Ri-In was in the front yard t the rose bushes when Ha-Neul approached her.
“I heard you went out with Junsu yesterday.”
Ri-In quickly tucked the scissors into her dress pocket and bowed a greeting. Ha-Neul crossed her arms and walked to the rose bush that Ri-In was t. She plucked off a rose in full bloom, and one that hasn’t even started blooming yet.
“Ri-In, you went out with Junsu yesterday didn’t you?”
Ri-In nodded.
“Did you know that Junsu and I, we, had a date planned? Did you know that Ri-In?”
Ri-In quickly shook her head. Then she remembered. She remembered the call he received while they were in the grocery store.
“Ha-Neul, I’m so-”
“Ri-In, you see these two flowers?” Ha-Neul raised both of her hands and twirled the two roses between her fingers. “They’re both flowers right?”
Ri-In nodded, suddenly growing nervous. Ha-Neul took a step closer to Ri-In.
“You see, they’re both roses, they’re both ‘beautiful’. But this one,” she raised the one that hasn’t bloom yet, “this one, will never get recognize for her beauty. She’ll get admire, because…she’s ‘cute.’ But sadly, that’s about it. Nobody really wants it.” She dropped the flower and stepped over it, thus gaining a step towards Ri-In also. “But this one,” she held up the full bloom rose up closer to Ri-In’s face, almost touching her, “this one is beautiful. Everyone loves it. Everyone wants to pick it up and smell it and admire it. But…when she’s handled wrongly, she can damage.” And with that, Ha-Neul pressed the rose’s thorn against Ri-In’s cheek, and dragged the rose downward, causing a red trail of blood down Ri-In’s cheek. “Don’t mess with me Orphan.” Ha-Neul then smiled and made her way towards the main house.
Ri-In just stood there after Ha-Neul left.
“Unni? Unni?! Your cheek’s bleeding. Omo omo!” Min fussed around her as she took out a napkin and carefully pat Ri-In’s cheek. “What happen? Did you hurt yourself? Why weren’t you careful?”
“What happen?” Ri-In and Min quickly turned to spoken voice.
“Hero oppa! I don’t know what happen. I came to look for Ri-In and her cheek was bleeding.” Hero quickly came over and gently lifted up Ri-In’s face. “Min, do you have a band-aid?”
Min suddenly stopped fussing and started digging though her pockets.
“Ri-In, what happen?”
“I…I wasn’t careful.”
Hero smiled. “And how were you not careful?”
“I…I tripped and feel.”
“Really? And you only managed to scratch this side?”
“Found one!”
“Thank-you Minnie.”
Min blushed and smiled widely.
“Now stay still,” Hero gently placed his right hand under her chin, and carefully lift her face upward towards his. He then unwrapped the band aid and carefully placed it on her cheek.
“There, all done! You look so cute with that band aid on your cheek! Don’t you think so Minnie?” Minnie nodded in agreement.
“Hero oppa, thank-you. Minnie, what did you need me for?” Minnie thought for a second, then shrug her shoulders. “I forgot. Let me go ask Ms. Chu again. See you later Hero oppaaaaaaa.”
“You have so many fans here Oppa.”
“Are you one of them?”
Ri-In blushed and went back to t the roses. “Why wouldn’t I? Hero oppa has always been there for Ri-In.” Hero smiled and went around the roses-facing Ri-In. “Ri-In, would you go on a date with me tomorrow?”
Ri-In didn’t answer. She just stared at the roses.
“Ri-In?”
“Hero, why would you ask me that?”
Hero laughed as he pushes his hand through his hair. “Because I want to spend a day with you.”
“Aren’t…aren’t you afraid someone will see?”
“Oh yeah? Like who?”
“People…I’m just…well, me.”
“And I’ll love to spend a day with this ‘me’. If she lets. So please, will this ‘me’ say yes?”
Ri-In laughed and smiled at Hero. “Okay, this me says okay.”

Junsu stood outside her door. He’s still not sure why he’s there at this hour of the time, but yet, here he is.
“Gahh, stupid, what are you doing here,” Junsu mumbled to himself. He walked around the small cottage, and landed back at the doorstep. He rubbed his hands against his thighs in frustration and walked around the cottage again, landing at the doorstep.
“Junsu? Junsu! What are you doing at this time in front of Ri-In’s door?? Don’t tell me you’re going to bother the poor girl because Jin Ae and Eun Ae aren’t home today. Leave the poor girl alone!”
Junsu turned around and face Ms. Chu’s stern face. “Ah, Ms. Chu… Um…I heard that Ri-In got hurt today….and I was just gonna…check up on her.”
Ms. Chu placed her hands on her hips and smiled. “Really Junsu. Took you long enough. Its already midnight!”
“I…I was busy! Sky came over!”
“Ahhh, Sky. Well then, you’re hands already full. Leave Ri-In out,” Ms. Chu then turned around as if she was leaving, then quickly turned back around and face Junsu, “and you don’t need to worry about Ri-In. Hero already took cared of her. Oh! He was so gentle. He carefully placed the band aid on her cheek, and he even blew on it!” Ms. Chu chuckled and laughed at herself. “My my my, what a fine young man. Ah yes! I came to tell you that Ri-In won’t be working tomorrow, Hero ask me personally that he’s taking Ri-In out. So don’t ask/bother her at all you hear me!” Ms. Chu then turn around and left.
Junsu turned back to Ri-In’s door, suddenly wanting to kick it. Instead, he turned around and kicked a pebble. “So much for me caring. I WON'T care anymore!!”
