five love stories that we know [JeTi]
Favourite Soshi Fics
Review:
Jessica and Tiffany's relationship, from beginning to renewal, in five ~800 word drabbles. It's amazing how much emotion darkaslay can put in so little words. The prose is beyond lovely; the imagery is so vivid and beautiful, and although I'm not a fan of second person POV, I think it worked well here. The ending feels a bit choppy, because of the many month break between the parts, but overall a great read.
Excerpt:
She looks up at you—the smile, you notice the smile first because her teeth look like they belong in Crest commercial—and when you glance at her eyes a black hole erupts in your chest and every atom of oxygen from your body. That’s as poetic as it gets because there’re no fireworks, no epiphanic revelations. There’s only your beating heart, beating a Morse code that pulsates through every cell in your body until nothing—the air you breathe, the warm sun, your own existence—isn’t as true as your love for this girl, in a flower shop that you wouldn’t have ever dreamed of stepping into if you hadn’t picked up that one phone call.
