To say that Kyuhyun felt like was an understatement. Right when he woke up, there was a constant pounding in his head that he recognized belatedly as hangover. He had had hangovers before but this one ing hurt. Maybe he drank too much last night.

What was he doing last night again?

Oh yeah, he had another phone call in the afternoon from his father, that bastard. And of course just like every other time, they had an argument. This time Kyuhyun was so ing pissed off at his father and after a shot of morphine to calm himself down, he decided to ditch his job and go to the bar instead. Sometimes being an oncologist had its perks. He often had to deal with patients who had an immense amount of pain so the hospital granted special authorization for the drugs.

He met a man at the bar, what was his name, Simon? Siwon? Siwon. 

Kyuhyun remembered vaguely what this man looked like but he bought him drinks. The morphine also helped too though. It gave him a calming presence, like he was invincible and could do anything he wanted to, no matter what his parents might say. And so when this man began to kiss him and dragged him to a hotel, Kyuhyun didn’t mind that. He needed the outlet.

The next thing he knew, morning came. At first he wasn’t feeling much crappier than usual. He was drunk yesterday so it was understandable that he had a hangover. His throat was itchy too. He coughed once and opened his eyes. 

Whoever was in the room had enough sense to keep the light at a minimum. There was nothing Kyuhyun hated more than see a glaring sunlight when he just woke up. Plus with that constant pounding in his head, the light would’ve hurt his eyes. He began to look around the room and whoa, there were so many people he didn’t know. All of them were staring at him strangely. Was he in a brothel or something?

And then he felt it.

At first it was only at the back of his mind, then it slowly began to creep up on his own consciousness and finally he could feel it clearly. There was a constant, alien, presence in his head. Like something else was living inside him. It was disgusting. Kyuhyun’s mind could only process one thing: what the hell was that, what the ing hell was that?Unconsciously he gripped his head, wanting to tear his brain out because it was so ing scary.

He could feel the presence growing closer and closer and closer. He wanted it to stop moving, just ing stop. His grip on his head became tighter, almost like he was clawing into his own skin. But instead of stopping, the presence grew bigger until he could finally feel it inside.

Then, he screamed.

Kyuhyun didn’t know how long he was screaming, but with that alien presence in his mind, it felt like an eternity. His head was hurting, his throat felt it was scraped raw and his whole body hurt. But even all those pains were nothing compared to how ing scared he was within his own mind.

What in the world was happening? What the hell was that presence? 

A sob escaped him. He couldn’t breathe. His lungs refused to work or maybe it was just the mental pressure, Kyuhyun didn’t know. He didn’t want to know. He just wanted this horrible blood-curling experience to end. The feeling was so overwhelming it numbed his senses. He drew in ragged breath. It was not enough. He wanted to breathe, he desperately wanted to breathe but why couldn’t he?

“Calm down. Kyuhyun, listen to me. Calm down.” Somebody was speaking to him but who? Whose voice was that that asked him to calm down? And how the could he calm down? There was another presence growing inside his mind.

“Control your wolf, control it.”

What the ing insanity was this man talking about? What wolf?

Suddenly an incredibly dominating feeling infiltrated his mind and somehow that alien presence that had crept up began to back away a bit.

“Breathe,” that very same voice spoke. “Take deep breath.”

How? His mind screamed back at him. His lungs didn’t work anymore, there was only that suffocating feeling he felt. His brain began to get numb by the lack of oxygen supply and Kyuhyun knew it was only a matter of time before he was dead for real.

And then that incredibly dominating feeling came back. But this time somehow Kyuhyun knew what he had to do. This person who spoke to him, whoever he was, was so damn powerful. Kyuhyun just felt that this was a person he had toobey. And he was ordering Kyuhyun to breathe and take deep breath, so alright, Kyuhyun would try doing that. He would keep trying even if he was failing again and again because this person, this voice, was his Alpha.

Alpha? Where the hell did that come from?

A wave of calmness washed over him and quite suddenly, everything began to clear up a bit, just enough so that Kyuhyun knew what he had to do and how. His lungs began to work again and he gasped for breath, as if he was drowning and just came up to the surface again. “Good, now take deep breath and slowly calm down.”

Then, the man spoke again, but now in a praising tone. “Good job, Junsu, you manage to calm him down.”

Another voice replied. “Thanks, but is he okay?”

“He will be.”

Somewhere from the corner, a relief sob was heard and Kyuhyun turned to see who it was. His eyes were still blurry by crowding of tears but through the haze of it all, he saw a familiar face. It was that man, the one whom he met last night at the bar. Siwon. 

But he was looking at him strangely, like a mix of relief, being scared less and hope, all mixed up together. Somebody else was gripping Siwon’s arm tightly, as if to make sure he wasn’t escaping and Kyuhyun frowned at that. Why did Siwon need restraining? 

