Sera was in her room, lying on the bed and staring blankly in space. She had locked herself in the room for two days doing nothing but crying herself to sleep. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop thinking about Baekhyun. She had been ignoring all his calls for the whole weekend  and the thought of meeting him at school tomorrow made her stomach churn in an uncomfortable way. She didn't want to see him, because then all the feelings would come rushing back in, she was broken already and did not want to face the bitter reality. The fact that no matter how much she likes Baekhyun, he will never like her back because he had eyes for Yura only made her question herself, why not her?Who was she kidding? She scoffed inwardly, nobody could control what they feel. She knew it better than anyone else. Mentally drained, she felt her eyes getting heavy when she heard the door of her room open and a head peaking from the corner.
"Come on in, I saw you there."
"I am sorry to disturb you, princess but mind telling me what's going on? You have been ignoring my calls for two days which made me so worried, are you alright?" Mark asked as he made his way towards her bed. She looked so weak and Mark felt really sad looking at his dear friend. "I am sorry. It's just that I had too many things on my mind. I wanted to be alone." 
Mark knew what was wrong, so he didn't ask her anything, rather just pulled her close to his chest, patting her head, "You know you can cry, I won't judge you." Why did he have to say that? Because now she couldn't help but cry her heart out. She thought she had cried enough but Mark's words proved her wrong. She cried so hard until no tears were left while he kept patting her head along with the words of comfort and a couple of 'It's okay's'. He finally released her when she calmed down and wiped off her tears." Listen princess, if you guys are fated to be together then I am sure he'll soon realise that his happiness is right here, but if the odds are not in your favour then you can't do anything but move on. You can't cry like this everyday, this way you don't only hurt yourself but also those who love you. Do you know how worried your parents are? Even I can't see you in this state so please princess, stop crying over him. I really miss your beautiful smile." He looked at her with worry evident in his eyes. He was right, she can't carry on like this and afford to hurt the ones dear to her, "I am sorry for all the trouble, Mark. You're right. I should leave everything to fate now." Her voice was hoarse from all the crying but she smiled nonetheless. "There it is! The beautiful smile I mentioned earlier. I know you can do it. Come on now! Get ready, we are going to have fun today. I'll be waiting for you downstairs." He squeazed her shoulder with a reassuring smile.

"Where are we going, Mark?" Sera asked as they were seated in Mark's car, going Mark-knows-where. "I am suddenly craving for Ice cream, let's go to Baskin Robins shall we?" Sera scoffed, she was amused by the fact that he thought she wouldn't figure out the not so secret reason behind his cravings, "Oh really? Suddenly craving for ice cream? I know you very well, Mark. You just need an excuse to meet Rose." Mark was all flustered and Sera just had to laugh at him because ,oh well, that's what real friends do, laugh at your poor state. "Stop it, Sera. I really wanted to have ice cream, plus I have heard that ice creams heal a girl's broken heart. I can actually hear your little heart screaming 'I want ice cream Mark' yup that's why." Mark defended himself with a not so convincing reason. "Suuuuure and I can certainly hear your heart screaming 'I want to see Rose' yup exactly." They laughed at their randomness but that's what Sera liked the most about their friendship. They could go on and on talking about random stuff and never get bored. The said reason made their friendship a whole lot special.

