minseok is leaning against the wall as he sits on his bed with an open textbook on mechanisms. he looks up at no where in particular to recite a formula when a pair of shapely legs fall into his line of vision. he grumbles.

“luhan.” the legs disappear and a few seconds later, luhan’s face appears, followed by the falling of her reddish brown hair. and wow, even upside down, it still frames nicely around her, wait--

“yeah, minseok? what? are you done studying now?”

“no.” he scoots off the bed (minseok sleeps on the bottom bunk), holding his textbook open and sits at his desk. he hears luhan make a small whiny noise. without turning around, minseok says loudly, “can you not sit on the top bunk? just lie down on my bed.”

“why? i like it up here. nobody sleeps up here anyways. why did you get a bunk bed again?”

“because it was free. plus, i was expecting a roommate remember, but he bailed out last minute. figures, he was only a second year i think.”

“oh yeah... well, nevertheless, i like it up here. i can see everything from here. yoooo minseo-- ow!”

“the ceiling is low here dummy.”

luhan rubs the sore spot on the top of her head. “okay, maybe that was a sign. i’m getting down now.” minseok turns around, on instinct he supposes, because what if luhan falls off? he can’t help settling his gaze on the way the hem of luhan’s dress rises just that much over her upper thighs and there’s luhan’s eyes and oh , he just got caught looking. minseok immediately turns back to his textbook. he hears the familiar thump of luhan’s feet hitting the floor and he’s starting to get chills down his back, hoping that she won’t get near him.

“i’m gonna go look for something to eat then. tell me when you’re done studying.” he hears her say and the door makes a slight squeak as she opens it and she’s finally out of the room. minseok lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in.

a few hours later, minseok emerges from his room, arms outstretched as he gets the kinks out of his sides. he walks down the hallway to hear that the tv is on.

“luhan, did you already ea-- oh?” minseok gently smiles at the sleeping luhan. she’s taken over the entirety of the couch, even if it is a three-seater. minseok goes to his side closet and grabs a spare blanket, draping it over luhan. she stirs a little before grabbing a fistful of the soft material and tucking it under her chin. minseok makes sure to not make a sound as he tries to lighten his steps to the kitchen.

he thinks twice before opening the fridge... it makes that weird suction noise. i guess no cold food... he looks at the pantry. he opens it slowly and of course, it makes a creaky noise. he groans and turns to see that luhan is still fast asleep. minseok grabs the box of animal crackers then attempts to close the pantry door with as little noise as possible.

"what are you doing?"

"OH ! ! LUHAN!" luhan takes a second to assess the situation and taking into account the fact that minseok probably jumped five feet away because he was scared, this leaves luhan with only one thing to do, which is to laugh her off. minseok is too busy trying to calm his heart and catch his breath to see that luhan is on the floor, pointing and laughing at him.

"i scared you sooooo good!" she says between laughs.

"shut up! you did not-- i was trying to keep quiet to let you sleep and this is how you repay me?" he goes to pick up his dropped box of crackers. luhan picks herself up off the floor and wipes a tear of mirth from her eye.

"okay, i'm sorry. i didn't even mean to sleep that long." she steps towards him and holds out her hand. minseok knows to put some crackers there.

"so, are you done studying now?"

"yes and no. i still have a lot to go over. just taking a break now." minseok stuffs some crackers into his mouth.

"study break? let's go to the fields and play some ball."

minseok raises a brow. "soccer? right now?"

luhan nods. "right now."

minseok knows he doesn't have a choice when luhan has that sparkle in her eye. "you're not even dressed properly." minseok eyes luhan up and down then stops, suddenly remembering his thoughts about her dress from earlier.

"i can just borrow your basketball shorts and one of your old t-shirts. and..." she walks out of the kitchen and in less than a minute returns with her neon purple athletic soccer cleats.

"tada! see? got my shoes too!"

"wait-- when did you-- how long have those been here?!"

