❝place/ time markers❞
I have mentioned the place and time markers in the previous chapter right? so here's a simple discussion about it.
에서 is only used
(a) with action verbs to indicate where the action is happening.
example:
친구가 학교에서 기다립니다. My friend is waiting at school. (Friend school-at waiting.) [Chingu-ga hakkyo-eseo gidaribnida](a) to indicate point of departure
example:
어디에서 오셨습니까? Where are you from? (Where-from came?) [eogi-eseo osyeosseubnika?]
에게서 (egeseo)and 한테서 (hanteseo) are like their counterparts 에게 (ege) and 한테 but instead of (hante) indicating an action done for a person/animal, they point out actions that came from the person/animal.
example:
삼촌에게서 용돈을 받았어. I got some money from my uncle. (Uncle-from mon
