Chapter 6: Weekends

 

Narrator:

It’s Saturday. _____ woke up and went downstairs.

 

‘Hey, mum. Breakfast?’ _____ asked

 

‘Oh, honey. It’s on the kitchen table.’ Mum said

 

‘Thanks.’ _____ said a she yawned

 

_____ POV

I went to the kitchen and looked for my breakfast.

 

‘There it is.’ I said ‘Eggs and bacon, huh? Oh, well.’

 

I sat down the table and ate my breakfast then took a shower. I went to my room, opened my closet and wore my purple top and my shorts. I went outside and rode my bike everywhere.

 

‘Hm. La, la, la.’ I said ‘Oh no! Shoot, I gotta get out of here.’

 

I was riding my bike then I saw Yesung riding his too. He looked at me; I turned my bike around and rode it home. He was following me, He’s catching up!

 

‘Oh, I need to go faster!’ I said

 

‘Annyeong. Hey you! _____? Look, we have to talk!’ He shouted

 

‘I- look. Just leave me alone! You’re distracting me; I might fall off my bike.’ I said

 

‘Look, I saw you with Kyuhyun yesterday!’ Yesung shouted

 

I stopped and looked at him.

 

‘So? What about it?’ I asked

 

‘Can we- Uh, I thought that you rejected me because of him. Is that true?’ He asked

 

‘No, he’s my friend. Actually, I saw Sungmin with your friends. Sungmin was bullying this kid and it made me cry. I- he never talks to me anymore. Then, Kyuhyun hugged me and he sang a song to me which was really sweet. No one has ever sung a song to me before.’ I said

 

‘Look, what can I do to make you mine?’ Yesung asked

 

‘Change. Change.’ I said

 

‘So, you want me to change?’ Yesung asked

 

‘Yeah.’ I said

 

‘So, what do you mean?’ Yesung asked

 

‘You know. Change like, be nice, caring and friendly.’ I said

 

 ‘Okay, is there another way?’ Yesung asked

 

‘I- I don’t know. Why? Is that too hard for you? Well, maybe there is one other way.’ I said

 

‘What is it?’ He asked

 

‘I don’t know if this is going to be easy or not. I want you to change Sungmin back. Make him nice, caring and friendly again!’ I said

 

‘Easy. So, if I change Sungmin back to being caring and all that. You’ll say yes to me? You know, you’ll be my girlfriend.’ Yesung asked

 

‘*Sighs, I have to do it. Fine, yes. Hm, you only have four days to do it, Monday to Thursday.’ I said

 

‘Sure.’ Yesung said

 

He winked at me. I nearly puked. He held my hands.

 

‘Let go.’ I said

 

‘Why?’ Yesung asked

 

‘Cause, I said so. Now let go of my hand!’ I said

 

He let go, I looked away and rode my bike home.

 

‘Hey _____. See yah at school, I’ll always think of you and I’ll wait...’ He said

 

‘You gotta stop saying that!’ I shouted

 

I’m back home. I opened the door and went up to my room. I opened my laptop and logged on to FriendBook, just like Facebook.

 

‘Oh, new request.’ I said ‘Yesung?! He added me? Haha, oh my.’

 

I accepted him as my friend on FriendBook; suddenly I started getting all these messages. It was from Yesung, it said...

 

“I’ll always think of you and I’ll wait.”

 

Yesung sent me fifty messages saying that. I wanted to relax, so I closed my laptop began to take a nap.

                    You’ll say yes to me? You know, you’ll be my girlfriend?

 

 

I couldn’t sleep; I kept hearing everything that Yesung said to me today.

 

‘Come on. I mean, I’m new and Yesung, the most rich and popular kid in school just asked me out! That never happened to me before. I use to have feelings for him but now, I don’t. Why can’t he just leave me alone?’ I said to myself as I stared at the ceiling

 

I yawned, I felt really tired. Finally, now I can get some sleep.

 

 

The next day...

 

____POV

I woke up early, about 7:38 in the morning. I kept having these dreams about Yesung. I went to the kitchen and ate cereal. I decided to go out for a jog. I put my pants on and walked straight outside.

