wanted to see who he is,˝ He smiles hoping that it will calm Chaerin down a little ˝But I still don’t know why you need my help.˝

˝I was wondering,˝ Chaerin looks at the floor too embarrassed to look at Seungri’s eyes as she asks ˝Can you help me find out why is he meeting with my friend?˝

Seungri pretends to think about it for a minute before he agrees so it doesn’t look to suspicious. He tries to not smile to widely as they exchange phone numbers. Even after Chaerin thanks him and leaves Seungri doesn’t move from his spot.

˝What are you dong?˝ his boss, Kwon Jiyong, snaps as he passes by him ˝I don’t pay you to creep people out with that weird smile.˝

Seungri goes back to work but the smile doesn’t disappear from his face.
