Bad Grades

The Second Hand Kiss
The next day, I woke up, washed up, and quickly put on my uniform.
"Chae Soo, come eat breakfast!" My mom lazily yelled.
I blew my bangs, and grabbed my backpack, walking out of my room.
I entered the kitchen, and looked at the table.
There was a bowl of porridge, with a cherry on top.
I smiled widely as I immediately sat down.
"Eat up." My mom said as she poured me some orange juice.
My mom may have been abusive, but she was still my mom.
My mom who works hard to keep me alive, healthy, and clean.
"Thanks mom." I said as I took a scoop out of my porridge, and began eating it.
"Did you sleep well last night?" She asked as she poured herself a cup of coffee, and poured whitener, and sugar in it, and mixed it.
"Yes, I worked really hard last night, so I'll probably ace my test." I said as I devoured each scoop of my breakfast.
My mom looked at with with a death glare.
I knew I was going to get hit, so I quickly swallowed my food, and closed my eyes.
She roughly knocked my head, and crossed her arms.
"You should have studied harder! getting an 'A' is fine, but getting an 'A+' is the best, and you need the get the best grades in order to live a successful life." My mom lectured me.
She would always go on and and on about how being the best was important.
She knew my grades dropped, and she punished me every time my report card came in.
But there was nothing I could do.
It was entirely Hoon's fault that I have bad grades.
I opened my eyes and looked at my mom.
"Mom, I'll be doing a lot better in school now, so don't worry." I bowed.
My mom scoffed, and exited the room in an unbelieving way.
I quickly finished my food, and walked out the door, beginning to walk to the bus stop.
I blew my bangs out of my face, and sat down on the bench, waiting for the bus.
I took out my phone to check what time it was, and it was 8:20.
I have 10 minutes before my bus comes to the bus stop.
I rested my elbows on my knee's and sighed.
"What should I do to kill time?" I asked myself.
My eyes wandered the block I was on, and across the street, I saw a coffee shop.
"I should go buy a cup before my bus comes." I said as so stood up, put my backpack over my shoulder, and began walking towards the coffee shop.
As I entered, I quickly went to the front counter to order myself a cup of coffee.
"Hello, What would you like?" A male worker asked me.
He looked like he was in either College or University.
His hair was black, and side swept, and he has a devilish smile.
"Double double, whipped." I smiled.
He winked at me as he nodded.
I arched my eyebrow in confusion.
"Did he just wink at me?" I asked myself.
While he was making the coffee, he would glance back at me from time to time.
I puffed up my cheeks and looked down, at the pastry display.
"Oh! I should get a donut."
I said as I looked at a white glazed sparkled donut.
"Here you go, miss." The worker there said in a flirty voice.
I arched my brow again, and took my coffee.
"Oh, I'd like a donut with my coffee." I smiled.
"What kind?" He glanced at me.
"That one." I pointed at the sprinkled one.
He grabbed it, put it in a little bag, and handed it to me.
"Thank you!" I bowed, and grabbed my donut.
"Hey." He let out.
I looked at my hand, and realized he was holding my hand.
I quickly pulled my hand away.
"W-What is it?" I asked.
"Can you give me your phone number?" He said with dark eyes, and a wide smile.
I ruffled my bangs a bit, and looked down.
"J-Jo-Gee." I nervously let out.
"Hey, what's taking you so long?" Hoon out of nowhere appeared, and grabbed my arm.
I looked at him with wide eyes.
"We were in the middle of a conversation." The worker slammed his hands on top the counter.
"Yeah, with my girlfriend." Hoon scoffed as he dragged me with him out of the coffee shop.
I looked at his face, and his eyes were fired with jealousy, and his face looked red.
As we exited the coffee shop, Hoon let out an exhausted sigh.
"H-Hoon." I let out.
He turned, and faced me.
"Don't thank me." He smiled.
I was amazed of how his emotions could change so easily, but the thing that was bugging me was. 'Was he actually jealous?'
"Why did you do that?" I asked, beginning to bit my lip.
"I was trying to ignore you, but seeing that guy hitting on you irritated me." Hoon said.
I arched my eyebrow right away, and scoffed.
"Hoon, that guy wasn't hitting on me." I yelled, with an angry tone. "and you don't have to be concerned if he was."
Hoon stood there, speechless.
He looked frozen, like he couldn't believe I just yelled at him.
"I'll be leaving first, my bus is almost here." I said as I quickly walked across the street, and stood by the bus stop.

(Hoon's POV;)
As she left, I quickly panted, and tried to catch my breath.
"Did she just.. yell at me?" I asked myself.
I turned around, and stared at her as she waited for her bus.
This was probably the only time she has yelled at me, and stood up for herself.
I watched her as she got in the bus, and sat down.
A couple seconds passed, and the bus drove away.
I stood there, still shocked.
"I guess I should go to school too." I said as I ruffled my bangs, and began walking to my place to get my car.
As I got there, I quickly went into my car, and buckled my seatbelt.
My hands made their way to the radio to turn on some music.
I sighed in frustration as I ruffled my hair, and stared at my house.
"I didn't even have a chance to get myself some coffee." I said to myself.
"Hoon, you should've just left her alone, since she didn't even appreciate your help" I again, said to myself.