 

I started jogging. I jogged around the street, it started getting cold. 

 

‘Burr! Damn, so cold!’ I said to myself

 

I kept jogging and saw Sungmin sitting on the bench. He looked at me like I was just a loser; I sat next to him and started talked to him.

 

‘Uh, hi.’ I said as I smiled

 

‘Hey.’ He said

 

 

‘So, who are you hanging out with now?’ I asked him

 

‘Eh, you know. Donghae, Eunhyuk and Leeteuk, my bros. So, what about you?’ Sungmin asked

 

‘Uh, well. Kyuhyun, the new kid.’ I said

 

‘Oh, that gee- dude?’ He asked

 

‘Yeah! He’s really nice.’ I said

 

‘Yeah... Uh, well. I gotta go.’ Sungmin said

 

‘Wait!’ I said

 

‘What?’ He asked

 

‘Okay, why did you stop hanging out with me and why are you bullying people?’ I asked him

 

‘Uh, um- Err, well. I really have to go.’ He said looking nervous

 

‘WAIT! I have one question, just one! Why did you change?’ I asked him

 

‘Look, I didn’t want to leave you. It’s just that, you know. It’s my first time hanging out with these people and it feels good being so popular! Then, I kind of forgot about you. I don’t want to be that geeky dude anymore, _____.’ Sungmin said

 

‘Oh, I- uh, see. I see. Well, it’s okay. Uh, well. I think that’s Donghae, right there. Uh, I’ll see you next time.’ I said as I walked away

 

‘Uh, wait! _____, wait!’ Sungmin said

 

I stopped walking and looked back at him.

 

‘What is it?’ I asked

 

‘Sorry. I’m sorry for everything. I- I thought that I was going to be a good friend of yours but, actually. I’m not. I’m so sorry _____. Uh, but we’re still friends right?’ He asked

 

‘Yeah. Yeah! We’re still friends.’ I said

 

He hugged me so tight and whispered to me. I smiled.

 

‘Sorry for everything. What about you come over my house on Wednesday?’ He whispered to my ears

 

‘Sure.’ I said

 

He smiled at me, I smiled back and then he walked away. I walked home and went to my room.

 

‘*Sighs what can I do? There’s nothing to do here and every time I go somewhere, Yesung is always there.’ I said

 

I sat down the bed. Suddenly I heard my dad shouting my name out loud. I searched for him, I saw him in the living room. I asked him what was wrong.

 

‘Dad, what’s wrong?!’ I asked

 

‘Guess what?’ Dad asked

 

‘What?’ I asked

 

‘Your cousin, Heechul and Jessica are moving here in Seoul! They decided to move in with us for about a month. I think. Well, they’re coming on Tuesday maybe on Wednesday. I’m not sure,’ Dad said

 

‘Oh my gosh! Dad, you serious?! Jessica is like the best cousin I have ever had! I really miss her. I can’t wait!’ I said looking so excited

 

‘Yeah. Well, Jessica is going to be sharing rooms with you.’ Dad said

 

‘I don’t care! Haha, I cannot wait.’ I said

 

‘Yes, Heechul will too.’ Dad said

 

‘You serious?’ I said looking confused

 

‘Yes.’ Dad said

 

‘Oh, well. Jessica can sleep with me on the bed while Heechul sleeps on the ground. Haha!’ I said as I laughed

 

‘Yes, funny. Well, mum is at work and there’s nothing to do here.’ Dad said

 

‘Yes, I know!’ I said

 

‘Do you want to go to the shops? I’ll buy you new stuff, anything as long as you need it.’ Dad asked

 

‘You are the best! Yeah, let’s go.’ I said

 

‘You’re not going to the shops with that on, are you?’ Dad asked

 

‘You bought me this! Ah, okay then. I’ll go and change.’ I said

 

‘I’ll be waiting.’ Dad said

 

‘Yeah, wait. You need to change too dad.’ I said

 

‘I knew you’d say that! Okay, I will.’ Dad said

 

Narrator:

_____ went to her room and wore her white and pink dress. She went to the living room and waited for her dad.

 

Her dad’s back.

