Chapter 2; new students

“When you came into the gym, you were given a nametag with a boarded color,” Mr. Shim started. “The class boards will stand over at the booths with the corresponding colors. You are to walk over to your respective color representatives and wait for their further instructions.”

The gym broke out into a small commotion, the new students slowly climbing down the bleachers while chatting with their small groups of friends. Ryujin felt her arm tug at the side and saw Chanyeol pulling her to their neon green booth. “Well this is an interesting color,” Chanyeol commented, running his hand over the cloth on the table.

“Yeah… are you really not worried?”

Before he could even respond, a group of male students came up to their table. She didn’t know about Chanyeol, but she couldn’t help but gawk at them. She’s had her fair share of good looking people in her life, but when she saw them, she couldn’t help but slowly rake her eyes over the boys’ features.

“Ah, you must be in our group,” Chanyeol started, a bright smile spreading, “I’m Park Chanyeol, this here, is Jeon Ryujin.”

One of them stepped out, stretching his hand out, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Bang Yongguk. Thank you for welcoming us into Dongsan, it’s a very nice school.” The other boys, as if following suit, bowed their heads and smiled at the board members.

“Yongguk-sshi, that’s a cool name!” Chanyeol acknowledged. Yongguk only nodded his gratitude, and looked over at Ryujin who still kept silent. She blinked back at him, then at the rest only to realize that all the eyes were on her.

Taking in the awkward silence, Ryujin cleared , “So, on the table are your schedules, I believe some of you are under classmen, so Chanyeol and I won’t be in the same class as you, but for those of you who are, there’s a  chance that you are in one of our classes.”

“Which one of you are seniors?” Chanyeol asked.

“Himchan, Daehyun, and I are seniors.” Yongguk spoke up, pointing at the other boys next to him. Ryujin gave them a stern nod then looked at Yongguk, who cleared his throat, and glared at them, “Yah, why don’t you guys’ introduce yourselves?”

“You’re blaming us? You won’t give us a chance to talk!” the one with the sharp eyes sneered, glaring over at the deep voiced brute.

“Did you miss that hour long silence?” The boy responded, his shoulders shaking as he chuckled at the younger. Ryujin and Chanyeol watched the younger sharp tongue stomp his foot in anger. She felt her cheeks rise up for a smile at the sight. “You could have said something then!”

“That would have been rude. Did your mother not teach you—“

“Hi, nice to meet you, I’m Yoo Youngjae—“ Another boy stepped up.

“YAH!” Another stomp.

“—it’s nice to meet you both.”

Youngjae ignored the whining boy and stepped forward, grabbing onto Chanyeol’s hand, shaking violently, “You’re awesome.” Chanyeol gave him a slanted smile, slowly pulling his hand away from the shake. But the boy wouldn’t let go, he kept shaking and the treasurer had to rip the new boys’ arm off of him.

Ryujin bit her bottom lip, trying not to laugh at her uncomfortable best friend. When another boy stepped up next to Youngjae, she blinked, “Ah, I can see the curious gleam in your eyes. You want to know who I am, don’t you?”

“Uh.”

The boy next to him sneered, “She has your file which means, your picture and your name. She could easily look your insignificant up.” Youngjae looked back at Ryujin, “His name is—“

“Daehyun. Jung Daehyun.” The said boy sent her a greasy smile, “But you can call me Oppa.” After sending a wink her way, Daehyun smiled to himself, proud of his own introduction.

“How do you know I’m younger than you?” Ryujin asked, folding her arms across her chest.

“Well,” he answered, shifting a little uncomfortably, “I don’t.”

“Right.” Chanyeol put in. He grabbed the pieces of papers on the table and handed half of them to Ryujin. “Here are your schedules, Yongguk-sshi... Himchan-sshi and…Daehyun-sshi.”

Ryujin handed Youngjae his schedule, then called out, “Moon Jongup-sshi?” He came from behind Yongguk and Himchan, stepping towards Ryujin with a smile.

“Hello, I’m Jongup.” She watches the boy continue to smile and blink at her for a short while before she giggled a little.

“Nice to meet you, Jongup-sshi, study well.”

“I will!” He put up a fighting gesture and continued his smile as he stepped next to Daehyun and Youngjae who were comparing their schedules.

Ryujin for the last student to step up, but ended up peering over Yongguks’ shoulder instead. The last boy, Choi Junhong was the youngest out of all of them, and was in his own class. She waited and kept staring when Yongguk finally noticed. He stepped aside, revealing a very tall innocent faced stranger. (It wasn’t that she couldn’t see him at all, the kid was tall). The board members blinked lightly, patiently waiting.

“Zelo-yah,” he started, “go ahead and grab your schedule.” The youngest looked up at his elder and nodded before scurrying over to the table and grabbing his schedule from Ryujin—a little too violently. The girl jumped a little, blinking lightly.

“Zelo!”

He stopped after the light scolding and turned to Ryujin, bowing his head lightly. “I’m v
