TWO STEPS BACK
SECOND CHANCE IN HEAVEN
Seungri felt the electricity flying between Dara and Jiyong. Dara was still clutching her knife. Her jaws were set firmly.
“Seungri, would you mind finding my daughter? I will not forgive you if something happens to her.”
Dara was addressing Seungri, but her eyes bore on Jiyong.
“H-hyung?” Seungri wanted to protest. He just tagged along with Jiyong. How did he end up in this situation?
“Come on, Seungri. Hurry up before she takes a cab somewhere.” Jiyong urged him to get going.
“Why did I get caught in this?” Seungri asked himself. He dashed out of the restaurant leaving Dara and Jiyong behind.
“How long have you been in contact with my daughter?” Dara hissed at Jiyong.
“A while. She’s very pretty. Like her mother. Thankfully, she inherited my passion in music or else I’ll be very jealous of you.“
What Jiyong said flared up her nostrils. Why didn’t she notice those things? How could Dani kept those things hidden? Is Jiyong mocking her right now?
“Why are you here, Kwon Jiyong?”
Jiyong did not answer. He waved his hand and a waiter approached him.
“I wanted to have lunch and coincidentally met you here. Isn’t this nice?” Jiyong answered after giving his order to the waiter.
“Then eat your damn lunch. I’m out of here.” Dara stood up, but Jiyong grabbed her arm.
“Let go of me, Kwon Jiyong.” There is warning in her voice.
“Sit down, Dara. You don’t want to make a scene here. Not with these people around.”
Dara whisked away Jiyong’s hold on her. She returned to her seat.
“What do you want?” Dara hissed at him. Jiyong ignored her. He picked up his phone on the table and started dialing. After a couple of rings, someone answered. Jiyong listened intently.
“Just stay with Uncle Seungri. Me and your Mom will just talk. Be a good girl, Dani.”
Dara snapped her head. She couldn’t believe what she just heard. She didn’t know Jiyong already owned her daughter. How could Dani betray her all this time?
Jiyong put back his phone on the table after ending the call.
“Don’t worry about Dani. Seungri will take care of her.” Jiyong assured Dara. It earned him a deathly glare from the woman. He continued.
“I believe you are back for good. Welcome back.”
“Cut the crap, Mr. Kwon. I don’t have all day to listen to your bull.”
“Feisty. You’ve changed, Dara. And you can call me Jiyong. We’re not strangers.”
“You know what, Mr. Kwon. If you don’t have anything important to say, I should be going. You’re wasting my time.” Dara got on her feet and was ready to leave.
“I want to exercise my right as the father of our daughter, Dara.”
Jiyong stopped beating around the bush. Dara didn’t give him another choice. He had to force his will on her. Or else he will lose the chance to be with his daughter. And if she let Dara dominate the situation, he will lose the chance to get her back.
“What if I don’t agree, Mr. Kwon? What would you do? Are you willing to fight for custody? “
“It will be too messy if I bring this to court, but I can ask my daughter to choose between us if it’s necessary.”
“How dare you!”
Jiyong put down his silverwares and look straight into Dara’s eyes shooting daggers at him.
“It will be very difficult for Dani and it might affect her terribly. As her mother, you don’t want her suffering because of our misunderstandings, right?”
“If you care so much about her well being, then you should have not shown your face in front of her. She doesn’t need you.”
“I’m afraid you are mistaken. You were with her the whole time, but you don’t know a single thing about your daughter.”
“Are you insulting me, Kwon Jiyong?”
“I’m just stating a fact.”
“And I refused to listen to any of your insults.”
Dara stood up pushing the chair behind her making the diners nearby look at their way.
“If Dani doesn’t get home before dark, I will report kidnapping to the police. Don’t mess with me, Kwon Jiyong. I am not the old Sandara Park you knew before.”
Without another glance, Dara left the restaurant. Her heart was hammering with so much anger and frustration. She was trembling. When she finally came out of the mall, she leaned on the wall for support. She didn’t know how she was able to hold up in front of Kwon Jiyong. She didn’t.