 

‘*Sighs Oh. Oh my! Oh my- Dad? Is that you?! Why are wearing that?!’ ____ asked him looking so confused

 

‘There was this band called H.O.T and I thought that they dress pretty cool so I bought this.’ Dad said

 

‘Never mind. It’s okay.’ _____ said

 

‘You think? Okay, let’s go then.’ Dad said

 

_____ and her dad went inside the car. _____’s Dad started the car and drove it to the shops.

 

‘Dad? This is my first time going to a shop in Seoul and I just want to ask you if you know where you’re going.’ _____ said

 

‘Haha, trust me. I know where I’m going!’ Dad said

 

‘Oh, sure.’ _____ said

 

‘Oh look. We’re here!’ Dad said

 

‘Is it the blue building?’ _____ asked

 

‘Yes, yes, yes.’ Dad said

 

‘Wow, pretty! This is much better than the ones in Australia. So much better!’ _____ said

 

_____’s Dad parked the car and then they went inside.

 

‘Pretty isn’t it?’ Dad asked

 

‘Yeah.’ _____ said ‘Hey dad! Can we go there? Korean Fashion? Get me something please?’ _____ begged

 

‘Sure!’ Dad said

 

_____’s POV

Dad and I went inside. I saw lots of clothes that I really liked! I wanted to buy all of them.

 

‘Hey dad! Right here, this looks cool.’ I said

 

‘Yes, it does. Try it on, go to the fitting room.’ Dad said

 

I went to the fitting room and tried it on, I looked at myself in the mirror and I saw one beautiful looking person.

 

‘Is that me? Of course it is!’ I said

 

I walked outside and showed it to my dad. He smiled.

 

‘_____, you look pretty! Oh my. We’ll buy that! Is that it?’ Dad asked

 

‘Yeah. I think one is enough.’ I said

 

Dad walked up to the counter and paid for it while I waited for him outside. I was looking around then I saw him. HIM. Yesung!

 

‘I seriously gotta hide!’ I said to myself ‘Everywhere I go, he’s always there. Creepy and weird at the same time!’

 

Dad’s back.

 

‘Yes. Dad, quick! Let’s go.’ I said

 

‘Wait. _____, is that your friend? That guy that came over our house?’ Asked dad

 

‘Who? Where?’ I asked pretending that I don’t know such a thing

 

‘Oh, come here.’ Dad said

 

He carried me. It was embarrassing! He carried me straight to Yesung.

 

‘Oh no.’ I said

 

He placed me down and said hi to Yesung.

 

‘Annyeong.’ Dad said to him

 

‘Annyeong, Mr. _____. Annyeong _____.’ Yesung said

 

‘Hello.’ I said

 

‘Hey, you guys can hang out for a little while I go buy some eumsig (food)’ Dad said

 

‘Dad! No, no, no! Dad, no! Don’t leave me with him. Dad, I’m coming.’ I said

 

‘I’m okay. You guys have fun.’ Dad said as he left

 

‘Oh no.’ I said

 

‘It’s okay.’ Yesung said

 

‘Oh.’ I said

 

Dad left me with him. What are we suppose to now?

 

‘Hi.’ I said as I waved

 

‘Annyeong.’ He said

 

‘Look, we have nothing to do. So, I think I’m going to go and look for my dad.’ I said

 

‘Ani! Ah. We actually have something to do, we can go walk around. I’ll buy you a milkshake if you want to.’ Yesung said

 

‘No. It’s okay.’ I said

 

‘Come on.’ He said as he held my hand

 

He held my hand, we walked straight to this Milkshake shop.

 

‘You want something? What flavour?’ He asked

 

‘Oh, no, no. It’s fine. I’m okay.’ I said

 

‘_____, it’s okay. Come on.’ Yesung said

 

‘Just choose any. I’ll drink whatever you give me.’ I said

 

‘Oh, okay.’ He said

 

I sat down the chair and waited for him.

 

A minute later...

