I was born in South Korea but stayed in Canada for a good 6 years. Since I was born, I could see a set of numbers above everyone’s head. These set of numbers were constantly changing. At first, I thought everyone could see it. I didn’t bother questioning about it. I didn’t even know what it represented. That is until the day my dad died. My dad was diagnosed with server heart problems when I was 7. Our entire family flew to Canada so that my dad could receive the best treatment and minimise his sufferings during his last days. As days pass, the set of numbers hovering above my dad’s head decreased. “86400, 86399, 86398, 86397” Amazed at how fast the numbers changed, I couldn’t help but point at them and question my mum “Umma, what does those numbers mean? They keep getting lesser and lesser.” My mum was completely clueless and that was when I realised that I was not normal. It was abnormal to be able to see those numbers. This would therefore mean that I would never find out what they mean. Or so I thought.
