Ok here are the programs I use or would prefer to be used for trailers, because they are just awesome ^__^. Hope this helps! I will rate the programs from 1 to 10. 10 being the best.

Adobe After Effect is a great program to use, if you want to give your trailer extra. You want your trailer to have smooth animations and smooth text motions, then this program would work great for you!

Adobe Premiere

Adobe Premiere is just like any other program that could be used to edit videos. But Adobe being creative added more settings to make your trailer easy to make and having many ways to make it. So it won`t be disappointing, you will be impressed by its different setting options it provides you with.

I would definitely recommend this program. You will have lots of fun playing around with it and you will love the outcome. ^__^

If you use windows then this program you will fall in love with. I love this program very much, the different setting it has and the many effects. This is great for making MV & trailers. Sadly there is not a version for mac. But if you do have windows, make sure to check it out. This is my second most favorite of all! ^__^
iMovie
{Mac Only}

iMovie is a good program for mac users, its fast and a trailer can be made with in seconds and the outcome will be better than expected. The only problem I have with this is that the heap zone doesn't let you export your file. All the work you did and you make a great trailer, but you can`t export it. So I wouldn`t highly recommend this, but if you would like try it, be my guest ^__^ {If you have too much problem with the heap zone, let me know I have a solution for that!}
Windows Movie Maker
{Windows Only}

*Fun to play around with. *Export doesn't take long.

I know this is a old program, but for trailers it does come in handy. Fast editing techniques. Quick export. But it doesn't have many effects to offer or transitions. I used to use this before all the other programs came out and it worked for me so it might work out for you too. Still check it out! ^__^

This is my most favorite. I just love it. The settings are orderly provided for you. There are many effects and many transitions. Not only that it has many mortgages {ways to move your videos around}. The export doesn`t take long, but that depends on what quality you want to export it in. If you want 1080 then it will take time but your trailer will be in HD, less than that only take a minute or two. Great for mini dramas, trailers, MV, or anything else you can think of! You will have to check it out to believe how awesome it is! ^__^
