THE CONFUSED PAIR
Gam Hyeongja, Park "Luna" Sunyoung
Hyeongja walked through the halls with the biggest frown etched on her face, looking like it belonged there. Today was a bad day, and it had been the moment she stepped out of her bedroom door. Eating cereal with expired milk, wearing different pairs of socks and the highlight of the tiest event, soaking her precious notebook with Chinese tea. It did not stop there though, much to her dismay, as she locked herself behind the bathroom stall, only to find a lovely package from the previous visitor.
“Does this school even know the use of having a flush?” She snapped, grabbing a random freshman on the collar.
“Literally, in my face.” She spat out bitterly, making the innocent kid shiver in fear, looking up at her with wide, ingenuous eyes. She lets out a pathetic laugh, hands still clutching harshly on the pristine white collar.
It was only after some students walked in- and then ran out shouting, did she realize the poor freshman was sobbing, looking rather ugly with all that snot. Muttering an insincere apology under her breath, she shoved the poor kid away and dashed out of the (disgusting) washroom.
“Honja!” A cheery voice called, hugging the depressed figure from behind.
“I’ve missed you!” She whined, turning Hyeongja around to face her. As much as she wanted to fight the urge, she could not. A fond smile slowly made its way upon her lips, her previous troubles already put behind as she stared at the happy grin longer than intended.
“Hello?” She flailed her arms around rather childishly, begging for the President’s attention.
“Hm?” She blinked, clueless as ever.
“Didn’t you missed me at all?” She crossed her arms, failing miserably at looking even the slightest bit upset. Cute, she thought.
“Maybe,” she said, laughing when Sunyoung’s face fell. “Is missing you more than I miss up to Ms.Hwang good enough?”
As if she was already prepared for the impact, Hyeongja remained calm when Sunyoung lunged herself towards her, clinging rather uncomfortably for both parties (not that she minded at all).
It was no surprising view, the cold Class President laughing and goofing around with Park Sunyoung, and only Park Sunyoung. Some even wondered why, of all people, did the social butterfly choose Gam Hyeongja as her best friend . The ironic reality is that, even Hyeongja herself wonders why, but pushes such thoughts aside when the warmth of Sunyoung’s head rested upon her stiff shoulder, invading her nose with the beautiful scent of Park Sunyoung.
“Hey Luna, Oh Sehun is having this huge party tonight, heard it’s gonna be sick. You should totally join.”
“Tonight?”
Hyeongja feels eyes glancing in her direction, but chooses to focus on the book in her hands, instead.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to make it. Maybe another time, okay? Have fun though.”
Another rejection, Hyeongja thought bitterly as she overheard the conversation. She feels slightly pathetic when all of her classmates were invited, except for her, that is.