The ice cream shop was packed as usual. Mark and Sera made their way towards the counter and  she swears she could see almost all her friends's teeth, if that was even possible, because he was smiling so widely, he looked so excited to meet Rose which was quite evident by the glimmer in his eyes. Atleast someone is happy she thought to herself.
"Rose! Over here!" Mark looked like he was going to jump across the counter to hug his dear girlfriend. "Mark! You didn't tell me you would be coming. Omg Sera, you are here too!" She came from  behind the counter and pulled Sera into a hug, "It's been a while, Sera. How have you been?" Sera smiled and hugged her back, "I am doing fine. You tell?"
"I am all good! Oh god, I am so sorry. I should be taking your orders. Hold on a second." 
"I didn't get my hug though." Mark complained with a pout.
"Shut up, Mark."
"But-"
"So which flavour do you want, Sera?" Rose ignored him as if he wasn't there whining like a grown up baby. Sera smiled at their childishness, they looked so adorable together that she couldn't help but envy their relationship. "Chocolate chip for me please." She said with a smile.
"Give me a minute!" Rose took two cups and put two scoops in each, "Here, chocolate chip for Sera and Coffee candy for this idiot boyfriend of mine."
"Ouch, that hurt." Mark faked a sob making both the girls laugh at him. "So tell me, how are things going with Baekhyun?" Just hearing his name had her heart beating at a rapid pace. "He finally asked Yura to be his prom date. I am happy that she accepted or I would have to deal with an emotional Baekhyun." she laughed awkwardly but she couldn't fool Rose. Even though it has been a couple of months since they met, she knew Sera well, well enough to know that she was trying to hide her broken self. Rose pulled her into a hug and softly pat her back, "He is an idiot for not realising how precious you are, that idiot eyeliner princess. Tch." Sera laughed softly, now she knew why Rose and Mark were together despite their different personalities.
"So tell me, what did you decide for the prom?" 
"I don't really feel like going, plus I don't have any partner. It would be awkward if I go alone." Sera said dejectedly.
"Your partner is right here, princess" Mark put an arm around her shoulders. "No, Mark. I don't want to spoil a couple's date. I'll be fine at home." Sera reasoned
"No, you won't spoil our date, rather it would be fun with just the three of us."
"But-"
"No buts Sera! Mark is right. We can't leave your lonely soul at home to drown in tears. You're coming with us and thats final, do you get it?" Rose asked in a commanding voice.
"Fine, but then don't blame me when I don't let you guys be mushy mushy with each other." Sera agreed. She knew it will hurt to see Baekhyun with another girl and would take all her might to smile infront of everyone but she had to face it somehow so why not now.

Sera woke up with the sound of someone knocking at her door. Monday rolled in sooner than she thought, her mind was still messed up with the thoughts of Baekhyun. She had decided to avoid him today but maybe the luck was not on her side when she opened her bedroom's door to reveal Baekhyun, looking at her with his puppy eyes. "Sera! Where have you been this whole weekend? You didn't receive my calls and when I came to look for you, you weren't at home either. Are you okay?" Sera stared at him blankly before replying with a brief "I am okay."
"Yeah ok, I see you are fine but atleast tell me why didn't you receive my calls?"
"I was busy, Baekhyun. I have a biology report due on tuesday so Mark and I were working on it." With that said, she turned back to her room.  Well it was half true, she did have an assignment due on tuesday, which she hasn't even touched yet but Baekhyun doesn't need to know that. 
"Mark? That guy with weird hair who is in most of your classes?" Baekhyun asked as he stepped in behind her.
"He is my friend, Baekhyun and I like his hair, mind you." Sera rolled her eyes before stepping into the washroom. 
Baekhyun was confused at Sera's behaviour, she didn't talk on their way to school, which was really weird because there was never silence when they were together. He tried to spike up a conversation but she would reply with a brief 'hm' or 'I don't know'. He shooked off the thought, thinking that maybe she was just having a bad morning but boy was he wrong. Sera didn't even spare him a glance when he waved at her while passing through the corridors and didn't have lunch with him either. When he asked her, she shooked him off saying that she was busy working on her report with Mark, why was she hanging out so much with him anyway? He tried to convince himself that she'll be all good after she is done with her work because that's how she is, panic stricken and worried unless she is done with the task.

Sera was seated at Mark's place preparing for the Biology assignment which was due tomorrow. They have been working nonstop for the past three hours, going through different books and websites, trying their best to prepare a report on Central dogma. Sera was close to ripping off her hair in frustration because she couldn't process anything about  transcription. She finally gave up and groaned, "Tired already?" 
Mark peeped his head out from the stacks of books. "Don't worry, we are almost done. Let's take a short break, hm? I'll go make coffee." Sera nodded with a sigh. She stretched her limbs and was about to get up when she heard her phone ringing, Baekhyun was calling her...again.
"What is it, Baek?"
"Yo, Sera. What's up? "
"Almost done with report. You tell,  why did yo-" 
"Hot or cold coffee, Princess?!" Mark called from the kitchen. Sera chuckled before replying, "Cold, please!"
"You are with him again? " She could almost see him frown on the other line.
"We are project partners, Baek, so we have to finish it together. Why did you call again?"
"Oh nothing. I thought we could hang out but guess you are busy."
"Maybe next time ok? I gotta go. Talk to you later. Bye"
"yeah ok. Bye." Sera could hear disappointment in his voice. She felt bad, but she needed some time.
"What did he say?" Mark asked, placing the cup on the table.
"Nothing. He just wanted to hang out. I don't know why though, two days left before prom, I wonder if he is done with the preparations."
There she was again, thinking about the confession. 
"Don't think about it, princess. Let's get this done, alright?"
Mark said with a smile. She looked around at the pile of work, "Let's get this over with, really. I need sleep too." She huffed before continuing with the work.