 

‘Here you go. Vanilla and caramel milkshake.’ Yesung said

 

‘Hey, how’d you know?! I love Vanilla and caramel! Oh my, awesome. Uh, kamsa hamnida. Well, what about you?’ I asked

 

‘Uh, they’re still- Oh, it’s here. Kamsa Hamnida!’ He said to the girl

 

He handed the milkshake to me, we both sat down the chair. I drank my milkshake and looked around.

 

I heard music. Loud music.

 

‘Hey, what’s that noise?’ I asked

 

‘Oh, I don’t know.’ Yesung said

 

Suddenly a lady came and asked us something.

 

‘Annyeong! Would you like a picture?’ The lady asked

 

‘Uh, what for?’ I asked

 

‘Every time we see a couple doing sweet stuff together, we take a picture of them and give it to them.’ The lady said

 

‘How much?’ Yesung asked

 

‘What the-?!’ I asked looking so confused

 

‘It’s free. We do it to make visitors happy.’ The lady said

 

‘Uh, sorry. We actually are not a coup-‘ I said as Yesung interrupted me

 

‘Yes. Sure, to make VISITORS happy.’ Yesung said

 

‘Ah, whatever he said.’ I said

 

‘Good! Uh, to make it even more romantic. You, uh. Put your arms around her.’ The lady said as she pointed to Yesung

 

‘Sure.’ He said as he put his arms around me

 

‘Okay, you. Pretend that you’re drinking your milkshake.’ The lady said to me.

 

Yesung put his arms around me. I pretended that I was drinking my milkshake. She took the picture and gave it to me and another one to Yesung.

 

‘Uh, I’ll be going. See yah and hope that you like the picture.’ The lady said

 

‘Wow, okay. So, you have a picture of me and you. Ah, and being romantic together. I also have a picture of me and you being- yeah.’ I said

 

‘Yeah. Pretty cool.’ Yesung said

 

‘Uh, you can take your arms off my shoulders now. Haha.’ I said as I looked my eyes

 

‘Oh, uh- Sure, sorry about that. Haha, my bad.’ He said

 

‘It’s okay.’ I said

 

‘Do you want to go somewhere?’ Yesung asked me

 

‘Oh, thanks but I’m okay.’ I said

 

‘No, I mean. I want you to have fun.’ Yesung said

 

‘Oh, uh. Thanks.’ I said

 

‘Do you want to go outside and walk around?’ Yesung asked

 

‘Oh, I’m okay.’ I said

 

‘Hey, I feel like going to that new shop here. Do you want to come?’ Yesung asked

 

‘Well, you can just go without me. I’ll wait for you!’ I said

 

‘But, what if something wrong happens to you?’ He said

 

‘Look, go! I’m gonna be fine.’ I said

 

‘You sure? Okay, then. I’ll be back in about five minutes.’ He said

 

‘Sure. Take your time.’ I said

 

He left. I was there, drinking my milkshake.

 

I looked around.

 

Five minutes has passed.

 

He’s back.

 

He walked straight to me and smiled.

 

‘Hey.’ He said as he winked

 

‘Hi.’ I said

 

‘This is for you.’ He said

 

He gave me a bracelet. It was purple, black and red. It had my name on it.

 

‘Uh, thanks. I really like it. It’s pretty!’ I said

 

‘You’re welcome. Oh, I saw your dad outside.’ Yesung said

 

‘He’s probably waiting for me.’ I said

 

‘Oh. You can go now.  Don’t want to keep your dad waiting. See yah tomorrow at school.’ He said as he smiled

 

‘Ah, you too.’ I said

 

‘Oh and don’t worry, I’ll change Sungmin back to being nice and all that and it’ll work. Trust me.’ Yesung said

 

‘Ah, you do that. Start tomorrow. I’ll be going now. Bye.’ I said

 

I left and looked for dad.

 

There he is.

 

‘Dad! Come on, let’s go home.’ I said

 

Dad and I went inside the car. He started the car and drove it home.

 

And I said to myself...

 

‘Yesung only has three days to change Sungmin back. If he does then... I’m going to be his- I don’t even want to say it. Am I going to be his girlfriend or not?’ I asked myself looking so nervous