"since, like, last summer. i knew you wouldn't mind."

"i remember... i told you many times before to take them with you."

"yeah, and i never did. guess you just got tired of telling me when i wasn't gonna do it anyways."

minseok sighs and crosses his arms. "what am i gonna do with you?"

"you're gonna lend me some clothes and you'll change so we can go play already!" luhan grabs minseok's arms and turns him around so she could push against his back, leading him towards his room.

"let me get this straight. you want to come over to my apartment so you and yixing can study?" baek is holding his phone in one hand as he holds his fridge door open in the other.

"he's actually just helping me with my chinese language class."

"uh-huh... and why can't he go over to your place?"

"becauuuse, my other roommate is studying abroad right now and the other is working all day and i don't exactly have their permission to invite him over.."

"hold up. do you just not want to be alone with him?" baekhyun's sly tone means he's known her intentions all along. he hears a sigh over the phone.

"no. i don't, alright? i just know i'm gonna freak out. happy? so, can i tell him that it's okay to study at your place?"

baekhyun can't help but laugh at jongdae's stubbornness. he thought it was cute. "of course! mi casa es su casa and all that jazz, right?"

"you're weird. thanks. see you later." the call ends with jongdae's punctuated sentences.

an hour later, jongdae arrives at baekhyun's front door. "well, don't you look nice?" baekhyun comments as jongdae toes off her flats. jongdae is wearing a black romper over some black stockings topped with a pretty maroon cardigan. she gives him her fakest smile then goes to claim the dining table by slamming her notebooks on top.

"wow, is all of this for your chinese class?"

"hmm.. no. i just brought my other stuff to study before yixing gets here." she goes to pull her laptop out of her backpack.

"when is he getting here?" baekhyun asks and she checks her phone for the time.

"maybe, like, 20, 30 minutes? he has class right now."

"cool. well, i'll make us something to eat."

"'kay~" jongdae drones as she is already scrolling her twitter feed. baekhyun frowns as he looks over her shoulder.

"that doesn't look like your lecture notes."

"hey, can you mind your own busin--" jongdae is interrupted by quick knocks on baekhyun's door. baekhyun moves towards it to look through the peephole.

"omo. it's yixing."

"what did you say?!" jongdae rushes up next to baekhyun, pushing him out of the way so she could get a look through the peephole. and lo and behold, it is zhang yixing on the other side.

"... .." she scurries back to her chair.

"uh.. so i'm gonna let him in, okay?"

"wait.. uh--, just.. uh.." jongdae runs her hands through her medium-length hair and tries to tie it up in a ponytail.

"does this look dumb?" she frowns and wow, baekhyun has never seen jongdae so out-of-sorts with herself.

"you look fine. leave your hair down." she takes a breath and pats down her hair, tossing one side over her shoulder.

"okay.. are you gonna let him in or not?" jongdae asks. baekhyun rolls his eyes and turns the knob and opens the door. a smile adorns the face of yixing, along with his famous dimple, as baekhyun greets him.

"hey baekhyun! is jongdae here?"

"yup. over at the table. come on in."

"cool. i'm just helping her out with her chinese language class." yixing explains as he takes off his shoes.

"oh hey, jongdae!" he greets her and jongdae stands up to say hi back, immediately feeling like a fool, so she sits back down. yixing takes the seat next to her, making jongdae sit up that much straighter.

"i, uh, thought you wouldn't be coming til later." jongdae asks yixing as he is getting his papers and pens out.

"oh, yeah. my class let out early today. that's okay, right? i thought starting earlier would be best."

"oh, yeah! of course!" jongdae grabs her workbook, opening it up to the assigned pages. "so, here is where i'm having trouble pronouncing some of the words." jongdae adjusts the workbook in between them and points to the words, biting her lip.

"okay, i can help with that." baekhyun stays in the kitchen, making some grilled cheese sandwiches, listening in on jongdae's and yixing's study session.
