Demons Run chapter 1

Description

Being a bartender isn't as easy as it seems. You have to listen to people rant about their lives, and then deal with then once they are drunk. There are also bar fights and men. At least that was normal up until 15 years ago.

Fifteen  years ago, earthquakes and many other natural disasters nearly wiped out the human race. Demons had been hiding among the human race, and now they can roam freely. Humans make up only 2.5% of the population.

Yet, where am I in all of this? I am still just a bartender. I'm not just a regular bartender. I'm a demon bartender. The old living demon, that was created by Lucifer himself. I am the great demon, Cain.

Many demons walked around in their natural forms, but there are a few who choose to remain in their human form. In order to do that though, one must have human fluids. It doesn't have to be blood or saliva. Since so little humans are alive, most demons don't bother with it.

I, myself, enjoy being in human form and I can go up to 6 months without human fluids. Currently I'm 3 months in and quickly slipping back into my demon skin. The strong feeling for hate and a strong hunger for blood shed.

I shook my head, bringing myself back down to Earth. I had been cleaning beer glasses when I had completely spaced out. It was only 6 p.m, but soon enough the bar would be full with drunk demons.

As if right on cue, a group of 5 noisy demons walked in. One if them wandered over and ordered 5 beers. I pulled out the newly chilled glasses and filled them with the finest beer in the region. The guys each took their own and happily downed it.
the hour, music was booming and tons of demons were drunk on the floor. I groaned. I wiped down the counter, just as Laxus, my friend, punched another demon. Well . Tonight was gonna be a long night.

Everyone cheered as Laxus beat the out of the lower demon. I stepped out from behind the bar and cleared my throat. The riot continued on. Laxus bashed the demons head into a table, utterly destroying it. The lower demon managed to recover quickly and threw a punch at Laxus' jaw. A loud crack echoed through the room.

Laxus' nostrils flared in pure rage. I quickly approach the fight, this was getting out of hand. I breathed in and tightly pulled apart the asses.  As I breathed in, I caught a whiff of human scent. I nearly froze in place. Humans were so rare, it startled me.

The other demons had yet to smell the poor person. I threw the lower demon against the far wall. Laxus hissed me.

"Back down." I growled.

"I don't take orders from you, Cain." Laxus said from between his teeth. I roughly grabbed his red hair and raised my knee, bringing his head down on it. Blood gushed from his nose and his yellow eyes rolled into the back on his head.

All of the other demons loudly cheered. Even in my human form, I could defeat him.

My once beautifully spiked black hair, now flopped against my head.  I growled in frustration. I felt a surge of power as my demon powers fought for control. My eyes turned red and everyone gasped. Not only for the sight of my eyes, but also in the doorway stood a human.
