Married To My Boss
Chapter Eleven
At first, Haru didn't quite understand what Kris meant by "We're going to be lovers" but she pretty much got the idea when Monday came. She had just gotten out from her car at the basement parking lot when she spotted the familiar white BMW making its way into the empty parking lot right in front of her own car. Even though her red Hyundai Sonata weren't as expensive as his BMW, she was glad that it at least looks decent enough to be compared to her fiancé's. While she was busy comparing their vehicles, Kris had already made his way towards her and she jumped when she realised their close proximity.
She took in his looks; black suits matched with a white dress shirt and a thin black tie. He was carrying a black leather briefcase in one hand while the other was tucked in his trousers' pockets. What surprised her was his hair - it was no longer blonde but brown. Haru finds herself mesmerized with his looks - although he was dashing every single time she sees him - but she really liked the brown hair compared to the blonde one. She stared at him longer than she intended to, and Kris smirked at this. "How do I look?" he asked with an arrogant smirk on his face and Haru jolted out of her thoughts, blushing before clearing . "Good morning," she greeted, trying to act nonchalant. "You're early today." she noted. "No, you're late."
His words made Haru frown and she glanced at the time on her watch. "It's 7.45AM. Work starts at 8.30AM." she told him and Kris scoffed. "No wonder you guys have been slacking." he murmured under his breath. "Pardon?" Kris simply rolled his eyes, ignoring her question, and made his way to the basement lobby and pressed for the elevator. Silence surrounded them; even after they entered the confinement of the metal compartment. Kris pressed for their respective floors and grabbed onto her hand, pulling her close to his side. Surprised, Haru tried to pull her hand away but Kris's grip was too strong for her.
"Sir, what are you-" Her words got cut off when she was being pressed to his side further and she found his face dangerously close to hers, his lips just a breath away. His hand which was holding onto hers were now around her waist, keeping her close by his side. Before either could say anything, the elevator dinged and Kris released her but kept her close as the doors opened to the lobby, where some of the employees were waiting. They widened their eyes when they recognised the CEO, but most eyes were eyeing their interlocked hands. Kris scoffed and closed the door and the elevator resumed to climb up the floors.
"Wha- What was... that?" Haru managed to squeak. He gave her a slight glance and sighed. "Have you forgotten what I told you, Haru? Call me informally when we're together earns you a kiss." he casually reminded her. Haru gulped at this. It might be a pleasant gift for the other girls, but she was not like other girls. She recalled the almost kiss scene they had and felt a slight relief in her gut when it dawned on her that they didn't kiss.
When the elevator stopped on her floor, Haru realised that her hand was still interlaced with his and she quickly pulled away before stepping out of the small space. She stopped and turned to bow to Kris before the door closes. She didn't know how his expression was because she had refused to look at his face but she could definitely feel his cold eyes on her. Turning around, she released a breath she didn't realise she had been holding and made her to her office, occasionally greeting the employees greeting her.
She had just settled in her office when a knock came to her door and Sooyoung, Luhan's assistant came into the office with a smile on her face. "Here are Mr. Lu's schedules for today," she told her as she handed Haru a tablet with Luhan's schedules. Since Haru was Luhan's right hand man - or in this case, woman - she was entitled to be informed of the male's schedules. "Is he in yet?" she asked his assistant and Sooyoung shook her head. "Well, he should be here soon," Haru concluded to herself after glancing at the time. Luhan was never late to work so she knew when to expect his arrival.
"By the way, I need you to hand this over to Mr. Byun when he arrives and have him sign it." she said as she grabbed a folder on her table, inspecting it before passing it to Sooyoung. The assistant nodded and listened to the furthur instructions Haru was giving her, noting to herself to have it done. Sooyoung was also to assist Haru in her work but her main priority would always be Luhan since she was originally his assistant. "You got that?" Haru asked for confirmation once she was done. "Yeah, got it." the other nodded. "If that's all, you can go." Haru told her but Sooyoung wasn't planning on leaving soon.
"I do have something to ask you." she told her and Haru frowned. "Okay, what is it?" she asked. Sooyoung bit her bottom lip, comtemplating if it's wise to ask but eventually curiousity took over and she abruptly leaned forward, surprising Haru. "Since when did you started dating Mr. Wu?" she asked. Haru blinked at this. "Eh?" "Oh come one, Har- I mean, Ms. Song. Since when did you and the CEO started dating?" she asked once more. The other sighed at this. "Ms. Choi, is it any of your concern?" she asked causing Sooyoung to look embarrassed. Haru was the type to keep business and personal matters aside, and she hated having somone butting into her business. Even though she was on friendly terms with Luhan's assistant, she didn't like the fact that the tall girl tend to be quite nosy and is quite the gossiper.
In the end, Sooyoung was sent out of the office with a folder in her hand and a dejected pout on her lips.