(Chae Soo's POV;)
I scoffed as I looked out the window.
"Who does he think he is?" I asked myself. "he can abuse me all he wants, but getting into my personal life is too much."
I curved my lip as I looked around in the bus.
It was nearly empty. Only a couple, and a few people my age were in the bus. Going to school as well I'm assuming.
I couldn't help myself, but to stare at the couple being cute together.
The girl was leaning on her boyfriend while they were holding hands. The atmosphere between them was like they were the only people in the world.
"I love you." She let out.
The guy looked at her, and smiled widely.
"I love you, too." He said as he leaned in and kissed her.
I felt a grin creep up my face, as I sighed and looked out the window.
The bus stopped, and it was parked a block from my school.
I stood up, grabbed my backpack, and quickly walked out.
I was walking quickly because my first class starts in a few minutes.
As I entered the building, the bell rang.
With wide eyes, I quickly ran as fast as I could to my first class.
Suddenly, I tripped on my shoelace, and my backpack went flying somewhere.
I sat up, only to realize I was bleeding.
"Aish, not again." I pouted to myself.
The fall was actually pretty hard, but I didn't really feel the pain because I was worried about being late for class.
I quickly went to the washroom to get some tissues, and wiped my bloody face.
Once I finished, I washed my hands and exited the washroom.
I looked for my backpack that flew off somewhere.
"Oh? Where did the thing fly off to?" I asked myself.
I looked at the stop where I fell, but my backpack was no where in sight.
"Ah! Seriously!" I exclaimed as I twirled my hair a little, in a nervous way.
Biting my lip, I stomped my way to my classroom, a little upset that I lost my backpack.
I slowly opened the door, and entered the classroom.
Quietly, I shut the door, and silently ran to my seat.
As I sat down, a rather loud sigh let out of my breath.
"Ah, Chae Soo." The teacher said as she came walking towards my desk.
"Y-yes?" I nervously let out.
"Here is your test." She said. "next time, come to class earlier, got it?"
I hunched down as I slowly nodded.
I straightened my position, and looked at my test paper.
"This doesn't look too hard! This is an open note test so I just need my-" I stopped as I looked behind my chair, only to find no backpack there.
"Oh yeah! I lost my backpack!" I sighed out of frustration as I began to bit my lip again.
I hunched down again as I stated at my test paper.
"I guess I'll answer the questions I remember." I said.
Suddenly, I felt a poke at the back of me.
Slowly, I looked back to see a girl looking annoyed.
"E-Eh, what is it?" I asked.
"Could you please stop talking to yourself? People are trying to work here!" She exclaimed.
"S-sorry." I bowed.
I exhaled slowly, and began doing my test.
A couple hours passed, and my first class was over.
I quickly signed my name on the top of my test, and stood up.
"I hope I do okay!" I said in my head.
I breathed in and out as I made my may to the teachers desk.
"I hope you did well." My teacher glanced at me as she took my test.
I nosed and bowed as I exited the classroom.
"Now, to find my backpack!" I exclaimed as I quickly went walking to the spot where I fell.
Suddenly, my phone went on.
I quickly took out my phone, and saw an unknown caller ID.
"Who could that be?" I asked myself.
I slowly answered..
*
Chae Soo: Hello?
Hoon: Do you want your backpack, back?
Chae Soo: W-wait, Hoon, is that you?
Hoon: Yes, now do you want your backpack?
Chae Soo: Hoon, I'm not in the mood to get beaten. Please give it back.
Hoon: Chae Soo, I'm not trying to hurt you.
Chae Soo: You're not?
Hoon: Yes.
Chae Soo: What do you want then?
Hoon: Just hang out with me today, and I'll give you your backpack. *
[End of Conversation]

I slowly hung up my phone, and looked down.
"Why does he want to hang out?" I asked myself.
I looked at the clock, and sighed in frustration.
"I guess I have no choice." I said to myself as I texted Hoon.
"Fine, I'll hang out with you; just give me back my backpack!" I texted.
I turned off my cellphone and put it in my pocket as I made my way to my next class.
Sighing, I stared at the class.
"I really need my backpack." I said to myself.
"Here you go." Someone said from behind me.
I jumped a little from being frightened, and quickly turned around.
There, I saw Hoon holding my backpack in his hands.
I quickly took it, and turned around to enter my classroom.
"Wait." Hoon let out.
"Eh?" I said turning around again.
"I'm looking forward to hanging out with you." He flashed me a smile.
I felt myself blush as he smiled.
This smile was different. It wasn't because he was injuring me. It wasn't because he had power. No, it was because he was excited to be spending time with me.
