“Do you remember that one time we let Tae paint while we were in that meeting and he ended up getting the paint all over the room?” Kibum asked his husband.

“How could I not?” Jonghyun asked laughing at the memory . “I think that was the first time you ever grounded him.”

“I know,” Kibum sighed. “It killed me to ground him too. I remember his little voice saying ‘I’m sorry, daddy. Taeminnie is sorry.’ It broke my heart.”

“You know,” Jonghyun leaned over to kiss his husband. “Sometimes I think you love him more than you love me.”

“He’s my son.” Kibum laughed. “Of course I love him. You know how hard it was for us to have him.”

“Yes, I remember it too well.”

“He’s my baby. My only baby.” Kibum pointed out. “I fully intend on spoiling him.”

Just as the words left Kibum’s mouth, a loud knock echoed through their bedroom. The knock became more persistent and turned into pounding the longer it took for Jonghyun to get to the door. As soon as Jonghyun opened the door, two palace servants burst into the room.

“Your highness!” A servant named Yesung exclaimed in a fearful manner as he bowed in respect.

“Hello, Yesung.” Jonghyun greeted Yesung, utterly confused.  

“Your highness, I am so sorry to pester you.” The other servant, Kangin apologized.

“It’s quite alright,” Jonghyun assured them goodnaturedly. “What is all the commotion for?”

“Um..well…” Yesung fidgeted nervously.

“It appears that Prince Taemin has gone missing.” Kangin said in a quiet voice.

“I’m sorry, I think I heard you wrong.” Jonghyun blinked letting out a nervous laugh. “I think I heard you say that my son has gone missing.”

“WHAT?!” Kibum practically screamed from the bed after hearing Jonghyun. Within seconds, he appeared by Jonghyun’s side. “MY BABY IS GONE?!”

“Your highness,” Both servants said and bowed before Kangin continued.

“Palace security saw the prince leaving the palace grounds and tried to chase after him but he was too fast and they lost him. The guards reported that they saw the cages that Land Demons use to try to capture merfolk with. We fear he may have been captured.”

“No.” Kibum whispered before collapsing into his husband’s arms. “Not my baby. NO!”

“I can’t believe this,” Jonghyun said. “He’s never even shown interest in leaving the palace before.”

“He rarely leaves my side.” Kibum whispered. “It took us years to convince him I’d always come back. He still whines from time from time.”

“He appeared to be very upset, your highness.” Yesung added trying to offer some sort of explanation for the prince’s out of character actions.

“Find him.” Kibum said weakly. “Put up posters around the village, make a mass announcement, ask for search volunteers. I don’t care what you do, just bring my baby back. I need my baby.”

“Yes your highness!” Yesung and Kangin announced before bowing and leaving the room hastily.

Confusion. Fear. Anger. Those were the emotions that rushed through Taemin as he woke up. He opened his eyes slowly. Swishing his tail back and forth to make sure it wasn’t harmed, he felt his fins brush against glass. Suddenly, realization flushed over Taemin as he spring up, only to hit his head on more glass.

“Look! He’s awake!” Someone shouted. Taemin turned himself around to face the voice and came face-to-face with a group of boys about his age. ‘These boys look awful funny’ Taemin mentally noted. He took in their appearances quickly. There were four of them, varying in height, hair color, and they were wearing some sort cloth over their bodies. True to the stories, they were tailless and had no fins further adding to their funny appearances. They weren’t ugly per se but they did look terribly weird to Taemin. Without warning, a blond boy let out a loud laugh.

“He looks confused!” The blond boy stated.

“Of course he’s confused! He was just captured from his home and is now in a small tank. I would too if I was him.” A brown haired boy said. Taemin noted that he reminded him of a picture his mother showed him of a land animal called a rabbit.

“What are we going to do?” A green haired boy asked.

“Hell if I know? Kevin, you caught him, what are we going to do?” A pink haired boy. ‘What is with their hair?’ Taemin thought to himself.

“Um,” The blond boy said. Taemin assumed this was ‘Kevin’. “Hey Onew, does your friend still have that pool his family never uses?”

“Uh, I think so. Why?” The rabbit boy responded.

“Think we could borrow it for a little while?” Kevin asked.

“I can ask.” Onew said, pulling out some rectangular object out of his funny looking cloth. ‘This is some strange magic they can do. Summoning stuff out of their appendages.’ Taemin thought.

Onew touched the mysterious object  a few times before putting it up to his ears. After a moment he began talking.

“Hey, you!” Onew smiled as he talked into the strange box thing.

“What do you want, Jinki?” Taemin’s keen hearing picked up a new voice. Taemin looked around, searching for the owner of the voice. ‘Where is the voice coming from? Who is Jinki?’ Taemin thought.

“I’m great thank you.” Onew said somewhat sarcastically. “Hey I got a question.”

“Okay…” The mystery voice said, skeptically.

“Do me a favor and not ask questions and agree to what I’m asking.” Onew said. Taemin began to realize the mysterious voice was coming out of the funny white rectangle.

“What the hell do you want?”

“Could I borrow your pool for a while?”

“Why?”

“I told you not to ask questions and say ‘yes’.” Onew pushed.

“Alright, fine. But you better not be up to something.” The voice said.

“Thanks! I owe you one!” Onew said, smiling.

“You always ‘owe me one’, Jinki.”

“Love you, too.” Onew laughed. “See you soon, Minho.

Annnddd the ball gets rolling! So now we know who JongKey are. Who thought that they were going to be Taemin's parents (E/N: Not me. That threw me for a loop.)? The whole mother-father-son relationship will be explained in the next few upcoming chapters. I don't really have much to say other than that really. I'm shocked that we're already getting upvotes!
