Prologue
Maroon DestructionBlack and red.
All I can see is dipped in either shades of dark grey or in dull scarlet red.
There’s no one there, the horizon is never-ending, but I’m standing alone. No sound reaches my ears and the feel of oxygen is too polluted to travel to my lungs.
Something is missing.
The silence swallows the horizon, a black curtain falling around me, surrounding me, drowning me. I can barely breathe. There’s something behind it that I cannot see. There is something there, standing—I can hear the light inhales of the creature.
All I can see now is a pair of red eyes glowing behind the curtain, digging holes through me with their strong stare, challenging me, teasing me, fooling me. But I know I should not respond.
I stand still, watching from afar the eyes before the curtain is cut and falls down. There is nothing and I’m left by myself once again. The mysterious creature has disappeared as well and I’m met with a sky that is slowly taking a red hue.
A red hue that looks suspiciously too much like blood.
I try to pry my eyes away, but I can’t. Somehow, I am pulled towards the sky, the color so familiar, almost the same shade as my own; maroon.
Surprise strikes me and when I blink my eyes, I catch a black form right before my eyelids close. But I can’t open them anymore.
And I know.