“Kyuhyun?” The same voice called his name. Kyuhyun turned around and saw a stranger’s face looking at him. Somehow instinctively he lowered his eyes, unable to meet this man’s eyes and he began to tremble. He then looked down, only to get shocked because his own body was covered in blood. Whose blood was that? What the hell was he doing last night?

Someone offered him a clean towel. “Here, you might need it.”

Kyuhyun looked up to see that same stranger. “You should clean up that blood a bit and change into clean clothes,” the stranger said, “My name is Yunho and I’m your Alpha.”

This was madness, it must be. There was no other explanation. Another consciousness living inside someone was completely unheard of, except if you were a psychiatrist and was treating patients with mental illness. But Kyuhyun was not a psychiatrist, although he was sure that these people were mental patients.

This Yunho, who introduced himself as Kyuhyun’s Alpha, told him about werewolves and that now Kyuhyun was a werewolf. That alone was crazy. There was no such thing as werewolves and definitely Kyuhyun was not one of them. 

The disbelief must have shown on his face, because then Yunho said, “I know it’s hard to believe, but this is the truth. You are a werewolf now.” He then gestured at another person, “That guy over there is Junsu, he’s the submissive in the pack. That calm feeling you felt before you can breathe again? That’s him. The alien presence that made you scream? That’s your wolf. He’s inside you and well, another consciousness of yours.”

Kyuhyun’s mind was whirling. Too much. This was too much information going on all at once and he was still convinced that it was all a dream. A dream where there were so many strangers he never met and that his own body was bleeding.

“Yunho, I think he should eat first. He’s lost too much blood earlier,” somebody else spoke. Kyuhyun watched the person who spoke touch Yunho’s back and instantly Yunho’s features softened.

“You’re right Jae. Where’s Yoochun? I thought he’s bringing the food.”

“He’s coming up here, he just arrived.”

Few minutes later, the door opened and another person came in. He had a beanie and a winter coat on. In his hands were numerous plastic bags which must contain packages of food. Another man who looked strikingly similar to him followed. Kyuhyun frowned, they must be siblings. 

All these strangers looked at each other, like they were having a silent conversation between themselves. Every now and then, one of them would look at him in pity. Kyuhyun felt a wave of anger washed through him. The last thing he wanted in this world was pity. Pity was for weaklings and Kyuhyun was not a weakling. His bastard of a father made sure of that. If he was raised in pity since childhood, Kyuhyun wouldn’t have survived with all the pressure and expectation his family put on him.

Suddenly there was a plate of raw meat placed in front of him. Kyuhyun looked up to see the one named Junsu smiled shyly. “Eat that. It will help to calm your wolf down.”

“My what?”

“Your wolf.”

“What are you, crazy?” Kyuhyun asked scathingly.

There was a growl from the corner. It was such a beastly growl that Kyuhyun couldn’t help but flinched. It came from the corner where Siwon was and Kyuhyun realized that the growl came from the man who had been holding Siwon. There was a strange golden glow around the man’s eyes. Siwon then looked up to the man, whining desperately. “Don’t. Please. He’s… he doesn’t mean to insult Junsu. Please, Changmin.”

“Min, it’s fine,” Kyuhyun heard Junsu replied. “Calm down.”

There was one last growl before the golden glow disappeared from Changmin’s eyes. Kyuhyun watched as Siwon exhaled in relief. What the hell just happened? He felt like he was in the wild, with all the growls and golden glows and it felt like he was in a…. wolf pack.

A cold fear gripped him. What if everything that Yunho said was true? However before he could think about it further, Junsu spoke, “Come on, you have to eat. Otherwise your wolf will be so hungry and you will lose control again.”

Maybe it was because everything didn’t make sense or because he didn’t know what he was doing, but Kyuhyun looked at that plate of raw meat and grabbed one of the pieces. It was still bloody and although he was a doctor, Kyuhyun couldn’t help but feeling nauseated. He had seen lots of blood and flesh (human flesh) but he always touched them with gloves acting as a layer of protection. To suddenly hold a piece of raw meat with his bare hands brought a disgusted feeling within him.

And yet, he lifted the piece up and brought it to his lips, trying not to think that he was actually eating raw meat.

It tasted horrible. A vile, disgusting taste spread over his mouth after the first bite. Kyuhyun tried to swallow the meat, but only one second later the meat came back up. He managed to move just in time so that whatever he was throwing up would spill on the carpeted floor next to his bed. 

“.” Somebody cursed, “I forgot he was drunk yesterday.”

“Plus his mind refused to accept the fact that he’s a werewolf. Maybe that’s why he’s throwing up,” someone else added.

“He can’t stay here and he can’t be left alone,” Kyuhyun heard Yunho spoke, “We have to bring him home.”

Home? Where is home? His mind questioned. Everything was so surreal, so bizarre that Kyuhyun could only cling to the one thing he was sure about – no matter how much he hated it. The sure fact of how disappointed his parents must be if they saw him in this pathetic condition. But then again, when had he ever fulfilled their expectations?
