Someday
One Way GoodbyeAs the bus comes to a stop, Yugyeom and Bambam get up from their seats and exchange friendly smiles. The thirty minutes spent together was more than enjoyable for both of them. Neither of them talked to strangers, but according to Yugyeom, 'That hyung looks too cute'. And according to Bambam, 'He looks important'. But both their thoughts ended with 'I should say hello to him'.
And when they did, small laughter filled the awkwardly quiet bus. Introductions were exchanged; The youngest of the two was named Yugyeom, while the Thai intern was nicknamed Bambam. He shyly refused to reveal his real name, stating it was difficult for others to pronounce, let alone, remember.
"Goodbye, Yugyeom-ah. It was a pleasure meeting you today."
"The pleasure was mine, Bambam. Goodbye, then. I hope we see each other again."
They waved goodbye before finally parting ways. The smiles on their faces hiding the mutual sadness they felt on the inside
A year passed.
It's never too late for love, right?
Yugyeom was hearing a lot of news about a young Thai novelist, Kunpimook. Just the fact that he was Thai and had a weird name reminded him an awful lot of the man he met the past year, Bambam. They never met after that one day, and it somehow hurt. Maybe it was Yugyeom's bad habit of becoming overly close with people, or the fact that he really got along with Bambam. Maybe he just wanted to see him again. Maybe.
He sat in his usual bus seat everyday in hopes of seeing the Thai intern again, but he never showed up. He probably has a car now. And he'd place his belongings in the seat next to his, Bambam's seat, and kept his eyes glued to the doors. Maybe he'll show up today?, he asked by routine. Nothing.
Monday morning, he couldn't take it anymore.
Kim Yugyeom remembered Bambam saying something about Journalism interning. That could only mean one thing: Bambam worked at the local paper. The building was twenty minutes away from the cafe Yugyeom worked at. How could I barely think of that now?!
The walk to the building was tiring, but he didn't mind. If it meant he had a chance to see Bambam again, he didn't mind the sweat-soaked shirt, disheveled hair, and dehydrated state he was in.
He stepped in confidently, with a friendly smile plastered on his face. The lady at the front desk asked where he'd come from, if he had an appointment with anyone. He only shook his head and asked for the cute Thai intern named Bambam.
"Bambam? Thai intern... Do you mean, Mr.Kunpimook Bhuwakul? He's...not here." Her confusion was replaced with sadness. A sadness Yugyeom didn't understand, not yet.
"What do you mean, 'not here' ? Where did he go? I'm confident he works here..." Yugyeom scratched the back of his neck, face full of confusion.
The lady could only point upwards, to where the sky would've been, if it weren't for the ceiling of the first floor. "H-He's gone... forever. I'm truly
