Married To My Boss
Chapter Twenty
Haru opened her eyes only to close them shut once more when the lights blinded her sight. She groaned lazily and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes before trying to open them once more. She recognised the room she was in the moment she looked around and sighed at the content feeling in her chest. She shyly smiled when she recalled last night's event before turning to her side and frowned when she saw the other side of the bed empty. Slowly, Haru sat up and wrapped herself with the sheets before walking out of the room, looking for her husband.
A soft gasp left when she found him in the kitchen; standing by the stove with his pajama pants only. Haru couldn't help but admire the image of Kris Wu standing shirtless by the stove cooking breakfast - something she never thought she'd witness. While she was busy admiring her husband's figure, Kris turned and finally noticed her standing by the wall. He smiled at the alluring sight of her in her bed hair and body wrapped in sheets before turning off the stove and walking over to her. Haru was surprised with his sudden appearance and blushed red crimson when Kris pulled her forward to his bare chest.
"Good morning." he whispered.
"G-Good morning." Kris chuckled and his hand reached up to fix her hair. "Did you sleep well last night?" he asked and she timidly nodded, earning an amused smile from him. She felt a shiver go down her spine as Kris kept his eyes on her before frowning when his smile disappeared.
"What's wrong?" she asked. Kris sighed before biting his bottom lip. "Did I.... hurt you?" he asked. Haru blinked in surprise before a smile slowly grew on her face. She was touched by his question and she shook her head. "You didn't," she assured him. "I'm okay." Kris sighed in relief before smiling again. "I'm glad."
Haru suddenly chuckled and he raised a brow at her. "What's so funny?" he asked and she chuckled once more. "Nothing." she lied and Kris gave her a smirk before stepping closer, making her take a few steps back. She gave a surprise yelp when her back hit the wall and she gulped when Kris leaned his face down to hers. "Shall I repeat myself?" he asked playfully and she gulped.
"N-No." "Then?" Haru swallowed once more before saying, "I just think you should s-smile more. It looks good on you." Her answer brought him by surprise and he blinked before straightening up once more. "Uhhh... thanks." he replied. Kris suddenly felt awkward but he tried to push it away before he does anything that might upset her. "Uhh... should we eat breakfast?" he asked and Haru glanced at the kitchen before nodding.
Breakfast was awkward.
At least for Haru, that is.
As Haru chewed on the fried rice Kris had prepared, her eyes travelled to her husband's and she moved her gaze when he stared right back. Kris chuckled in amusement. "Is there something on my face?" he asked and she quickly shook her head. "Then I guess I must be really good looking, huh?" he mused and she automatically rolled her eyes at him. Seeing this, Kris narrowed his eyes at her and she stuck her tongue out playfully for him to see, much to his amusement.
"You're different." Haru suddenly commented when Kris was pouring her another cup of guava juice. He stopped midway and gave her a glance before proceeding with his actions. "What do you mean?" he asked. "You're... nice."
Kris raised a brow at this. "Have I been evil all these while?" Haru blushed and shook her head. "No, but you haven't really been nice either." she pointed out. "Yes I have." Kris childishly counters. Haru rolled her eyes and give him a pointed look. The man sighed before admitting defeat. "Fine, you're right." he admitted. "But, do you prefer a nice Kris or a not-so-nice Kris?" he asked.
"Nice Kris." she quickly replied, earning herself a smirk from her husband. "So there you have it." he said. "But why so sudden?" Kris sighed and placed down his spoon. "Haru, we said we'd try. And I don't think I can give myself a chance if I don't try to change the way I am, don't you think?" Haru nodded but she wasn't done with her interrogation. "But still, what made you want to try? Why now?"
"You're doubting me, aren't you?" Kris suddenly asked and she widened her eyes. "What!? No!" she denied and gave him a serious look. "Kris, we're married now. And we agreed to take things slowly, but last night-"
"-was amazing." he cuts her off and she gaped before blushing madly. "I w-was going to s-say too f-fast and uhmm--" "--so you didn't enjoy it?" he cuts her again and she blushed. "I-I d-didn't say that!" she stuttured before frowning when he laughed. "Yah! It's not funny." she pouted. "Fine. I get it, Haru. You're scared." Kris suddenly said which made her blink in surprise.
"You're worried because the Kris you knew to be mean is suddenly... changing. But you see, I know I can't live like this all the time, Haru." he confessed. "I've got to change somehow. And when's the better time to do so other than now? Like you said, we're married now. I have a wife to look after. I might've been fooling around before; sleeping around with random girls and , but I am not the type to just wreck my own marriage like some ."
Haru was totally stunned at this point. She didn't know what there is to say so she let him continue. "I didn't agree to this marriage at first because I don't know if I can take care of you, Haru. But I can't deny the fact that I'm attracted to you, and truth be told, I want you to be my wife." Haru blushed at his confession before taking a deep breath to calm herself. "Okay, I understand." she told him. "Thank you," she suddenly said. "For wanting to change and make our marriage work. I'm really glad that you're willing to try this out as much as I do."
"Yeah..." he awkwardly replied. He didn't know what to say for that. He didn't expect himself to start telling her all those he did, but he didn't want her to misunderstand and wanted her to know that he meant
