My day seemed to start off very well. I woke up with no headache which is surprising given the fact that I only had 3 hours of sleep.

Not that I complain. I'm used to getting this amount of sleep. Especially this month, I seek to be promoted to a higher post. And in order to achieve this goal I have to work hard and if that means accepting all the sacrifices such as sleep for example or dating I’m willing to do that.

I honestly can't remember the last time I went out somewhere. Shopping or even just for fun. I couldn't manage my time to do so.

I work 12 hours per day including Saturdays. But even on Sundays I have work to do so it's not like I can have a rest.

Sometimes I even have to do overtimes. However I believe that the current suffer I’m going through is worth what I'll achieve in a few years time.

Once I'll achieve my goal I'll thank myself for sacrificing all those things and working really hard.

I yawed and got up from the bed slowly. It's 4am I have 30 minutes to get ready and then another 20 to get there.

To most women 30 minutes might seem like not much time but it's enough for me.

Unlike my best friend, Minji, I don't apply make-up or look for a different dress and shoes every single morning.

Of course I care about my appearance. It's important to look professional and maintained but that basically means not to have messy hair, wear clean clothes, smell nice and wear a bright smile.

30 minutes for me are enough to drink some coffee, eat a small but a satiating breakfast, making sure I have all documents and to read a few pages of a book.

As I was leaving the apartment I stopped and looked around for a moment. A sad smile covered my face. I earned a lot of money and I have a lot of them saved up as well. When I was a kid I dreamt of earning enough money to be able to buy a little house somewhere in the countryside and have my own horse. I studied really hard at school and kept telling myself that once I’ll get a good job everything will be fine.

But it isn’t.

Adulthood changed me. I think it changes everyone. Once I finished university I had a great degree and there were so many well-paid jobs I could choose from. My childhood dreams of living in a countryside with my own little family vanished. Now it seems like life is running away. I’m already 23 and my whole life goes in circles  around work. As a kid I believed that by that age I’ll be already married. I always wanted a big wedding. I imagined myself in a glorious white dress holding light pink roses marrying a man of my dreams.

Now I’m starting to doubt that I’ll even have a boyfriend before my thirties.

This apartment wasn’t what I dreamt of. This life wasn’t.

I’m not the kind of person who’s keen on big diamonds, fast cars and luxury clubs.

I’ve put nearly all of my money into this apartment. It’s modern and has all the expensive functions apartaments can have but yet, it has never seemed like a home to me.

I sigh and close the door. Leaving my thoughts behind them.

I have to focus. Today is quite of a big day. Me and Minji had been working on a project that’s due in today. It’s very important because it’s our boss who will assess it.

I leave earlier than usual to get to work early and set the project up. I also have to discuss some odds and ends with Minji before we agree that it’s completely finished.

As I enter the building our receptionist Sungjong greets me.

I walk over to the reception desk to sign myself in.

"You’re in quite early today" He states.

"Yeah, I have a few things to do before the presentation" I say and as I finish writing my surname I read through the names on the list.

"Minji’s not in yet?" I ask reading each name on the list again.

"Not that I’ve seen." He shrugs.

"Make sure to remember me as a kind person after I get sat into jail for killing this woman." I say with a smile and head towards the elevator.

"Good luck on the presentation!!" Sungjong shouts after me.

Once I get into the office I’m not trying to hide my frustration. We discussed this last night. She was supposed to arrive early as well. However I decide not to call her yet because if she’s most probably driving she won’t pick up.

I let out a loud sigh because now I have nothing to do. I can’t start anything without her so I got here early for nothing basically.
