A Million Grains of Sand
Description
People always say that you cannot count the grains of sand on the beaches of earth. Foolish they are.
They even dare to claim that the grains of sand on earth are infinite. But they have never watched sand disappear. They have never felt the rush of fear that floods the chest and heart as grains of sand fall through the cracks in hands. For them, sand will always be there, always exist.
Everything is infinite for them. Time. Love. Bonds. Some even say that life itself is infinite.
Luhan can only laugh bitterly as he listens to the claims of the naive human beings. Never, they would never understand what it meant to suffer under the bounds of time. They would never be torn apart by the pain of being unable to be with the one they loved.
They were not bound, accursed by fate, as he and Yixing were.
The sand in their hourglasses would never stop flowing. But for Luhan, for Yixing, time was ticking down.
Foreword
"How much longer do we have left?" Luhan whispered.
"Three minutes," Yixing whispered back.
Luhan's heart clenched tightly as he buried his head in Yixing's back, holding on to the man was all of his strength. He was so scared of losing the man. As he held close to Yixing's body, Yixing's feathered wings rubbed against his cheek, soft and comforting. Forever, he wanted to remain forever in that position, in that moment. But he could not, because they did not have forever.
One million grains of sand. One million seconds.
"Do you think it would have been better if we never met in the first place?" Luhan asked, raising his head, placing it now on Yixing's shoulder.
Yixing didn't respond. He didn't need to. Luhan already knew the answer.
"I think so, too. If we never met...we wouldn't be so pained." Luhan believed in his words, but even still, they hurt. As though a thousand arrows pierced his flesh, he burned, suffering under the implications of his own response. He spoke the truth evident in both of their souls and it was because it was the truth, that Luhan hurt most.
If only they had never met.
Author's Note: Hello darlings. I'm back with another angsty fanfic. This one will be a oneshot (hopefully, if I can restrain myself) and I'm not sure, to tell the truth, if the ending will be happy. We'll see. Regardless, this will help express my emotions for one of my favorite Lay ships besides Kray and Sulay. Hopefully you'll enjoy. Subscribe, comment, upvote.
