Flexibility

Life hacks, tips and tricks.

Hello, beauties.

Today I'd like to talk to you about flexibility.

Flexibility, believe it or not, is actually a very important part of being healthy. Being flexible to a certain level reduces risk of injuries while working out or playing sports. Being extremely flexible is also really cool.

I've learn a lot about flexibility from my best friend, who is a f(x) Victoria fanatic. Through progressive work she's reached the point of being able to do the front splits, I think she can do the needle and scorpio as well. I'm still quite new to flexibility training, so lets take on this journey together!

I'd like you to, first off, go slow. Do not strain yourself too much. We know that strain brings improvement, but if you strain too much you'll get injured and postpone any success that you could have achieved easily if you went slower.

As stated on livestrong.com, your body's muscles can be divided into 8 groups: shoulders, arms, chest, abdomen, back, , thighs and calves.

Shoulders:

For simple, healthy flexibility I'd recommed arm swings (left to right) and arm rotations (back and forth).

Arms:

- triceps stretch [x]

- biceps stretch [x]

- upwards stretch [x]

Chest:

Very nicely explained on wikihow.com [x]

For the rest I'd recommend this Dynamic Flexibility Program, from the Princeton Uni. [x]

Yoga is also very good for someone a little more advanced, as some forms can be quite tricky.

As an afterthought I'd like to add that you should always be careful while stretching, because a wrong form can lead to injury and deformation if you constantly repeat it. Also always stretch after workouts because your muscles are pulled tight after e.g. running or lifting weights.

If you'd like more information on specific stretches, please tell me so in the comments below.

Also, if you'd like to know more about a topic, but can't find what you're looking for, tell me and I'll try to help you find your answers. As always I am in no way a professional, just someone who's trying to help.

Yours sincerely,

Baozi.
