Chapter 3

The Things That I Hear

The Past - One Week Later

I was sleeping again.

The workload was too much and I got stressed but it was a good thing because I had the night shift.

I could sleep the whole day without interruption.

I could hear them fighting again.

The fights weren't anything important or anything, it was just petty arguments such as what dress they should wear or what to eat.

Yoona was the one that messed up this time.

She said I don't care.

Never say 'I don't care' in a relationship.

You will 'die'.

Remember that.

I awoke to Yuri's sobbing.

She was on my bed hugging me as she weeped.

I turn around and hugged her back.

"Jessica. Why is my our relationship so messed up?"

They were actually the perfect couple.

They just needed to communicate right.

"You just need to talk things out. Don't get angry and just understand why she's saying what she says"

I wasn't a love doctor but that was the best that I could do.

I've never dated or liked anyone before but from watching too many movies with crying friends that had been dumped, I understand what to do now.

They were Yoona and Yuri, the crying friends.
They didn't see that the perfect one was right in front of them.

I thought they were going to last but they keep fighting.

They need to fix that.

I was at the hospital again, suturing up some wounds.

I was talking to Yuri as I did it.

She had a day off at the law firm and she wanted to talk to me.

"Does Yoona visit you often?" she asked.

"We sometimes talk in the break room. But since we live in different departments, we don't really meet up except for a late night snack." I answered.

"Ahhh" she understood.

"Why did you want to talk to me? Did you just want to spy on Yoona?" I asked.

"What are you talking about?!" she said exasperated.

"I'm just kidding" I smiled at her.

I finished up suturing the wound and stood up.

"You can go home now" I said to the man.

I put my tools down on the table and got myself a cup of water while Yuri followed behind. She seemed really observant of the hospital. It seemed like this was her first visit here.

I think she's just trying to find Yoona.

"You're not going to find Yoona on this floor. She's downstairs doing an autopsy"

"Are you serious?!"

"So you were looking for her weren't you!?" I teased.

"Shut up." she said as she slapped me playfully.

"It's getting close to midnight. Do you want to go to the break room? She's probably there." I offered.

I wanted them to reconcile. It's been too quiet at the apartment lately.

"Uhh....Yeah sure if you want." Yuri said bashfully.

I smiled at her shyness.

"Don't be too shy Yuri. She's your girlfriend after all." I said as I walked towards the break room.

I could still see Yuri amazed by the amount of work put into this hospital. I was amazed too at first but you get used to it.

Yuri was just really curious. She liked experimenting....if you know what I mean.

"Yuri, it's that door up to the left. I have to find my supervisor and say I'm taking a break" I pointed to the break room.

"Ok."

I saw her walk into the break room and I waited for her reaction.

She was going to love it.

The Present

I smiled as I recalled the memory.

I helped Yoona buy the perfect roses.

Daffodils.

They meant forgiveness.

The next thing Yuri did wasn't so smart.

Let's just say Yoona ended up being in probation.

I smiled as I set her photo down while I picked up another one.

Tiffany.

I didn't like this woman.
